Dual SIM Battery Pack for iPhone 4 Lets You Make Calls on Two Networks at Once

Last year we featured a case for the iPhone 4 that lets you switch between two SIM cards. That case has now been upgraded – now you can use two SIMs at once, no need to switch, plus you get an 800 mAh extra battery. The case has one slot each for a Micro SIM and a Mini SIM.

Even though the case enables two SIM cards to be simultaneously online, you’ll still have to pick one to use as a master SIM, which will have access to all features of your network provider and the iPhone 4, including web surfing via 3G. The non-master SIM will only be able to send and receive calls and SMS messages, nothing more. Not even a phonebook of its own. Here’s a demo of the case receiving calls on two different numbers:

USB Fever sells the Dual Standby/Dual SIM with Power Pack case for the iPhone 4 for $250 (USD), although it’s out of stock as of this writing. Also for that price you might as well get a second phone if you don’t mind carrying an extra gadget.

Say you’re sick of AT&T. Assuming you’ve jailbroken your iPhone 4, you can now bounce between two cell networks of your choice courtesy of this unusual case.

The iPhone 4 Dual SIM Adapter case comes with a ribbon cable that pops into your iPhone’s SIM slot, splitting it into two card slots. Then, snap the clear case around your phone to keep the SIM cards neat and tidy. According to the instructions, you just need to go into the phone settings and choose the SIM of your choice and wait 1 to 2 minutes for the network to connect. That’s it.

Frash: Android Flash Ported to iPad: Could It Make Jailbreaking Worth It?

The quest to bring Flash to Apple’s tablet continues, and we have yet another contender. A developer going by the name of Comex (who also made the iOS jailbreaking software Spirit) has ported the Android Flash runtime to the iPad.

According to Comex, “Frash can currently run most Flash programs natively in the MobileSafari browser. Frash currently only runs on the iPad, but support for other devices (3GS+ only due to technical restrictions) is planned, as well as support for iOS 4.”

Frash is also neat in that it that it works like the tabs in Chrome; if the plugin crashes, MobileSafari will not be affected. The program is not yet stable though, and currently cannot play video or accept keyboard input. Comex says the latter is a simple task; unfortunately, video playback “will require major reverse engineering of the video decoding frameworks on the iPhone.” Damn… To cheer you up, watch as Comex burninates on the iPad:

Comex has posted the source code at GitHub, in the hope that developers would pitch in with Frash. I don’t think there’s any chance that Apple would approve Frash as an app, so if it’s ever released, I’m pretty sure iPad users will have to jailbreak their tablet and get Frash from Cydia. IPhone 3g Hacked: Ultrasn0w Carrier Unlock for Os 3.0

Have an iPhone 3G running OS 3.0? Ready to pick your own mobile carrier? Well now you can release your iPhone 3G from its shackles.

iPhone Dev-Team’s Ultrasn0w carrier unlock hack works on iPhone 3G models, but doesn’t yet work on the 3GS. It’ll take you just a few minutes to go through all of the steps needed to unlock your iPhone, and free it from your current mobile carrier.

To make it work, you’ll first need to jailbreak your iPhone using redsn0w or PwnageTool 3.0, then follow the instructions over on the iPhone Dev-Team website and your iPhone 3G will be free at last. For now at least.

As is always the case with such PWN3GE tools, you take your iPhone’s life into your own hands. Don’t blame me if you brick your phone, or if AT&T sends their goons over to your house to make you pay up on your 2-year contract.
