These 3D cubes by James Clar & Associates display 3-dimensional images across an array of 1000 LEDs arranged in a grid structure. Previously, the designs were only shown at galleries and exhibitions such as Wired’s NextFest. Now you can purchase these beautifully designed, handmade artworks for your own home or business.

Each cube is assembled from 1000 individually controllable LEDs, meticulously arranged to form a perfect 10″ x 10″ x 10″ cube of wire and light. An embedded microcontroller and special software allow the cube to display animations of 3D images which can be downloaded to the device.

512MB of onboard memory in each cube can store up to 5 minutes of video. If you’re not up to the challenge of making your own animations, the cubes come preloaded with a number of animations including custom text messages, a running man and a double-helix animation among others. In addition, multiple cubes can be tied together to create larger displays.

While not inexpensive at $3000 (USD) each, these are truly an amazing blend of art and technology.
