Some women’s vanity extend to more than just their mugs. Yes, aside from making sure their face is free from fine lines, creases, and wrinkles in all the wrong places, another huge concern is their bodies. Specifically, the chest area.

Saggy boobs are no fun. And, well, the thought of them isn’t very pretty. But it’s a fact of life and it will come with age to most women – but if you’re trying to be part of the exception, then you might want to look into the Oyasumi Goodnight Keep Bra.

The non-wire Oyasumi bra promises to help you maintain a firm bust while you’re sleeping. It’s not too tight or uncomfortable, so you’ll still be able to get a good night’s worth of sleep even when you’re wearing it.

There isn’t any proof that these will actually work, since some scientific studies actually say that wearing bras at night won’t make them any perkier, nor will they cause cancer or stunt growth.

That said, if you’re still interested in giving it a whirl, then you can get one from the Japan Trend Shop for $78(USD).

Most women aren’t afraid of getting old. No, what they’re actually afraid of is looking old. Fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and fat accumulating in all the wrong places – it doesn’t conjure up a pretty sight, does it?

If you’re concerned about your own face and are absolutely terrified at the thought of having to get plastic surgery one day, then you’ll be relieved to hear of the bevy of alternative gadgets that the Japan Trend Shop has for women like you: the Hana Tsun Nose Straightener, the Eye Slack Haruka, the Rhythm Slim Chin Exerciser, the Face Slimmer Mouthpiece, the Smile Lines Face Belt, and the Houreisen Face Exercise Mask.

Another one to add to the list is the Pin Up! Face Supporter Mask, which promises to keep your facial skin tight and taut as you sleep. Aside from keeping your face locked tight, the red tape is lined with germanium and binchoutan (white charcoal) to retain heat to ward off sagging (at least, this is what it says on the product page. I had no idea that heat wards off sagging now?)

Anyway, if you’re interested in getting one of these, then you might want to head over to the Japan Trend Shop, where it retails for $110(USD).

Nintendo Characters are awesome, and Japanese representations of things are awesome, so why not combine the two? “Nintendo Characters are Japanese.” Not like this – a guy named Jed has decided to make Ukiyo Woodblock Prints showing all of his favorite Nintendo characters as they appeared back in the age of dragons and those round hats with the carts that were pulled in the streets. This just in: ethnocentrism is not a rampant issue in today’s society, we are educated about other countries and their cultures. Germany: Audi. Japan: Nintendo. Italy: pasta. Lots and lots of pasta.

This is one of the first Ukiyo pieces that Jed created, and it depicts our favorite wore-green-every-day-until-he-was-seventeen hero: Link. I particularly like how the Master Sword was redone – still recognizable, but not the same. Overall, a good mashup of ancient Japan and the Legend of Zelda in this wooden print.

I like the Samus ukiyo print more than the Link one simply because there’s an explosion and more women. The dragon was definitely a smart way to pull off the fact that Samus shoots electric balls of death all of the time. To see all of the prints, go to the newly-created Ukiyo-Nintendo Facebook page.

Above is the newly released ukiyo sketch of Mario Kart, which is just a draft that was just posted on the Facebook page – he’ll add color, among other things. I wanted to share it though, because the Koopa and the squid were too good not to put into the post. Creepy turtles!

If these prints are right up your alley, then check out the Zelda Fireplace Art and the Bathroom Filled With Nintendo Art!

This mesmerizing water display was created by Koei Industry and it’s located in the South Gate Building in the Osaka Station City shopping mall in Japan. Flowing sheets of water act as a shimmering canvas, as the display is part waterfall and digital printer rolled into one. The water streams are lit up to display an ever-changing array of patterns and designs.

This looks pretty cool. I wonder if they’ll end up making HDTVs that will fit in water fountains someday.

Are you using your smartphone to Instagram and Tweet photos all over the place? Get into the 21st century, thanks to TOUCHY, Eric Siu’s wearable camera that captures images from the perspective of its wearer.

Eric Siu, from Hong Kong, has conceived a new kind of tactile camera and he’s named it TOUCHY. It was developed while he was a resident artist at the Ishikawa Oku Laboratory at the University of Tokyo in Japan. The TOUCHY camera sits on top of the user’s head, blocking out his sight with oversize shutters until another person activates it. Only while the wearer is touched will the camera capture images, once every ten seconds, leaving them blind when not touched by another human.

Think of TOUCHY more as a social experiment than an actual product concept. The device itself is quite bulky and rather ridiculous looking, but it definitely makes you think about how we broadcast our lives on the web, thanks to smartphones, at the same time being more and more self-absorbed in our gadgets while we walk around.

So you have a kick ass home theater setup, with a 72″ 3D HDTV as its centerpiece. I applaud your fat wallet. But if you want to keep being a great consumer, keep an eye on this new technology: a 145-inch Ultra High Definition plasma display. Either that or this is a picture of a 32″ HDTV and a very small lady.

Made by NHK and Panasonic, the display has a maximum resolution of 7,860 x 4,320, has almost 34 million pixels and other numbers bigger than the ones that your TV has. It also has “a new drive system to stabilize the picture throughout the panel, by scanning several pixels simultaneously in the vertical direction.”

I predict that in a hundred years, Sony will partner with ImprovEverywhere to bring us Liv3Theatr, an Ultra Hyper Mega 26-Hit Combo Finish High Definition Display that looks so real because it is real. Pick a channel and Sony will teleport improv actors behind your display to perform whatever show is on that channel or teleport you to where the show is being held. If you can find the remote.

If you’ve ever been asked to have a radiograph of your body taken, then you know that X-ray machines are quite large and even the portable ones are carried by large vans. Until now. Japanese company Mikasa recently introduced a battery-powered X-ray machine that’s small enough to be carried by hand.

The machine is relatively lightweight at 7kg (approx. 15lbs.) including its battery, which can power the machine for up to 300 uses per charge. The machine will of course be a boon in emergency situations and in remote areas.

But the best thing about this machine is that, as YouTuber rubbermuck noted, it looks like something that the Ghostbusters would use. When there’s something strange, in your right boob, who you gonna call? The doctor!

Since Japan can’t help but get all kinds of cool things that the rest of the world can’t have, they’ve decided to further their reputation of being awesome by showing us the Pokemon Tretta Arcade Game. It will be in Japan in July, and is from the geniuses over at Marvelous AQL. The game is going to be in stores and game-centers everywhere, and by everywhere, I mean in Japan. My mom said I could paint my room any color I wanted as long as it was white. So, I painted my room neon green, and then covered it entirely in toilet paper. That’ll teach her to give me vague instructions. ”Aren’t you like 40 years old?”

Pokemon Tretta is amazing because it brings the beloved Pokemon cards into conjunction with the most addicting series of games ever created. (Mass Effect excepted.) With this cool machine, you can search for Pokemon in those sketchy patches of tall grass and try your best to become the very best. (Mom always told me that someone would always be better than me, but she lies. Ash Ketchum does not.) when you catch a Pokemon, you will be given a plastic card called a Tretta – yes, these are not virtual - they are real. You can see a few Trettas below -

These cards can then be traded and collected with friends, and are also re-usable in the game – when you slide in the cartridge, it recognizes that you have captured this Pokemon and can use it in battle. Sounds like way too much fun not to be in America. Nintendo, you are losing tons of money in sales – why not sell your products to a very eager market? Seriously! We’re begging to play with your shiny new things.

If you’re a huge Pokemon fan, like I am, then you’ll also want to check out the Adorable Pokemon Cupcakes and the Guy Who Proposed With A Pokemon Card. Don’t check out the guy, because he’s married, but you know what I mean. Don’t try to twist my words, you evil instruments of the biased national media.

Aging is a part of life. As the years go by, the skin will start to sag and the wrinkles will begin to appear. It’s a perfectly normal process, although a lot of people go to extreme measures to minimize the signs of aging.

Similar to the Face Slimmer Mouthpiece which lets you do some weird facial exercise so that you’ll end up with a more slender face is the Pupeko Anti-Aging Mouthpiece.

While the Face Slimmer asks you to say loud vowel sounds over and over again, the Pupeko will have you puff your cheeks out or suck them in to exercise your facial muscles.

According to the Pupeko’s product page, it was created by an ordinary housewife who was concerned about her age and the telltale lines on her face. Apparently, she wasn’t very concerned about how silly she looked with this contraption in her mouth.

We’re not saying that the Pupeko works. We’re not saying that it doesn’t either, because we obviously haven’t tried it. But in the case that it does get rid of your wrinkles, then you might save some cash by skipping the Botox injections (and a little less botulinum toxin in your bloodstream.)

The Pupeko Anti-Aging Mouthpiece is available from the Japan Trend Shop for $38(USD).

If god-forbid, I ever find myself in an earthquake, I think I’d like one of those earthquake-proof tables to duck under. However, you can’t always be around a table when you need one. On the other hand, if you’re out and about, you could easily carry around a shopping bag – and in this case, the shopping bag could save you in a disaster.

While it’s definitely not the most stylish of looks, the Grappa shopping bag can definitely offer additional protection for your head in a pinch. Normally, it works like a regular shopping bag, but in an emergency, you place it over your head, and it ads a layer of durable foam material to protect your noggin. Its makers claim the foam is the same sort of material found in ordinary hard hats. The bags are reasonably priced too, with prices ranging from 980 to 1280 yen (~$12 to $16 USD.)

At least they were nice enough to include a mesh side so you can see out of it. Sure, you might look completely ridiculous if you wear one, but the guy pointing and laughing next to you probably got his brain bashed in by falling debris – and you’ll still be alive to point and laugh at him.

Society has taught us to become vain individuals. Blemished skin, sagging eyebags, and frown lines have no place in the highly shallow world that we live in today. But if you’re living on a decent income and can’t spare thousands to get surgical procedures done, then you’re in luck because there are some Japan-grown vanity gizmos that you can try out.

The Houreisen Face Exercise Mask is the latest of a series of strange and wonderful mechanical contraptions from Japan. It joins the ranks of the Hana Tsun Nose Straightener, the Eye Slack Haruka, the Rhythm Slim Chin Exerciser, the Face Slimmer Mouthpiece, and the Smile Lines Face Belt.

What the face mask promises to do is tighten up your sagging cheeks without having to go under the knife. Here’s how you’re supposed to use it: put it on, open and close your mouth for ten minutes, and repeat it every day.

You can get the Houreisen Face Exercise Mask from the Japan Trend Shop for $93 (USD).

If you’re the kind of person who takes their iPhone into a firefight, then you know that the usual flimsy cases won’t do much, especially against larger caliber guns. Check out Marudai’s bulletproof iPhone case. They claim that it will stop a .50 caliber bullet. Tough enough for you?

I suppose if you’re in a war zone, this could come in handy. The case isn’t very sexy, and the back is a bit thick, but I guess that thickness is needed to stop a machine gun from going to town on your iPhone. I’m sure that soldiers and mercenaries who carry smartphones will appreciate this.

If you want one, you’ll need to order it through Marudai’s site[JP] and you’ll have to pay ¥52,500 (~$650 USD) for it. It’s certainly not cheap, but then again if it keeps your lines of communication open when you’re under fire, it’s well worth it.

So dangerous, in fact, that New York-based artist Nao Matsumoto distributed thousands of middle finger candles that he had molded earlier to show what he thinks about it.

These were the candles that waves of Japanese people carried as they formed a human chain around the National Diet building (where the Japanese legislature meets) in Tokyo this past March 11. You might recall this date being the anniversary of the tsunami that sparked the deadly Fukushima atomic disaster last year.

The candles eventually burn to leave the disfigured stump of a clumpy hand – which is “symbolic of human tendency to only be able to communicate after things are badly damaged.” That’s in case the middle finger didn’t get the point across in the first place.

The Calculator App is one of the most basic and essential programs that ships with the iPhone and most other smartphones out there. Given the fact that pretty much everybody has a smartphone these days, I don’t see much reason for a dedicated calculator anymore. But if you still like to kick it in old school, you could at least get a calculator that looks like a smartphone, right?

The Calculator 10 is just that – it’s a traditional calculator, designed to fit in right alongside today’s fanciest gadgets. It’s got a case design that’s very similar to the iPhone 4/4S, though without any pesky Gorilla Glass to crack or get thumbprints all over. It’s also done away with the touchscreen Retina display, A5 processor, cameras, accelerometer, GPS, and iOS – in favor of a basic 10-digit LCD screen and some clicky plastic buttons. At least it can handle square roots and percentage calculations. As an added bonus, the Calculator 10 is available in one color that you can’t get the iPhone in – red.

About the only thing the Calculator 10 has going for it is its price – about $11 (USD), and its battery life – about five years under typical use. Try and do that with your fancy iPhone! You can get your hands on the Calculator 10 in black, white or red over at Strapya World.

I love a good hand-rolled sushi roll as much as the next person, but I can only imagine that making hundreds of rolls of sushi every hour can be an exhausting and difficult experience for the chefs behind the sushi bar. Well, the Japanese have a solution for this – sushi-making robots!

The Suzomo SVR line of SushiBots can crank out up to 280 to 400 rolls of norimaki in an hour, taking ingredients and rolling out a perfect square roll.

As you can see in the video clips, it’s not like it can do all of the slicing and precision knife-work that a qualified sushi chef can pull off, but it can take care of laying out the rice and the precise rolling part. In addition to the norimaki machine, Suzomo offers the TRS-FMA robot, which can crank out up to 3300 pieces of shari sushi rice every hour:

From the looks of things, Suzomo offers quite a range of robotic systems for mass-production of sushi. Would you eat sushi that came from a robot, or do you require that humans prepare all your food?

Ah, Japan. Just when I think your gadgets can’t get any weirder, you birth another oddity for our enjoyment. The latest strange creation to pop onto my radar screen is this – a lamp that looks like one of those intravenous drip bags.

Instead of plugging this IV bag into one of your veins, simply connect it to a USB port on your computer or a USB power adapter, and it’ll glow. There’s a small grid of LEDs inside, which can provide blue, white or orange light depending on the version you buy. You can even fill it with water, without risk of damaging the light – though the idea of a water-filled light plugged into an outlet or my laptop kind of freaks me out.

I suppose that these might be cool filled with fake blood for a Halloween decoration – assuming you like to get all your Halloween shopping done in April. Personally, I HATE hospitals, so I don’t see the appeal in having these hanging in your house, but if you actually get pleasure from being hooked up to an IV (or hooking people up to them,) feel free to order some. They’re available over at Japan Trend Shop for $37(USD) each.

Everything is interactive these days. But plants? Japanese researchers are working on that one. Researchers at Keio University aim to create interactive plants. Interactive plants, like puppets, are designed to react to and convey emotions. Now if some interactive zombies show up, we can have Plants vs. Zombies for real.

The plants are attached to motors by a series of threads wrapped around some leaves and branches. These motors are connected to a microphone and a motion sensor. When the motion detector senses you or the microphone hears you, it triggers the motors and creates the movement as if it were alive. Well, I suppose it is alive, so like I said, it becomes a slave puppet.

They say that it doesn’t harm the plant, but I’m not sure about that. I guess when they are ready, plants will rise up and kill us for payback, just like robots. Oh joy.

You might remember the interactive music poster that can play short music recordings to advertise bands for a concert or event. There’s no music involved this time, though; rather, all that’s on the screen is a girl – who’s waiting for your kiss.

Researchers have developed a “poster” equipped with a distance sensor that makes the image in the photo react when it is kissed. Ok, it’s not really a poster at all – it’s just a flat screen display.

The system was developed by a research group at Keio University, who are still thinking of how it can be used commercially.

This system is very simple. There’s an ultrasound sensor here, to detect how far away your head is. As you approach the sensor, the picture changes. When you get closer, the picture becomes a kissing face, and when you move away, it becomes a blushing face.

The research team are still coming up with ways to improve their system and are looking to create an iPad app that works in a similar fashion in the future.

The current system only produces visual changes, but we could also include the scent of shampoo from the person’s hair, or a lemon-flavored film on the lips, or a speaker that whispers ‘I love you.’ People who’ve tried this system advised us to do those things, so we think there’s still plenty to be done. We’ve learned a lot from talking to users.

It seems like interactive posters might soon take over the world, although you can give the technology a couple of years or so before it catches on.

While it’s not the iPhone gas stove I’ve been dreaming about for my kitchen, I still rather like the idea of this USB mug warmer that looks just like a tiny stovetop burner.

Simply plug the USB mini gas stove into the side of your computer, and it’ll heat up a mug of tea, coffee, or even keep your ramen noodles warm. It even has a bright orange LED ring around the middle to make it look like a burner (although I’d think blue would be more realistic for natural gas).

It offers an adjustable thermostat which lets you select from temperatures between 40° and 70° celsius, and also functions as a 2-port USB hub. I’m a bit concerned about how much heat this thing could actually produce using the relatively low current flowing out of your computer’s USB port, but it probably doesn’t take much to heat up a small metal plate. If you want to try one out for yourself, you can find the USB Gas Stove over at Infmetry for $21(USD).
