In between all those dress fittings, cake tastings, and makeup trials, I must have heard countless horror stories about women getting jilted at the altar or engagements gone bad to last me a lifetime. It’s not a ring that was made to have people kill other people, literally. But it does look pretty, and not just pretty unusual, right?

If you take a closer look at the ring, you’ll notice that its (artificial) diamond has been positioned into the frame upside down. That means the pointy side is up and the flat side is facing downwards – making for one deadly looking piece of jewelry.

In a way, you could consider this ring to be sort of, well, an anti-ring. The perfect anti-ring for the anti-Valentine.

The Killer Ring is available from Generate. The sterling silver version sells for just $109 (USD), but you’ll have to add another $740 if you want it in 14K white or yellow gold.

The Empty Memory drives come in two variants, each with its own subtle visual trick to indicate vacuity. The Structure only has an outline of a body while the Transparency is, you know, transparent. The functional part of the flash drives take up only a small part of the whole thing.

The message is supposed to be that you’re going to fill that emptiness with your own memory, a metaphor that fails when you consider that the drives don’t change appearance when the drives are no longer empty. But still, they’re really nice to look at. I particularly like looking at the shot with the Structure drive plugged-in.

Logical Art’s online shop is now accepting pre-orders for the drives, which by the way are cast from stainless steel, hand-polished and finished in various colors. If the title didn’t already clue you in, that previous sentence should prepare you for their price tags. The drives are only available in 4GB capacity and sell for £48 (~$73 USD) for the standard stainless steel finish and £60 (~$92 USD) for the gold or rhodium variants. I know, you could get a 1TB external drive for just a few dollars more, but will it have the fancy illusion? And can you wear your terabyte drive as a pendant? I didn’t think so, peasant.

Sculpted in English pewter and brass, this timepiece not only looks good on the outside, it’s also impressive on the inside, with “solar powered, brass turbine blades rotating or hand cranked to generate transformed power”.  It also has a quartz movement and a magnetic fastening hatch, and displays the “Temporal Decay Index” on its “Galvanic Scale.”  Or maybe it just tells time.

I wouldn’t mind the next doctor wearing this at all, as long as he doesn’t say “Fob watches are cool.” It is $149(USD) over at Design Toscano.

They were designed by Ammnra Props, and they do a great job capturing the look of each of the personality cores. Even though the game’s cores are spheres, these still work nicely since they’re sort of like you just chopped the top and bottom off of the core so you can stick your finger into it. In addition to Wheatley, you can slip some of the lesser-known cores onto your fingers, including Space Core, Fact Core and Rick the Adventure Core. What, no Anger Cores?

The rings are produced using 3D printing technology over at Shapeways, and can be ordered up in a variety of materials. Keep in mind that while you can order them in stainless steel or silver, you won’t be able to get the colorful eyeball effect if you do that. Though I do think a shiny sterling silver Wheatley ring would look pretty awesome. If you buy one of the white or grey plastic versions, you’ll still need to paint in the details yourself. Here’s what the plastic rings look like once printed and painted:

The personality core rings can be ordered in ring sizes from 6 to 12, and prices range from $15 to $105 (USD) – depending on material – over at Ammnra’s Shapeways shop.

Each one is handmade by Virginie Millefiori, who creates all sorts of cool jewelry, including an entire collection of Invaders-inspired wares. In this particular case, the ring is made from gold-plated brass, then hand-enameled in white to create the pixel effect.

While the ring in the picture above is clearly a different (non-pixellated) Invader, I couldn’t resist posting a picture of a cute girl rockin’ an awesome Space Invaders ring, and showing it off for the camera.  This particular ring sells for $50 (USD) over on Etsy, and it would look great along with a matching pendant, don’t you think? You can also order them in silver-plate or different shades of enamel on request.

It’s not really made from a diamond, but it is still a touching and funny gesture from a company to a fan. The gift was made even more special because PopCap gave it to Chris and Laura for their 1st wedding anniversary on October 10, 2011. This means the two got married on October 10, 2010 (10/10/10), which also happens to be the 10th anniversary of Bejeweled. You can’t make up stuff like that.

It’s made out of CNC-machined aluminum with an LED inside which pulsates for up to 72 hours at a time. Each of the necklaces contains a tiny circuit board to make it work. The pendant is silver. It’s the perfect geek gift for yourself or your significant other.

But where there’s a will, there’s a way, and that’s exactly what we have here.

These stainless steel “You Are Sooo Sharp” earrings each have a miniature knife on them, which not only folds out, but is actually a functional blade.

When closed, they measure in at 7/8″ long, and the blade itself is 9/16″ long. It’s definitely sharp enough that you don’t want to poke yourself with it. In fact, you can use these to cut paper, tape, open envelopes or pop balloons. Just don’t try and cut a New York Strip with one. You’re asking for trouble.

They are definitely dangerous. In fact, the guys over at You gNeek who sell them say you have to be 18 or older to buy a pair. Whatever you do, don’t wear these through airport security, and definitely don’t leave them open while wearing them unless you want to feel some pain.

The Command Key Ring was designed by FORMA Laboratories, and is available in a variety of finishes. Expect to pay $51(USD) for it in stainless steel, but the silver version costs $91 in matte and $101 in glossy finishes. There are also gold and bronze-plated versions for a bit less.

I like how a lot of designers are coming up with pieces that showcase geekery at their finest and most fashionable best. You might get a couple of lot of stares from other people who see you with these earrings on. But in my opinion, they’re a really fun and fashionable way of displaying geeky side with a chic vibe.

Now we bring you more hair-raising works of art made with human hair, and this time, you’re supposed to wear these on your neck. No resin holding these together this time, though.

I don’t what to say about these necklaces except that they’re attractive yet bring up some sense of aversion at the same time. This is exactly Kerry Howley’s line of thinking when she came up with these hair necklaces as part of her Attraction/Aversion collection for her award-winning 2011 graduate collection.

She explains it like so: When your hair is still on your head, it’s something that a lot of people, most especially women, take pride in. They go to great lengths and measures to maintain their tresses and make their mane of hair look good and groomed. But once the hair leaves the roots, it’s something that, well, might cause a sense of aversion in some people.

Through her collection, Kerry made an attempt to make this unrooted hair attractive again. So what do you think? Was she successful in doing so with her hair necklaces?

But instead of just cheaping out and cutting up some old circuits like we often see over on Etsy, these guys make their jewelry from mirror-polished stainless steel, then hung them each from a 16″ chain. The pendants themselves measure 2″ x 1.5″ and are available in either silver or gold finishes, but not in copper – which would be even more appropriate for a circuit board. Still, they’re quite good looking, IMHO.

If you’re looking for something a little more girly (or want you’re a guy and want to get your girlfriend something sweet and geeky), there’s always the version shaped like a little 1″x1″ heart, too.

I wonder if there’s a schematic available for the parts that could go into these things. I suppose if you really wanted to, you could solder some components in, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you won’t end up with a functional circuit. I guess you can always find out for yourself. Each of these circuit board necklaces sells for $60 (USD) over at the Design Glut shop over on Supermarket.

Created by SVJewellery over in the UK, these laser-cut acrylic earrings portray half of a test subject heading into a blue portal, and the other half popping out of the orange portal. They hang from silver-plated wires and measure about 1.77″ (45mm) in total height.

While we never actually see Chell donning a pair of these during the game, I have it on good authority that Caroline used to wear these before her brain was transferred into GLaDOS (and later into a potato). I know because Cave Johnson told me so right before he went completely off the deep end.

The Portal laser-cut earrings can be found over on SVJewellery’s Etsy shop for $19.95 (USD) a pair. Just remember, never aim an Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device at your ears, unless you want your brains to fall out.
