The road from getting engaged to when the actual “I Do’s” are said is a long and activity-filled one. I should know – not because I’m married, but because I’ve got two sisters who recently got hitched.

In between all those dress fittings, cake tastings, and makeup trials, I must have heard countless horror stories about women getting jilted at the altar or engagements gone bad to last me a lifetime. So when I saw these ‘Til Death Do Us Part Knuckle Dusters, well, you probably already know which group of women I thought about.

This tough-looking set of rings was designed by Kate Bauman and was intended to be just a one-of-a-kind statement piece back in 2006. However, the demand was huge and the interest was high, so she decided to offer these knuckle dusters for sale on her site for $425(USD).

The ’Til Death Do Us Part Knuckle Duster can be cast in your choice of sterling silver or brass, with a 1-carat cubic zirconia set in each of its four rings.

These cufflinks are officially licensed Star Wars merchandise, so you can rest easy knowing that you are helping to fund a new flannel shirt for George Lucas or supporting a future re-edit of the movies. Choose which side you are with. The Rebels or the Empire. Business suits are boring, so why not geek things up a little?

The Zombie Brains Friendship Necklace Set signifies so much more than your friendship with a fellow flesh-eater. It shows that you would be willing to give half of your brain to another zombie and take half of theirs in return. Not that it really matters, anyway – you’re both knuckleheads who don’t have girlfriends to share your Zombie Brains Friendship Necklace Set with. It is only socially acceptable for girls to have friendship necklaces with other girls – guys usually don’t do that kind of thing. Guys usually don’t have necklaces that spell B-R-A-I-N-S, though, so we might be able to make an exception.

Also, to the rule that you can’t wear masks at work, you can wear the LED Anti-Aging Mask. We’re only making an exception because someone tripped on your face sag a couple of days ago, and now the company is facing lawsuits. THEY TRIPPED ON YOUR FACE SAG. How does that even happen?! But I digress.

The Zombie Brains Friendship Necklace Set is from ThinkGeek, and is $30. don’t think of it as $30, think of it as buying two $15 necklaces. Because that’s exactly what you’re doing! This has been a journey into Derp land, please step off of the ride and keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle. *Revs up bone saw* I see only one way that I am going to be able to leave and follow the directions. Good thing I’m a zombie, or this would hurt like a bone saw! Because it is a bone saw! “Where did you even get one of those?” The internet.

If you’d like to throw your money at someone, please visit your local school at Penny the Freshmen day. If you would like to throw money at the Zombie Brains Friendship Necklace Set, go ahead and pogo jump yourself all the way over to ThinkGeek.

Valentine’s day is fast approaching. It’s probably the one day of the year that most singles love to hate for a variety of reasons. And if you still don’t have a ring on that finger, then maybe you’d like this ring instead: the Killer Ring.

It’s not a ring that was made to have people kill other people, literally. But it does look pretty, and not just pretty unusual, right?

If you take a closer look at the ring, you’ll notice that its (artificial) diamond has been positioned into the frame upside down. That means the pointy side is up and the flat side is facing downwards – making for one deadly looking piece of jewelry.

In a way, you could consider this ring to be sort of, well, an anti-ring. The perfect anti-ring for the anti-Valentine.

The Killer Ring is available from Generate. The sterling silver version sells for just $109 (USD), but you’ll have to add another $740 if you want it in 14K white or yellow gold.

I sure miss Mystery Science Theater 3000. My fondest memories of the show are way back in the Joel Hodgson era, but these days, just seeing a picture of Crow, Tom Servo or Gypsy makes me giddy. Now I only wish that I could pull off this MST3K pendant to show my love for the classic sci-fi comedy show.

Just like the setup of the show – where Joel (or Mike) sat with the robots and made fun of bad “B” movies, this handmade pendant makes your favorite photo the subject of their humorous jabs.

The MST3K locket is made by Laura of PicaPicaPress, and it’s the perfect place to house a picture of a loved one with a good sense of humor. After all, they’re going to be perpetually belittled within an inch of their lived by this outer-space peanut gallery. I suppose you could wimp out and put some sci-fi movie still in there. Pretty much any scene from the re-released Star Wars Blu-ray collection should do the trick – especially from Episode I. Robot Monster always works wonders.

Girls, if you consider yourself among the remaining MSTies out there, head on over to Etsy, where you can grab up this locket for $60 (USD). Be sure to wear it the next time you find yourself trapped on the Satellite of Love.

Flash drives with themes and designs are nothing new, but if you’re really looking for something that pushes the form of a USB drive, Logical Art’s Empty Memory series may be the ones that you’re looking for.

The Empty Memory drives come in two variants, each with its own subtle visual trick to indicate vacuity. The Structure only has an outline of a body while the Transparency is, you know, transparent. The functional part of the flash drives take up only a small part of the whole thing.

The message is supposed to be that you’re going to fill that emptiness with your own memory, a metaphor that fails when you consider that the drives don’t change appearance when the drives are no longer empty. But still, they’re really nice to look at. I particularly like looking at the shot with the Structure drive plugged-in.

Logical Art’s online shop is now accepting pre-orders for the drives, which by the way are cast from stainless steel, hand-polished and finished in various colors. If the title didn’t already clue you in, that previous sentence should prepare you for their price tags. The drives are only available in 4GB capacity and sell for £48 (~$73 USD) for the standard stainless steel finish and £60 (~$92 USD) for the gold or rhodium variants. I know, you could get a 1TB external drive for just a few dollars more, but will it have the fancy illusion? And can you wear your terabyte drive as a pendant? I didn’t think so, peasant.

I would like to suggest that he have the watch on his person. It’s old, yet modern. Perfect for the time and space explorer. It seems fitting for a Timelord to use this.
Sculpted in English pewter and brass, this timepiece not only looks good on the outside, it’s also impressive on the inside, with “solar powered, brass turbine blades rotating or hand cranked to generate transformed power”. It also has a quartz movement and a magnetic fastening hatch, and displays the “Temporal Decay Index” on its “Galvanic Scale.” Or maybe it just tells time.

I wouldn’t mind the next doctor wearing this at all, as long as he doesn’t say “Fob watches are cool.” It is $149(USD) over at Design Toscano.

While the killer puzzles, GLaDOS (Potato), and Cave Johnson were all highlights of Portal 2, Wheatley tops the list for the sheer quantity of laugh-out-loud moments in the game, if you ask me. Now fans of the game can take Wheatley wherever they go, with one of these personality core rings.

They were designed by Ammnra Props, and they do a great job capturing the look of each of the personality cores. Even though the game’s cores are spheres, these still work nicely since they’re sort of like you just chopped the top and bottom off of the core so you can stick your finger into it. In addition to Wheatley, you can slip some of the lesser-known cores onto your fingers, including Space Core, Fact Core and Rick the Adventure Core. What, no Anger Cores?

The rings are produced using 3D printing technology over at Shapeways, and can be ordered up in a variety of materials. Keep in mind that while you can order them in stainless steel or silver, you won’t be able to get the colorful eyeball effect if you do that. Though I do think a shiny sterling silver Wheatley ring would look pretty awesome. If you buy one of the white or grey plastic versions, you’ll still need to paint in the details yourself. Here’s what the plastic rings look like once printed and painted:

The personality core rings can be ordered in ring sizes from 6 to 12, and prices range from $15 to $105 (USD) – depending on material – over at Ammnra’s Shapeways shop.

If you’re a lover of classic video games, then you’ll probably dig this retro-style ring, made to look like a Space Invader. What I really love about it is that it’s not just a solid shape, but it actually looks like its made up of pixels.

Each one is handmade by Virginie Millefiori, who creates all sorts of cool jewelry, including an entire collection of Invaders-inspired wares. In this particular case, the ring is made from gold-plated brass, then hand-enameled in white to create the pixel effect.

While the ring in the picture above is clearly a different (non-pixellated) Invader, I couldn’t resist posting a picture of a cute girl rockin’ an awesome Space Invaders ring, and showing it off for the camera. This particular ring sells for $50 (USD) over on Etsy, and it would look great along with a matching pendant, don’t you think? You can also order them in silver-plate or different shades of enamel on request.

You can check out more of Virginie’s Invader collection over on flickr.

PopCap Games recently held a contest asking players to share interesting stories involving the company’s Facebook and downloadable game Bejeweled Blitz. The winner was a hardcore fan named Laura Sheriff. Her story? Her competitive gamer boyfriend Chris proposed to her after failing to beat her high score of over 600,000 points. He told her that he knew “it was meant to be because she beat his score.” Her prize?

It’s not really made from a diamond, but it is still a touching and funny gesture from a company to a fan. The gift was made even more special because PopCap gave it to Chris and Laura for their 1st wedding anniversary on October 10, 2011. This means the two got married on October 10, 2010 (10/10/10), which also happens to be the 10th anniversary of Bejeweled. You can’t make up stuff like that.

Chris Myles has been wowing us for quite some time now with his Portal-related props and toys. If you’re a fan of his work, now’s your chance to literally pay him back – and get cool stuff in return – by copping his custom made 3D-printed rings. Myles currently has Daft Punk-themed rings, Assassin’s Creed-themed rings and of course a set of Portal-themed rings.

As you’ll see in the video below, some of the rings have multiple parts, either detachable or movable, like the GLaDOS ring or the Assassin’s Creed ring with a hidden dagger print.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Before you get too excited, know that Myles pulled off a Warhammer move here – the actual rings are unpainted, so how good (or bad) it ends up is still up to you.

Check out the iNecklace, which is actually a piece of jewelry that you could replicate if you really want to, but you can also buy one if you’d rather not make one yourself. The unique part of this piece is that it pulsates, kind of like what the LEDs on a Mac do.

It’s made out of CNC-machined aluminum with an LED inside which pulsates for up to 72 hours at a time. Each of the necklaces contains a tiny circuit board to make it work. The pendant is silver. It’s the perfect geek gift for yourself or your significant other.

Since it’s open-source, you can make it yourself. Through Adafruit, you can access all of the files necessary to duplicate it. Or you could simply buy a completed iNecklace for $75(USD) from Gizmine.

Ok, that was bad. But the idea of earrings with tiny little functional knives probably isn’t a good one either.

But where there’s a will, there’s a way, and that’s exactly what we have here.

These stainless steel “You Are Sooo Sharp” earrings each have a miniature knife on them, which not only folds out, but is actually a functional blade.

When closed, they measure in at 7/8″ long, and the blade itself is 9/16″ long. It’s definitely sharp enough that you don’t want to poke yourself with it. In fact, you can use these to cut paper, tape, open envelopes or pop balloons. Just don’t try and cut a New York Strip with one. You’re asking for trouble.

They are definitely dangerous. In fact, the guys over at You gNeek who sell them say you have to be 18 or older to buy a pair. Whatever you do, don’t wear these through airport security, and definitely don’t leave them open while wearing them unless you want to feel some pain.

Last week, we saw how girls can show off their gamer sides by putting on some gamer necklaces by Deadly Pretty Design. As a girl who’s really into video games herself, I can say that I definitely can’t wait to get my hands on one of those necklaces. I like the Xbox 360 one best.

If you’re anything like me, then you’ll also want to complement those gorgeous gamer necklaces with aptly themed earrings, like these white vintage circuit earrings that are made from an old circuit board.

I like how a lot of designers are coming up with pieces that showcase geekery at their finest and most fashionable best. You might get a <del>couple of</del> lot of stares from other people who see you with these earrings on. But in my opinion, they’re a really fun and fashionable way of displaying geeky side with a chic vibe.

I’m heading off to order a pair of these myself on Sparkover’s Shop on Etsy now. They’re available for $20 a pair, by the way.

Better to have one gold key than nothing at all right? Actually, about that gold thing: the key isn’t entirely made of gold, merely gold-plated silver. But look on the bright and shiny side! Silver’s next to gold, so it’s not so bad. Playas gotta start somewhere, and all that motivational stuff.

The Gold Key $4 is designed by Martí Guixé, who makes them on a made-to-order basis, so the price, appearance and delivery time will vary, but it most definitely will cost more than $4. Holla at him at mail[at]chihapaura.com for more details.

You might remember those weird glasses made with human hair that we talked about a few days back.

Now we bring you more hair-raising works of art made with human hair, and this time, you’re supposed to wear these on your neck. No resin holding these together this time, though.

I don’t what to say about these necklaces except that they’re attractive yet bring up some sense of aversion at the same time. This is exactly Kerry Howley’s line of thinking when she came up with these hair necklaces as part of her Attraction/Aversion collection for her award-winning 2011 graduate collection.

She explains it like so: When your hair is still on your head, it’s something that a lot of people, most especially women, take pride in. They go to great lengths and measures to maintain their tresses and make their mane of hair look good and groomed. But once the hair leaves the roots, it’s something that, well, might cause a sense of aversion in some people.

Through her collection, Kerry made an attempt to make this unrooted hair attractive again. So what do you think? Was she successful in doing so with her hair necklaces?

As is evidenced by a couple of our most recent posts, women and girls can be into electronics just as much as dudes. So why not wear your inner geekette around your neck with one of these cool circuit board necklaces. They’re made by the guys at Brooklyn’s Design Glut, and look just like the metal traces from a circuit board.

But instead of just cheaping out and cutting up some old circuits like we often see over on Etsy, these guys make their jewelry from mirror-polished stainless steel, then hung them each from a 16″ chain. The pendants themselves measure 2″ x 1.5″ and are available in either silver or gold finishes, but not in copper – which would be even more appropriate for a circuit board. Still, they’re quite good looking, IMHO.

If you’re looking for something a little more girly (or want you’re a guy and want to get your girlfriend something sweet and geeky), there’s always the version shaped like a little 1″x1″ heart, too.

I wonder if there’s a schematic available for the parts that could go into these things. I suppose if you really wanted to, you could solder some components in, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you won’t end up with a functional circuit. I guess you can always find out for yourself. Each of these circuit board necklaces sells for $60 (USD) over at the Design Glut shop over on Supermarket.

Gamer girls, do you dig Portal? I thought so. Well if you’re one to wear your fan-girlism on your sleeve (or on your ears), you should check out these fun Portal-inspired earrings.

Created by SVJewellery over in the UK, these laser-cut acrylic earrings portray half of a test subject heading into a blue portal, and the other half popping out of the orange portal. They hang from silver-plated wires and measure about 1.77″ (45mm) in total height.

While we never actually see Chell donning a pair of these during the game, I have it on good authority that Caroline used to wear these before her brain was transferred into GLaDOS (and later into a potato). I know because Cave Johnson told me so right before he went completely off the deep end.

The Portal laser-cut earrings can be found over on SVJewellery’s Etsy shop for $19.95 (USD) a pair. Just remember, never aim an Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device at your ears, unless you want your brains to fall out.
