Botjira’s pieces are all made using recycled materials, such as magazines and recycled paper. Botjira also sends any leftover paper scraps to be recycled. It takes Botjira anywhere from five minutes to a few hours to make each piece. If you’d like to get an idea of how the collages are made, Botjira posted a step-by-step of the making of the Chell piece here.

I get that this map is a first person view of a side scrolling game, but the design leaves almost no room for evading enemies. And its not like you’ll be only be dealing with goombas.

It’s confirmed: Mario’s punch is as strong as a blast from a shotgun. The map is still in its early stages – amirite? – especially since Chubzdoomer plans on recreating World 1-1 to 1-4. Yeah, the NES didn’t have graphics that looked exactly that, but I’m still glad I watched. Aren’t you? The whole “After these messages, we’ll be right back” bit was worth the price of admission for me.

I think the most frightening thing in Pixel Force:Left 4 Dead is Zoey’s face in the character select screen:

Actually all the portraits are creepy. Seriously though, Eric himself said that he didn’t intend his version to make an exact copy of Valve’s game: “I want to make it very clear that the design aspect of this de-make was to create the game “Left 4 Dead” in a way that I feel it would have been handled back in 1986. The new campaign, fittingly named “The Passing,” is described as the most important in all the games, as it’s the culmination of everyone’s struggle for survival. “The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign,” said Valve’s Doug Lombardi. “It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry.”

Let’s hope the new guys are a little less creepy than the Mudmen. As for the new game modes, the most interesting addition is referred to as a new type of co-op challenge – survivors vs. survivors in a race to the safe room? Sign me up. Too bad you can’t mix and match. I’d take Coach and Francis any day, for hilarity’s sake.

“The Passing” is set for sometime in early 2010.

Oh, Bill – just as gruff somehow, even when reduced to a pile of pixels. All of the original cast are recognizable in this version, though they surely are giant-headed. Okay, it’s just poor Louis who has a really giant head (or seems to) in this de-make of the co-op zombie apocalypse, but man. It seems to me that having a giant head in a situation like this – one in which your teammates have guns and don’t always know how best to use them – is one hell of a liability. A big one.

Eric Ruth plans to release the game next month, but in the future, he’ll be concentrating on a few other de-makes. His hopes include Halo and Psychonauts. Let’s hope everyone takes the homage as well as Valve has.

Modder Tjpitbull decked out his 360 with a complete Left 4 Dead inspired look, covering the entire case with a distressed military green paintjob on both the console and controller. And you see that giant cutout “4″ from the game’s logo? It’s backlit with bright blood red LEDs when the lights go down – and the most appropriate Red Rings of Death you’ll ever see.

I’m not even gonna lie: I am sick with jealousy that I did not think of this when my son was smaller, and distraught that he is now too old for mobiles. On the other hand, I sort of just want it for me.

On the other, other hand, I’m sure it’s not healthy for a baby if the parents are constantly yelling “Boomer!”

The mobile is light and simple, with wonderful detail on the silhouettes, but for $30 (USD), quality is expected. And don’t think Etsy marketeer SaltyandSweet is limiting these creations to Left 4 Dead. Oh no, there are other zombie mobiles, too, and other games like Team Fortress are represented. But perhaps the most hilarious? Pirates vs. ninjas.

Brilliant.

Alright, take a moment to admire the beauty and detail. From a distance, this Lego rendition looks pretty good, eh? You’ve got rubble, proper outfits, shadows… the works.

But take a look at it up close.

Francis has tattoos! Louis is down! All we need is Bill’s very sticky cigarette and this is about perfect. And a van. And Francis complaining about the van. And maybe a Boomer.

This, though… not so much.

Major kudos for pulling off such a messy–and yet accurate–cake for Left 4 Dead fans. Would I eat it? It looks more like it might be interested in eating me when you get right down to it. Or at least getting a nice grip on my face and then ripping it off. And I’m partial to my face.

Bright colors, blocky environments, and hordes of raging infected running around among the zombie-like goombas. This custom set of Left 4 Dead maps is based on the familiar scenes from the pantheon of Mario-associated games (and levels), but unfortunately, the only screenshot that shows a lot of zombies is the one above. I want to see zombies boiling out of a castle.

Recently, Valve has been talking about bringing user-generated content for Left 4 Dead to the Xbox 360, but of course, anything that steps on copyright won’t be allowed, so no Mushroom Massacre for those of us who are restricted to the console. Ah, tragedy.

Left 4 Dead fans are pretty industrious, but replica first aid kits is definitely on the more creative end of the crafty spectrum. At the Etsy storefront 16 bits of Fashion Fury, sindeegee has a lot of items inspired by geek favorites, but the Left 4 Dead health kit really rules the day. You can get it with or without the text, or you can get a smaller version. Don’t expect cheap, though; the wackier handmade tribute items are often a little pricier, and at $45, I’d have to stop and think about just how much I love Left 4 Dead.

As a hilarious topper, however, sindeegee has promised to toss a few first aid items into the kits. It’s like health roulette! What will you get? Who knows. And that’s exactly how things should be during the apocalypse: surprising and possibly useless.

This custom ‘box is the work of one friend for another. How’s that for teamwork? Better than crouching together on a counter in a bathroom while zombies descend upon you and your pals, that’s for sure.

Nice glow, but I wonder if it’s distracting during game time?

deviantARTist think-purple admits that this plush may not be perfectly crafted, but it’s certainly good at draining all the menace from the leaping Hunters from Left 4 Dead. Even with a spill of blood down his little chin, this guy is pretty adorable.

The upcoming New Orleans-based sequel features some new special infected, which probably means a whole new wave of Left 4 Dead crafts. If they’re as cute as this one, then I’m almost as excited about that as I am for the game!

Crash Course may not be free for Xbox 360 players, but for only 560 Microsoft points ($7 in real money), you get an entire campaign as well as some other goodies. The new campaign, postered above, “bridges the gap” between the first campaign, No Mercy, and the original second, Death Toll. Considering the title, I’m guessing that No Mercy’s escape helicopter may not have been long for that zombie-riddled world.

The pack also includes a shorter and sweeter version of Versus mode that can be completed in only half an hour. I love Left 4 Dead like ice cream, but completing a campaign does take a significant chunk of time, so this is definitely good news.

Look! It’s the Winchester. Such a comforting and familiar site.The film fits surprisingly well into Left 4 Dead’s five-part campaign; players start off in Shaun’s apartment, move to his Mum’s house, then to Liz’s, and then to two stages in the Winchester.

The campaign is still in progress and it looks like they’re in the market for people who can work on it.

If you can play such killer mods as the above, the replica of the mall from Dawn of the Dead, you wouldn’t want to give that up! But Valve has helpfully assured Left 4 Dead fans that all custom content from the first game will be immediately compatible with the second, which is due later this year.

I honestly believe these may be the most amazing sugar cookies I’ve ever seen, but I may be biased on account of my raging adoration for all things Left 4 Dead. But check out those little faces! Not only are they pretty accurate, but they’re very well drawn as cookie decorations go. Jocelyn of Snack or Die reportedly used a food coloring pen to achieve those tiny facial features.

All that’s missing are a few sugary speech bubbles attached to the Francis cookies, extolling all of the things he hates, like vans and Ayn Rand.
