Tetris is a wonderful retro game that has been recreated throughout the ages. There’s real life Tetris, Tetris Soap, and even Tetris Furniture! These Tetris Leggings are just another manifestation of the love that we geeks have for the first truly addictive puzzle game invented.

Created by Black Milk Clothing, (I don’t know which supermarket they go to), these leggings are covered in the iconic colorful blocks, and even have score and level data up near the waist of the leggings. You’ve been trying to marry rich? Get the right kind of guys staring at you, and then take the opportunity to get to know some of us geeky men. These leggings are a potentially amazing conversation starter. “So… umm… I like your pants.” Hey – it’s not perfect, but it will have to do.

The Tetris Leggings are made in Australia, and cost $80 (USD). They may seem far away, but thanks to the inter-web, this new-fangled thing, everyone is connected at high speeds via dial-up computing devices! So, just hop-skididdly-doo on over to the Black Milk website and get your hands on a pair of these leggings before they sell out.

The Land Crawler xTreme robot offers its master a ride on top of its square platform top, provided you don’t weigh more than 175 pounds. As it ambles around, it definitely doesn’t look like the smoothest or speediest way to get around the place, but it sure has got plenty of style doing it.

Funny thing is the maker of the robot says he made the Land Crawler eXtreme as a toy for his 2-year old son because he told him that he wanted to ride on a robot. Why couldn’t we all have dads who were that handy with robotics?

Well if you think like the guys at Chambers Judd, you might imagine it doing something like this…

Yep, that’s right, this particular floppy drive sprouts legs to avoid spills. Floppy Legs is one of several creations of their fictitious “Attenborough Design Group”, which takes concepts found in nature to create products which automatically defend themselves from everyday threats.
Weta Legs let stunt people and performers walk, run or jump while maintaining their balance in a creature-like gait. The legs can even be placed inside of costumes, and can be used to climb stairs. Check out the video below to see the Weta Legs in action:

I’ve seen some strange looking cases and stands for media players in my days, but this one is definitely unique among the crowd.

Assuming you’re not an arachnophobe, you might enjoy one of these Spiderpodium stands for your media player or phone. But if you’re like many, you’ll probably think they’re too creepy looking. All I could think of when I saw these things was that scene from John Carpenter’s The Thing where the decapitated head sprouts legs and starts walking. If you can actually get over the creepy-crawliness of it all, the bendy-legged design is actually quite ingenious, letting you put your iPhone, iPod, or other handheld gadgets just about anywhere.

If spiders and other 8-legged things don’t give you the heebee jeebees, you can pre-order the Spiderpodium from breffo for £14.99 (appx. $23 USD).

Designer Chico Bicalho’s MxyKikker crawler is my personal favorite, what with its dozen or so spinny elbow macaroni looking legs which help it move along your floor. Each of these unique creations has a slightly different way of ambling around, but they all are about as whimsical as can be.

I’m not sure if you can actually make phone calls with the Bandai Phone Braver 7, but I don’t mind. I mean really, it’s a cell phone with bendable arms and legs, so what’s not to like?

The Phone Braver 7 (model GE-46) is an anthropomorphic mobile phone from Bandai’s Soul of Chogokin series. How I missed Phone Bravers number 1 through 6 is anyone’s guess. Maybe this chart will help you figure out what’s going on.

Actually, Phone Braver 7 is based on a “character” in a popular Japanese TV drama, K-Tai Sosakan 7, a drama about “a high school boy, his transforming cell-phone robot, and his six detective partners that fight against an internet-based criminal organization.” I’m surprised NBC hasn’t optioned it for the U.S. yet.

From what I can tell, this particular model features interchangeable light up faceplates, and makes sounds, but there are other versions floating around that actually have an LCD screen and play games too.

Priced at $135 (USD) over at XL-SHOP.com, Phone Braver 7 isn’t cheap, but it is awesome.

I hope this is what the iPhone 4 looks like.

Everyone has surely heard of bookshelf speakers. But have you ever heard of coffee table speakers? Well now you can say you have.

The innovative Table of Sound (ToS) coffee table was created by designers Wout Fierens and Miquell van Meelen of Wondering Boys for a recent competition over on designboom. The ToS provides a new way to enjoy your music right in the middle of your living room. Instead of pushing speakers out to the corners of your room, they’re mounted conveniently in the legs of the table.

Just plug your iPod into the table’s built-in dock, and crank up the tunes while you sip your coffee and read the morning paper.

The Table of Sound appears to be just a one-of-a-kind concept design, but I’d definitely buy one if I were in the market for a new coffee table… and a new stereo at the same time.

A while back I had a very popular post about Plen, a little bipedal humanoid robot who happened to be able to rollerskate. While that was all for show, this robot actually skates around as one of its primary methods of locomotion.

Developed by Hirose-Fukushima Robotics Lab, the Roller-Walker robot walks like an insect when in walking mode, but then can transform itself into a rolling, wheel ‘bot when it’s instructed to. You’ve definitely got to watch the video clip to get the full effect – it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen a robot do.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

I’m assuming that this dual approach allows the robot to deal with more challenging terrain when in walking mode, then move around more quickly on flat land in wheel mode. It’s all very cool stuff indeed.

There’s just something about anything with more than four legs crawling around that gives most people the willies. This centipede robot kit will have those folks heading for the hills.

The Gakken Mechamo centipede robot measures in at about a foot long, and runs on batteries. When fully assembled, the arthropod robot has thirty-two legs that move along in a ripple of motion, much like a real centipede. Unlike a real centipede, this thing makes quite the racket as it ambles across the floor, with tons of little metal legs tapping on the floor as it goes.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

It even comes with a wireless remote control, so you can have it sneak up on unsuspecting family members and scare the bejeezus out of them. This is a build-it-yourself undertaking here, with lots of parts, and decent amount of work to put together. There’s a detailed review which explains what’s involved in assembling one over at Dan’s Data.

The Mechamo centipede robot is available for $99.95 from Carl’s Electronics. Be sure to grab the English language parts list and instructions, or you’ll be thoroughly baffled when you try to assemble it.
