Princess Leia Held Together With Duct Tape

I watched Friends when it was on the air. The only episode I remember was the one where Jennifer Aniston was dressed like Princess Leia in that gold bikini. I think it’s safe to say that every geeky male fan of Star Wars has wished at some point that he could talk his girl into wearing that costume. Lindsay Boo Barrasse has made her own Leia costume.

It’s not the Slave Leia getup, mind you, but a mini-skirt version of the white dress Leia wore in the flick. Lindsay created the dress out of white duct tape and then wore it out on the town. The tall boots aren’t tape, but the hair rolls are.

The Leia buns are made from duct tape that are stick to some sort of headband. She topped it off with a laser pistol look-alike. I am hoping she does the gold bikini next time out. Lindsay, your Leia costume rocks!

The World’S Least Cuddly Ewok [Star Wars]

The Ewoks (you remember those guys; think Return of the Jedi, spears, grunting, adorable ears) are supposed to be pretty cuddly. They’re like little angry teddy bears… or they were, until they were re-imagined as something a little more square.

Larry Lars may have sucked all the cuddle out of this little guy, but there was no skimping on detail. From the minifig hands-as-ears to the spear clutched in his little square Ewok hand, this is a pretty faithful rendition. It’s just less round.

You can check out quite a few CubeDude figures on Larry Lars’ Flickr stream, including a slave Leia figure that managed to retain a few of Leia’s, uh… rounder, more cuddly bits. I’m not sure if “huggable” is really the best description, but she certainly seems softer than the poor ol’ Ewok.

Star Wars Sheets and Pillows for Lucky Kids (and Adults?)

I spotted this awesome Star Wars bedding for kids recently and thought, why do kids always get the fun stuff? Why am I stuck with some boring monochrome Calvin Klein crap when kids get to sleep on Leia and Chewie and the gang? I mean, look at this kid’s cool room, with the Death Star poster and all. So. Frakkin’. Jealous.

You can completely geek out your kid’s room with all kinds of Star Wars pillows, sheets, duvet covers, and what have you- including my favorite piece (that I might have to grab for my couch) which is a pillow with the iconic opening text.

These official Star Wars pieces are available individually from Pottery Barn Kids. They range from $24 to just under $200 for the various parts, in case you just want a splash o’ Star Wars instead of going the whole hog.

The one thing I do take issue with is that they’re listed under “boys bedding” which is just silly because I know loads of little girls who would totally dig this! You know, I would get a set for myself but I worry that people might think I was a little intense. Or that I looked really really really really old for my age.

This Star Wars Wedding is So Good, I’M Considering the Idea

This Star Wars-themed wedding is not your typical, run-of-the-mill Han and Leia affair. Oh no. For this wedding, all of the guests dressed to the nines in Star Wars costumes, and every detail was imbued with Force-y goodness.

The groom opted for a Mon Calamari mask (interesting choice) while the bride wore traditional republic clothing. (It must be love if you can say “I do” to someone in that mask.) The female officiant appears to be decked out in Leia-when-she-was-enslaved-briefly garb.

I think the absolute best thing is the amazing AT-AT cake with Ewok cupcakes, but I might be biased because I’ve always thought Hoth would be a nice place to winter.

A close second for coolest thing ever is what I infer from these photos to be a part of the wedding ceremony during which the groom vanquished Darth Vader in a lightsaber battle.

I’m impressed these folks made a Star Wars wedding seem classy, fun, and desirable- I didn’t think it could be done- and want to wish them the best for a prosperous and JarJar-free future.
