Damn, now I can’t get that song out of my head, and need to run out and grab a copy of LBP2 now. I’ll get right to that after I finish playing the Bulletstorm and Crysis 2 demos that are downloading onto my Xbox 360 tonight. I know, I can play Rated M and Rated E games on the same night. It helps keep me a well-rounded individual.

We’ve already seen how incredibly powerful the world-building engine is in the upcoming Little Big Planet 2 for the PS3. But did you know you could run a FPS inside of it? Nope, neither did we.

Thanks to the diligent work of a guy named Raphael (no, not the mutant ninja turtle, at least I don’t think so), we now have a fully-playable version of Wolfenstein 3D running inside of LBP2. Here’s a quick video demo of the level in action:

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Sure, it’s not exactly groundbreaking by today’s 3D graphic standards, but it’s not like we thought the LBP2 engine could even handle graphics in 3 dimensions. Granted, it’s not easy to pull off something like this. Just one read over this guy’s article on doing simulated 3D ray-casting in the LBP2 engine has my head spinning.

Still, stuff like this just continues to reinforce just how flexible the engine is, and we’ll probably see tons of creative levels once the game is released to the masses in January. From the looks of this demo, I’m sure that any day now, we’ll see an LBP2 version of Minecraft.

Crochet genius Maggie Wang has been putting her trusty hook to good use creating custom Sackboys (and Sackgirls), and some of her recent creations have a certain old school appeal. While you might expect to see Ulala from Space Channel 5 as a Sackgirl (and she’s just as adorable), Teen Wolf (yes, that one) might be more of a surprise.

Some of Maggie’s other Sackboys include Reno from Final Fantasy VII and, for all you classic cereal fans, Fruit Brute. These are definitely among the more creative and unique Sackboys I’ve seen, though considering how popular the LittleBigPlanet creations are becoming for crafters, I’m sure we’ll see even more unique Sackboy ideas in the future.

Want one of your own? She does take commissions… or you could just start practicing your crochet.

There is a glut of Sackboy stuff out in the wilds of the internet, celebrating everything LittleBigPlanet. You can get soft Sackboy dolls and spend your days watching videos of Sackboys (and girls) cavorting in custom levels, but if there’s one thing we’ve lacked, it’s Sackboy clothing.

Now, instead of dressing your Sackboys, you can dress up as a Sackboy. Your head can dress up, at least, but surely Etsy will eventually yield enough crocheted items to put together a full rig.

Etsy crafter ShadowsInTheNyte has quite the array of game-inspired gear for sale, including Kirby hats, and others that feature Moogle and Cactuar heads, for all the Final Fantasy fans out there.

The hats range in price from $8 for child sizes to $28 for a particularly elaborate Toadette topper.

In addition to Sony’s announcement of their new PlayStation Home Virtual Community for the PS3, they also showed off this cool new title called LittleBigPlanet.

The game is designed to be a co-op platformer, where individuals can design their own physics-driven platform levels, then run through them with friends. The game was shown running in real-time on what appeared to be PS3 hardware, and the graphics look truly wonderful in action. The game features some amazingly deep physics (think Half Life 2) and a robust, but easy to use level editor. This is just the kind of quirky, unique game that we’ve been hoping that Sony would reveal for their much-maligned console.
