I have the original Logitech Keyboard Case at home, but I have to admit that it’s slightly too bulky to lug around everywhere. Logitech has upped the ante with their new Solar Keyboard Folio, which looks even thinner.

The new accessory will protect your iPad, and uses the power of the sun to charge it up. Solar power is a cool addition, and the whole package looks a lot more streamlined than their previous Keyboard Case. It works with Bluetooth, and just like their earlier keyboard, this one lasts a long time on a full charge. Logitech states that it can last up to 2 years, which is amazing. It’s too bad the solar panels can’t be used to recharge your iPad too.

The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio is available for pre-order for $129.99(USD) directly from their online store.

I never got used to Apple’s Magic Mouse, but it seems that many people are keen on the idea of combining the trackpad with a mouse. Microsoft followed Apple’s lead and released their own touch-sensitive mouse, and now Logitech has thrown its hat into the ring as well with the Touch Mouse M600.

Unlike the Apple and Microsoft mice, the M600 does not support multi-touch gestures. Think of it as a basic trackpad in a mouse’s body – you can point, click, scroll and swipe anywhere on its surface. Nothing more, nothing less. The M600 does make up for its simplicity with a practical feature. The M600 can run on either one or two AA batteries. Put one battery in and you’ll be able to mouse around for three months; add a spare one and you’ll get twice the amount. You can think of it as either having the ability to run at half the power or store extra power. Both sound good in my book of good sounding thoughts. One other thing to keep in mind is that Logitech currently lists the M600 as Windows 7 only, so Mac users will need to stick with the Magic Mouse for now.

It’s less than two weeks until Valentines Day, and if you haven’t already gotten a gift for your geeky sweetie, here’s an idea. Instead of the usual candy and flowers, how about some cool technology, wrapped up in a shiny red package?

Logitech’s Mini Boombox is a great way to fill a room with sound, and it’s available in a nifty candy-like red color scheme, perfect for Valentines Day – but great long beyond February 14th. This compact sound system fits in the palm of your hand, but offers substantial sound when paired up with your Bluetooth-enabled gadgets. It’s also got backlit touch-based controls for playback, volume and pairing with your phone.

It’s definitely small enough to carry in a backpack or large purse too. Battery life is rated at about 10 hours, and it even will work as a speakerphone for your A2DP-enabled Bluetooth devices, thanks to a built-in mic. It’s also got a 3.5mm input jack if you need to go old-school. And if for some reason red isn’t the right thing for you, it’s available in black too – but that would sort of defeat the whole Valentines Day theme.

The Logitech Mini Boombox retails for $99.99(USD) and you can grab one over on Logitech’s website now. If you move quick, you can still get one in time for Valentines Day, so you don’t end up in the doghouse. Oh yeah, spring for some candy and flowers too.

It might not look like a normal computer mouse, nor does it look like a cube, but Logitech’s just-revealed Cube is a pocket-sized controller which works as both a pointing device for your computer and a presentation device in one.

When placed on your desk, the wireless Cube controller lets you control your cursor much like you would your smartphone’s touchscreen. They don’t describe it as a multitouch trackpad, though it sounds sort of like one to me. When you get up to give a presentation, just lift the Cube up off of your desktop, and it switches into presentation mode.

In this mode, it appears to use a motion sensor to determine which direction you want to navigate in your presentation. Clicking the top of the Cube advances slides, while flipping the mouse over goes back a slide. Keep in mind that it doesn’t function as pointer once you lift it from the desk like some of they gyroscopic mice out there, it only navigates between slides.

The Cube is compatible with both PCs and Macs too, and connects using their tiny, proprietary USB Unifying Receiver technology. The Logitech Cube will be available in both black and white, and is expected to be released sometime this month, and will retail for $69.99 (USD).

If you are a fan of the Logitech Revue, frankly you are one of the few out there that are. The system launched what amounted to beta software onboard admits the CEO of Logitech, and in the end the Google TV-based Revue was a massive failure that cost Logitech big time and money.

Logitech’s CEO Guerrino De Luca has admitted that the Revue was a “mistake of implementation of a gigantic nature.” That is as close as we are likely to ever hear a CEO come to saying their product sucked. The Revue was part of the reason for a giant $100 million loss in operating profits for Logitech.

The Revue is being phased out and once the final stock of the device are sold this quarter, it will not be replaced. My favorite quote and perhaps the most honesty seen form a CEO in a while is De Luca saying, “To make the long story short, we thought we had invented [sliced] bread and we just made them. [We made a commitment to] just build a lot because we expected everybody to line up for Christmas and buy these boxes [at] $300 [...] that was a big mistake.”

Are you ready for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3? If you are eagerly waiting for the PC version, then feast your eyes on this matching keyboard and mouse. Logitech has just announced the Logitech Laser Mouse G9X and Logitech Gaming Keyboard G105 to compliment the game.

These accessories sport MW3 themes and they also give you some extra function keys. The G105 Gaming Keyboard has six programmable G-keys, with three mode states each, which allows you to configure up to 18 macro combinations in any game. There’s also an optimized key matrix, so you can use more keys simultaneously in your FPS games, along with one-touch controls for volume, start, stop, pause, forward and back functions.

I have never been able to work well with a touchpad on a notebook computer. I prefer a mouse that I can move around with more accuracy and speed. I know more than a few folks that love the touchpad though, and if you are one of those touchpad lovers, Logitech’s latest is for you.

The 5-inch wide Logitech Wireless Touchpad is a very cool device for fans of multitouch that want to get some gesture control into their existing desktop computer. The Wireless Touchpad uses the Logitech Unifying Receiver that allows one tiny receiver to connect multiple wireless accessories. The device uses 2.4GHz tech for connectivity and shouldn’t have issues with interference.

Gestures include scrolling with two fingers, three-finger swiping horizontally moves you though photos and other stuff and vertical three-finger pages up or down. A four-finger swipe changes between apps. Of course a single finger acts as your pointer.

The Logitech Wireless Touchpad can be pre-ordered now for $49.99 (USD).

Logitech has just announced another Bluetooth keyboard for the iPad. It’s called the Logitech Fold-Up Keyboard, and I like it mainly because it folds up and tucks underneath your iPad 2. The only question now is do you want this one or the Logitech Keyboard Case? Each has its own advantages.

Unlike the Keyboard Case, the Fold-Up Keyboard doesn’t double as a case since it stays attached to the bottom of your iPad 2. On the other hand, it is compatible with Apple’s Smart Cover for protecting the screen. Once opened up, this keyboard is actually bigger than the one from the Keyboard Case, which is something that’s necessary if you use your iPad a lot to type stuff up. The keyboard is actually full-sized, but that means the whole thing isn’t as clean-looking or thin as the Keyboard Case.

It could make life easier in class or at work, if you use your iPad as a mobile workstation of sorts. The bad part is that it doesn’t double as a case for your iPad and it’s somewhat bulky. Logitech sells the Fold-Up Keyboard for $129.99 (USD).

I rarely use my iPad anymore except for the occasional vacation or trip where I don’t want to tote a notebook. Mostly my daughter uses the iPad for watching Netflix movies and she has a taste for any movie with a horse in it. The problem is that she doesn’t like to wear headphones and if she watches with a friend, it’s hard to hear since 6-year-olds never stop talking.

If you have a similar experience trying to listen to music with a group or to hear the audio from your videos, you might like this new Logitech Tablet Speaker for iPad. The new speaker is a rectangular looking device that is a bit narrower than the iPad in landscape mode. It plugs into the 3.5mm headphone port of the iPad and runs from a rechargeable battery.

The speaker has iPad in its name, but it will work with any 3.5mm headphone port device. The battery is good enough for eight hours of use per charge. It also comes with a fabric carry bag and has clips to grip the iPad and prop the screen up. The battery is charged via USB and the cable is included. You can pre-order the Logitech Tablet Speaker for iPad for $49.99 right now.

Early last year we talked about a steampunk wired mouse called the Rotobotmouse made by Aaron Ristau. The designer is back with another new mouse for geeks that like retro mixed with modern called the Wireless Mouse Version 2 and it shares many of the same features with that original. The new version is more hubcap-like than the first one though, plus it’s wireless.

You can get v2 mouse in multiple colors and a couple styles. You can even choose what typewriter keys you want for your mouse buttons. This mouse has a normal scroll wheel and under the chrome or painted dome is a Logitech M305 wireless mouse. That mouse is powered by an AA battery good for several months.

You can order one up to suit your tastes for $180. I am particularly fond of the black one with spikes. These mice don’t look very ergonomic though. Check out the video below to see the mouse in action.

Logitech has just announced a plethora of new tablet accessories. Of them all, the Logitech Keyboard Case is definitely the most interesting to me. As the name implies, it’s both a case and a keyboard for your iPad.

If you think the Keyboard Case looks familiar, that’s because its just a rebranded version of the ZAGGmate iPad case we reported on last year, but specifically for the iPad 2. The case and keyboard combo is made out of aircraft-grade aluminum and has high-density padding. The Bluetooth keyboard is built-in, and you can pop your iPad 2 in either vertically or horizontally and the case works as a stand. The Keyboard Case will sell for $99.99 (USD).

The Logitech Tablet Keyboard comes in Android and iOS models. The carrying case doubles up as a stand. It costs $69.99. Also on the release list is the Logitech Wireless Speaker, which connects to your iPad via Bluetooth up to 50 feet away. The rechargeable batteries last up to 10 hours. It also sells for $99.99. Finally, the Logitech Tablet Mouse works with Android tablets running Android OS 3.1 or later. It costs $49.99.

Apparently, Logitech has got even more tablet accessories coming out, so keep an eye out for more details.

Logitech doesn’t just do mice, they also make a whole bunch of other peripherals. And now, they are letting you play Big Brother thanks to their Alert app, which has been released for the iPad. It allows you to see what’s going on at home while you’re gone.

The app works with the Logitech Alert security system, which starts at $300 and goes up from there. The app also allows you to view stuff that was previously recorded, thanks to Alert Web and Mobile Commander, two other Logitech services. The complete system will be able to stream 720p HD video including sound. It’s perfect to spy on your pets or to see what the kids are up to. Seriously though, it could be good to have this, especially if you spend a lot of time at work.

The app itself is free and you can watch a live video at no charge. However, video recording is a premium service that costs $79.99 (USD).

[UPDATE 12/27/2010: Logitech has gone on the record to deny these claims, so it looks like this rumor was unsubstantiated.]

When Google TV first hit the market, I wanted it pretty bad. I want to be able to get lots of online content like Hulu and other video sites on my TV in the living room, but I don’t want a PC in there. I was really interested in the Logitech Revue box until the sites I wanted like Hulu and networks blocked users from accessing video using Google TV.

Things aren’t looking good for Google TV right now. Google has told partners to not unveil any new hardware at CES while it gets new software ready for Google TV. Presumably, the software is to fix the gripes reviewers and early users had with the system like poor search layout and other complaints. I hope the fix will also come with a deal that lets Google TV back into video streaming sites or Google TV will still be worthless to me.

DigiTimes is now reporting that Logitech has told Gigabyte, who makes the Revue box, to temporarily stop production until the new version of the Google TV software lands. That software update is expected sometime in January.

Well, it took a while, but Logitech finally released a wireless keyboard that doesn’t need any batteries. What does it need to charge up? The sun! I think that it’s a great idea.

The Logitech K750 will sell for $79.99 (USD) and is completely built out of recyclable plastic. Solar panels are placed along the top edge of the keyboard to keep things juiced. They even include a luxmeter to tell you how well the panels are charging up.

It not only charges in sunlight, but also works underneath artificial lighting, like a lightbulb. I’ve been using Logitech keyboards for years and have never had any major problems. I’m about due for a new one, and haven’t yet decided which one to get, but this one looks pretty cool.

Logitech has some of the better accessories and peripherals on the market for notebook and desktop computer users. In their notebook line, the company has a slew of items that will make your computer more comfortable to use and give it better sound including a new line of lapdesks that do both at one time.

Logitech has unveiled the new Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550. The thing is designed to support smaller notebooks and netbooks (up to 14″) in the lap of the user to keep your privates from overheating. The lapdesk has 4-layer construction to keep heat away from the user and uses air-mesh fabric to allow body heat to escape as well. It’s also padded to keep your lap nice and comfy.

The N550 also has a pair of speakers on each corner that connect to your notebook with a single USB cable for power and connectivity. Those speakers will improve the sound quality of your notebook while the lapdesk raises it to a more comfortable viewing angle. This thing may be perfect for watching movies on the couch or listening to music. You can pick one up this month for $59.99 (USD).

I am sure there are lots of folks out there who have repetitive stress injuries, like carpal tunnel from things like typing too much or spending excess time surfing porn and fwapping. If you have that sort of issue and need an alternative to a mouse Logitech has a new Wireless Trackball M570 that might be just for you.

The M570 looks like a mouse with a big blue ball on the side. That ball is what controls the mouse pointer on the screen and you can swirl it around using your thumb. The M570 also has a scroll wheel, two mouse buttons, and two more buttons on the side.

The wireless device connects using a nano receiver and the batteries promise up to 18 months of use per set. The M570 might also be a good thing for users who have too little workspace for a normal mouse. The M570 will work with Windows and Mac computers and can be pre-ordered for $59.99 (USD).

I love my wife and kids, but sometimes I just want to line them up and smack ‘em all at one time. I bet all of you know exactly what I mean. One of the things that used to drive me crazy was that I was the only one in the house who could figure out how to press a button on the remote and choose an input to change from cable to the PS3.

Thankfully, before I went crazy or started running around smacking family members with the remote, I found the Logitech Harmony One. The sweet remote lets you set up activities that change inputs and all for you with the press of a button. The downside is that the Harmony remotes tend to be expensive.

Logitech has unveiled a new remote today called the Harmony 300. This remote lacks the LCD screen and activities functions of its big brethren, but is cheap. The 300 will replace four remotes and can be yours for $49.99 (USD). It also uses a cloud programming system that promises to be very easy. I say spend the extra $50 bucks and get a Harmony remote with activities, otherwise you are still going to have to change the inputs for someone in your house.

A source has told video game news site CVG that Logitech is currently working on “a UMD drive add-on” for the PSP Go. Commence laughing.

A representative of Logitech’s UK office told CVG that they’re not aware of any such product, so “… it may be something the US office is working on.” If this UMD drive does come out, let’s hope that Logitech (or Sony) includes software that can rip UMDs so that people can transfer their UMD-based games to the PSP Go’s memory. Either that or sell it dirt cheap. Otherwise this is a slap in the face of everyone who bought a PSP Go.

If and when this device is released and all it does it play UMDs, it will be an implicit admission that the PSP Go is a crippled and expensive joke of a device. You know Sony, if you really want to go backasswards, you’d be better off bringing back PS2 software emulation on the PS3.

Logitech makes perfect use of wireless USB technology with their Unifying technology, which connects up to 6 compatible mice and keyboards (made by Logitech of course) to a computer using only a single, tiny receiver. It’s an awesome way to free up USB ports on your laptop, but obviously desktop users can also save space and eliminate clutter with this setup.

That’s the receiver right there, wearing pink skin and a gray shirt. Of course it’s the tiny thing in the man’s hand, the man being Logitech Senior Product Manager Wim Vanheertu. Watch as he explains his home computing habits, clumsily advertises Logitech devices and finally segues into the Unifying tech.

Some of the Logitech devices that are compatible with Unifying tech include the Wireless Keyboard K350, the Wireless Keyboard K340, the Marathon Mouse M705 (EMEA) and the Wireless Mouse M505. I hope this technology becomes standardized and then built into all computers soon. Lord knows size won’t be an issue.
