Another Perler bead pixel art creation from Technabob fave artist lostmitten, you can grab one over on her Etsy shop for $20 (USD).

In all, the set comes with 56 individual pieces, including 50 aliens, 4 defense bunkers, 1 UFO, and a laser cannon for wiping out the aliens. Lauren of LostMitten handstitched each one of these pixelated pieces, then attached a felt backing and a strong magnet to keep them up on your fridge.

For some stupid reason, the front of my stainless steel refrigerator won’t hold magnets, but I’d be willing to go back to a plain old white fridge if I could cover it with these.

You can find the complete set over on Etsy for $55 (USD). While that might sound pricey for fridge magnets, that’s less than $1 a magnet. Think about how much time it would take you to needlepoint and cut out 56 tiny magnets, and then get back to me. And if you really can’t handle that kind of spend, you can find smaller sets over on LostMitten’s shop for as little as $12 bucks.

Made from Perler beads, each square coaster measures 3.5″ x 3.5″. Aside from the world’s most famous plumbers, the set also features a Cheep-Cheep and a Bob-omb. You can get them at lostmitten’s Etsy page for $12. She’s also selling Earthbound coasters for all of you PSI-loving gamers out there.

Technabob fave artist lostmitten has recently broken into the art of needlepoint, hand-stitching pixel-perfect scenes from classic video games like this one from everyone’s favorite dot-gobbler, Pac-Man.

As an added bonus, you can actually lay your grubby little mitts on this for your own room. Of course, that is if you run willy-nilly over to Lostmitten’s Etsy shop and plunk down your $20 bucks before it’s gone.

Canada’s Lost Mitten crafts makes these 3-dimensional question mark boxes, perfect for your desktop, or hung from your ceiling. They’re made from a grid of fused Perler beads which happen to look a lot like pixels from a distance. One version of the block has a removable lid to hold your pens and pencils, while yet another comes with a set of colorful Mario coasters.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard you punch these blocks, no coins or mushrooms seem to come out of them. You can find these and a variety of other video game inspired art in Lost Mitten’s Etsy shop.

It took Lauren about 30 hours to complete this 9″ x 11″ scene from SMB, handstitching the entire piece from scratch. The dotted look of needlepoint really captures the look of the pixel structure of video games, resulting in one of the finest looking works of video game craft I’ve ever laid my eyes on.

While you can’t buy this particular piece, Lauren does have plenty of other nifty handcrafted items (many with video game inspiration) over on her lostmitten website, so be sure to check it out.
