Ah rubber band guns! There’s something cool about making something so complicated to launch a barrage of rubber bands. Check out this rubber band gun [JP] made by some Japanese genius, based upon the FN P90, a Belgian submachine gun.

Just like the real gun, the rubber band magazine is mounted on the top. There’s a clever gear of sorts that interconnects with the gun and feeds it rubber bands. There’s even an indicator to tell how much “ammo” you’ve got left. The whole gun is made out of wood and it looks pretty compact.

Inside, there’s a complex mechanism to allow you to shoot as many rubber bands as you want. Check it out in action in the video below:

I wouldn’t go parading this around though, it’s likely you’ll get arrested for carrying something that looks so dangerous.

I can’t believe this isn’t the first time that a rubber band machine gun has been featured on this blog. Dammit. I wasn’t even aware that rubber band machine guns existed until I read this article at JapanProbe. One day I’ll be better than you boss *sniff*. Meanwhile let’s take a look at this homemade, not-so-new-news-at-technabob rubber band machine gun.

The gun can fire up to 200 rubber bands in rapid succession, and yes, reloading is a bitch. It was made by a certain Mr. Nakamura, who has actually written a book about making rubber band guns. Here he is showing off his gun to an extremely overjoyed old man:

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Mr. Nakamura is of course, a member of the Japan Rubber Band Gun Shooting Association. I’m not kidding:

If there’s any association worth joining, it’s that one. Of course the association’s name can also mean that members shoot at rubber band guns, but we’ve got video of Mr. Nakamura and his l33t rubber band gunnery:

Want to make your own RBMG? Here’s Mr. Nakamura’s online guide. It’s in Japanese of course.
