Well ask, and you shall receive, courtesy of the “Magic LED Beauty Mask.” This ridiculous looking contraption claims to work all sorts of wonders for your skin in 7 to 21 days just by pounding the crap out of it with bright red LEDs. Supposedly, it does this by encouraging collagen and elastin regeneration by “stimulating fibroblast activity.” It all sounds like it’s grounded vaguely in medical science, but I still have my doubts. Here’s a quick instruction diagram, in case you’re curious how it works:

Sold? I thought so. Now, I know there are legitimate dermatological procedures which use lasers to treat skin problems, but this just seems like some sort of “wonder cure” which is more likely to give you a headache than to actually do anything for your skin. I suppose if it doesn’t work, at least you’ll have a cool mask for Halloween next year.

If you’re really keen on trying this thing, you can order a caseload of them wholesale over at Made-in-China, or if you just want a single one, Focalprice is retailing them for $199 (USD). Or, you could just buy a couple of these and strap them to a hockey mask.

And to help take those sentiments further – and in the literal sense – there’s the 3DPF Masks by REAL-f. These are custom-made and extremely realistic masks that could pass off as an authentic replica to your face. 3DPF stands for 3 Dimension Photo Forms, and they’re available as a mask or as a full bust of your head.

These masks are made by taking photos of your face from various angles and molding a three-dimensional copy from vinyl chloride resin. The method is so detailed, that even blood vessels and iris details are copied accurately onto the mask.

These masks or busts don’t come cheap either. The first mask will cost you a whopping $3,920 (USD), with each additional one priced at $780. Going for a bust will set you back $5,875, with each additional one priced at $1,960.

StarWarsRemix is a collaboration between Noah and Mica Scalin, Emma Beddows, and Scott Walker. The goal is to make Star Wars characters, things or vehicles out of everyday objects. It’s a pretty cool idea, and anyone can submit their projects. Freehand Profit is the guy behind the MASK365 project.

The helmet was made from a couple of pair of Superskate Stormtrooper mids, and is being auctioned off on eBay right now. At the time of writing, the current bid was $1,025 (USD), but the reserve has yet to be met.

His new venture is creating something you can own, use, and display, right in your very own home: his Fidelity-sound speaker systems.

Some of the designs featured on his site are the Ghanaian Ancestor Mask, the Droid, and an Italian Portraiture. Most of these speakers are special order so you’d have to contact Grant directly via email to set up the purchase.

Only the Ghanaian Ancestor Mask speaker has been set with a price, tagged at around $1,200 (USD) per pair plus an extra $150 for shipping.

The prices are pretty steep, but you can also view these speakers as a work of art to justify the price. That, plus the fact that they’re all designed and made by a renowned professional propsman.

This menacing mask was made by Etsy seller EpicLeather, and is hand-crafted from Veg Tan leather, with rivet accents. It’s lined with foam and suede for comfort. The mask’s creator says that he’s worn one on his bike at up to 85MPH, and it provides great wind resistance (although he’s quick to point out that it’s not a safety device).

While the mask pictured here is in a natural color, the stormtrooper mask can be ordered in a variety of colors, including white – which is the only color that I think makes sense. You can get your hands on one over at Etsy for $199.99 (USD).

Honestly, if I saw a dude getting off his bike wearing one of these in the brown leather, I’d think the apocalypse was upon us. On the other hand, if I saw him wearing one in white, with a matching helmet, I’d probably go up to him and start quoting lines from Return of the Jedi.

A new line of 3D eyewear that is RealD certified for kids 5 and up has landed from Hasbro branded just in time for little ones to beg for when watching Transformers: Dark of the Moon when it hits this July. The 3D eyewear looks like the top section of Optimus Prime’s head and there is a Bumblebee version as well.

The Transformers 3D eyewear will hit stores May 16 and will be cheap enough that parents will have a hard time turning little ones down at $9.99 per mask. I know I would totally pay a premium at the box office to get my kids these cool glasses rather than the plain ones they normally wear.

I think I can fit a couple of these in my wallet. As DVICE‘s Michael Trei said, the best smoke hood won’t be able to help if you don’t have it with you when a fire breaks out. The FireScuba is made of nothing but cardboard and a carbon filter, so not only will it be easier to carry, I’m sure it’s also a hell of a lot cheaper to make than a gas mask.

Obviously it still needs to be tested, but the designer is onto something here; I hope the FireScuba becomes an actual product. I guess it all depends on how efficient the carbon filter is in trapping smoke.

Thanks to a built in digital camera, Liquid Image’s new Underwater Camera Mask will let you capture photos or video of whatever you see while you swim. Just look through the view port, and press the capture button to snap your pix. A crosshair inside the mask indicates the center of the frame you’ll be capturing, and easy-to-see LEDs tell you the camera’s current mode. While you won’t be able to go deep-sea diving with the mask on, it will hold up for depths up to 15 feet of water, so it’s perfect for casual snorkeling.

The company plans on rolling out the camera at the upcoming 2008 CES show in January, and plans on releasing both 3.1 and 5.0 megapixel versions, with prices starting at $99 USD.
