Halo Master Chief Helmet Made from Mountain Dew Cans

Gamers thrive on caffeine, so they drink a lot of Mountain Dew. If you’ve been playing Skyrim lately and treating it like a full time job you probably have empty cans of the stuff all over your room right now. Don’t just throw them into the recycling bin. Recycle them into a cool Halo Master Chief helmet.

That’s what Cryoprime did. But that’s not all he has made. He made this Halo helmet for the release of Halo: Anniversary back in November of last year. He also made a needler and promises to put up a picture of that one soon.

If you check out Cryoprime’s DeviantArt gallery you will find a bunch of awesome can sculptures, which even include some kick-ass dragons too. This kind of recycling is way cooler than chucking it in a bin and having a truck pick it up.

Halo 4 Will Be Darker, Says 343 Industries

Halo 4, the next game the popular FPS franchise is due to land later this year. This will be the first game in the Halo franchise to be developed with no input from Bungie. Microsoft pulled the development duties from Bungie and brought to a team called 343 Industries. 343 has recently been talking about Halo 4, which will see the return of Master Chief who was absent for the last couple games in the series.

The new development team says that it will follow the same mold as previous games, but that Halo 4 will have a darker tone and will delve into the human side of Master Chief. Considering Master Chief is a war machine, I’m curious to see what sort of humanity remains. Creative director Josh Holmes does note that the team will keep the essence of Halo’s identity, even though the game will be much darker and more grounded in realism.

“We really want to give ourselves the freedom to take risks and drive things forward in a way that goes beyond anything that people have experienced before with the Halo franchise,” said Halo 4 creative director Josh Holmes.

I’m not sure how to feel about a departure from tradition in the Halo franchise. 343 needs to be careful to honor the franchise while updating and improving upon it. The game is very near and dear to its fans. It’s also the reason many people bought an Xbox (and Xbox 360) to begin with.

Wearable LEGO Master Chief Helmet: Easy Headshot

This awesome Halo Master Chief helmet is made out of LEGO bricks. While it looks pretty awesome, I just wonder how long it will stay in one piece if it’s actually worn around.

Ben Caulkins (aka Benny Brickster) created this helmet. Naturally, it’s wearable, but how comfortable is it? It includes some well-placed padding, just to make things easier if he wants to wear it around town. And let me state the obvious, the visor was not made from LEGOs – it came from a motorcycle helmet.

Ben mentions that he will never tell anyone how to build one, but that he plans on making a Master Chief costume all out of LEGOs someday. That sounds just a bit more ambitious.

Master Chief Approves of This Stamp

This here’s a replica of a 26th century stamp used by teachers – who are of course robots – to grade their students’ exams. Because in the 26th century, there is a grade higher than A+: Master Chief.

Papercraft Master Chief Towers Over Its Maker [Halo]

DeviantARTist Misty (aka ~gozita2003) must have just a little bit of time on her hands. At least that’s what I figure from the looks of this intricate giant Master Chief papercraft sculpture she put together.

The towering paper Spartan was made entirely from sheets of thick paper. It took Misty about 75 hours of painstaking craft over the course of 5 months to build the 7-foot, 6-inch tall Master Chief. The only thing that I would have done differently was use green construction paper.

No word on when she’ll start building the giant paper warthog for him to stand on the back of.

Halo Xbox 360 Mod: a Legendary Achievment

I spotted this great Halo-inspired Xbox 360 casemod over on deviantART this morning. Modder EvilDan created this scene of Master Chief and an energy sword-wielding Covenant Elite on the top (or side – depending on how you look at it) of a modded 360 for a friend. Lucky friend.

I love the glowing blue LED sticky grenade in the Chief’s hand. Nice touch.

That rapidly spinning external cooling fan looks like it would be a good weapon for dismembering enemies, but I don’t remember that part of the game. Maybe Bungie can include it in Halo 4.

Just don’t try and stand this console in vertical mode.

Slick Airbrushed Xbox 360: It’S All About Master Chief

It has to be tough to pick just one game to represent everything about a platform, but in a sense, that’s what you’re doing when you customize a gaming console. When it comes to the Xbox (original or 360), though, whether or not you like Halo, you’ve got to admit it’s certainly a flagship franchise for the console.

And Master Chief makes for one badass 360, too.

deviantARTist magaggie has done tons of airbrushed consoles, as well as other projects (including shoes!), and this Halo 3 Xbox 360 is just the latest. This Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 faceplate looks pretty awesome, too.

But it looks like Old Snake is all done in matte. Master Chief? He’s got the power of pearl.

Get an Early Start on Xmas With Xbox Ornaments

Sure, it’s only April, but you know what they say–every year, it’s earlier with the Christmas decorations, so why not beat the rush? It’s tempting when we’re talking about five bucks for handmade ornaments featuring iconic images from popular Xbox 360 games.

TheLemonadeStandShop may have a whimsical name, but Master Chief is serious business. The hero of Halo isn’t all that’s on offer, however; the Etsy marketplace also has glass balls decorated with a Gears of War motif.

There are several other ornaments for sale as well, with characters such as Hello Kitty, for those who prefer cuteness to carnage on the Christmas tree. You can even request a little personalization on the ornaments, though for $5.00, it seems doubtful that would extend to custom armor colors on the Halo 3 ornament.

Life Sized Master Chief on Ebay

If you’re looking for a serious conversation piece, check out this 7-foot tall statue of Halo’s Master Chief that someone has for sale over on eBay.

I guess Microsoft made a very limited number of these to promote Halo 2 when it came out. Now you can own your very own.

Hmmm, I wonder what’s inside that giant box? It says Fra-gi-le on the box, so it must Italian, right?

The current bid is just over $500, but it’s bound to go up before the auction closes on August 30th. The seller is located in the Atlanta area, so if you happen to live around there, you might even be able to pick it up and take it home to the wife and kids.
