Michael Crow of Mike’s Mosaics created these Mario and Mega Man mosaics using glazed terracotta and ceramic tiles, and they look awesome. I love that Mario is wearing his Tanooki look, though I think he’d have trouble getting off the ground with all the added weight of the tile and concrete backing board.

Mega Man looks mighty fine too, sporting his classic blue costume.

Mario is really substantial, measuring in at 27.5″ x 23.25″, while Mega Man is a bit smaller at 12.5″ x 15.5″. Since both have been sealed, they’re okay for indoor or outdoor use. I’d be so thrilled with these guys in my garden instead of gnomes (hint-hint). Mario is priced at $250 (USD), and Mega Man is going for $200. Both can be found over at Mike’s Mosaics Etsy Shop. Mike will also make custom mosaics of your favorite character on request.

Capcom announced yesterday that Mega Man X is now available from the iTunes App Store. The classically challenging 2D action platformer will have you ripping your hair out, thanks to its unforgiving bosses. You’ll get improved graphics and an easy mode for all you newbies.

It’s not an exact port of the original Super Nintendo game, but it’s the best you’ll be able to do on your iPhone (unless you jailbreak it and run an SNES emulator). Mega Man X is available right now at the iTunes App Store for $4.99.

Etsy contributor Dpad’s art lets you show off your love of retro games as well as your appreciation of art at the same time. He combines traditional art materials with pixel tiles made from old book covers to make his art. Unfortunately,  the Duck Hunt one has sold, but he’s got many more similar types of art in his store. The piece sold for $120, but he has other smaller works as cheap as $40 bucks.

Dpad has also got Mario and Mega Man mosaics made out of similar materials. Between the bunch, the Duck Hunt one has got more style, but I like the Mega Man and Mario ones better because I actually liked playing those games more.

It’s called Game On and it’s a funny and educational animation created by the Leicestershire Teenage Pregnancy Partnership in the UK. It’s a parody of the 8-bit hero Mega Man. I spent countless hours on those platformers on the NES, but never learned anything about sex by playing them.

Officially licensed by Capcom, the decals include a full set of Mega Man characters, including Fire Man, Bomb Man, Cut Man, Ice Man, Electro Man and Guts Man. Each one  is made from Re-Stik, Blik’s movable, reusable backing which lets you act out whatever level you want on your walls.

College Humor cooks up a bunch of wacky ideas for Mega Man bosses, in case Capcom ever runs out of ideas:

The game was made by Jay Pavlina, aka explodingRabbit, and man did Jay create one hell of an homage. Each of the characters retain their own moves or weapons – Samus can turn into a ball and set bombs, Mega Man can slide and charge up his Buster, and the cruel Bill unleashes the Spread gun if he gets a Fire Flower. Did you read what I just said? The Spread gun. In Mario.

As if that wasn’t enough, Jay added the soundtrack from the characters’ respective games. I tell you, playing Super Mario with the Zelda soundtrack egging me on was so much fun.

This cute/creepy mod is still in the early stages, undergoing some of its first tests. Creator Mike Hill warns that the mod is as yet rather unbalanced and that everything is subject to change. Now, at this point, you may be thinking “colorful? huh?” I know, the two shades of blue does not a rainbow make. But not only does this particular little Mega Man glow oh-so-brightly, his color scheme can be changed as well. Sometimes, you just have to power up.

The tiny (less than an inch and a half!) Mega Man LED fashion plate was made simply, from construction paper and plastic from CD cases, which means you can do this yourself if you can handle a little pixel art (and also put in the LEDs).
