Our pals over at Evil Mad Science Labs have created these battery-operated “Deluxe” LED Menorah kits which let you choose the type of lights you like the best. I personally love the ones with the giant 10mm LEDs, but you can choose from tiny 3mm LEDs too.

In addition to the ultrabright yellow version, there are blue and white LED variants available for a small up-charge. Personally, I think they’d look really cool with some ultraviolet LEDs. Each Menorah comes as a kit with a pre-programmed microcontroller that automatically “lights” an additional “candle” each time you turn it on. As the LEDs illuminate, the light up in the proper sequence.

This modern spin on the Menorah is made from recycled circuit boards, and offers up a bright red LED for each night of celebration. From a strictly religious standpoint, I’m not really sure if LEDs qualify as a appropriate substitute for candles – but on the other hand, this Menorah won’t burn your house down either. To illuminate each light, just flip the appropriate DIP switch.

The LED Menorah measures in at about 9″(w) x 5.5″(h), so it should fit nicely on your windowsill for all the passersby to see. And it runs on a single 9-volt battery which should last for several seasons (no more drippy candle wax).
