Is this evidence that Parkland High School was built upon the ancient crash site of the Millennium Falcon? Are they secretly planning a Smugglers school? Did George Lucas re-edit this institution?

Is the Millennium Falcon on the Bottom of the Baltic Sea?

The picture you see here may seem familiar to you, I know it made its rounds a while back when a company called Ocean Explorer ran across what appears to be the Millennium Falcon lying on the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The discovery is making the rounds again after another captain and crew specializing in deep-sea salvage apparently ran across the strange object. While the picture looks a lot like the Millennium Falcon, there apparently two parts on the ocean floor.

The deep-sea salvage ship discovered the site while towing a side looking sonar beneath the ship. The sonar discovered first a 400m long cylinder shaped object that was about 60m in diameter. A subsequent pass also discovered a disc-shaped object 200m away from the original discovery. The ship’s captain and crew are saying that they aren’t sure exactly what this is. Some are calling the discovery a UFO, and others are saying it’s nothing but natural occurring formations on the ocean floor.

The captain of the ship says he’s been in deep-sea salvage for many years, and has never come across anything like this. He notes that both of the objects are too large to be shipwrecks and are too large to the objects the might have fallen off ships on the surface of the Baltic. What we do know is that a casual exploration of the site is out of the question because of the costs involved. No one is willing to fund a full investigation until more details are discovered. What do you think is sitting on the bottom of the Baltic Sea? Maybe they’ve discovered Atlantis. Oh, and where’s James Cameron when you need him?

Star Wars Dioramas at The 50th Shizuoka Hobby Show: The Detailed Side of the Force

We’ve seen a few Star Wars dioramas – most of them made with LEGO – but these works of art from the 50th Shizuoka Hobby Show are unbelievably beautiful. They may not have hundreds of characters or battle scenes, but they more than make up for it in terms of polish and detail.

Unfortunately I don’t have any details about the construction or the creators of these models. All I know is that they’re beautiful. If you’re in a hurry at least look at the Death Star pictures. I kind of like the clean and well-lit take on it. The hidden passengers of the partially constructed Star Destroyer are also neat touches.

Dc-Falcon Dreamcast Casemod has Got a Lot of Spirit

The DC-Falcon was crafted by Steve Perry aka pezzapoo. Apparently the cult classic console and Perry’s Millenium Falcon toy were perfect for each other. The Dreamcast’s gameport plate easily fit into the side of the ship. After “lots of soldering” and the addition of two fans to keep the mod from bursting into flames, the DC-Falcon was born.

Neat. Someone should make an Xbox 360 Death Star mod; I think the 360′s ring is a perfect stand-in for the Superlaser Focus Lens.

Adidas Star Wars: Force Milk Franchise!

If you liked Marc Ecko’s line of Star Wars hoodies then you should prepare your wallet for another deluge of Star Wars-themed gear, although this time it’s from Adidas, so most of them are shoes, and unlike the detailed Ecko hoodies, some of them are just classic designs slapped with a Star Wars name and a palette swap. Most of the items in the series won’t be available until next month, while some, like this Superskate Mid Stormtrooper shoe, is already available at Adidas’ online shop for $100 (USD).

The Darth Vader track top is also available now at Adidas’ online shop, also for $100. It’s one of the few “literal” Star Wars themed item in the line. I guess Adidas just couldn’t resist the dark side of merchandising.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about: what seems to be a Stan Smith greased up and slapped with a picture of the Millenium Falcon on the tongue. Although I must admit this one’s kinda awesome.

That one’s not yet in stock; check out Adidas’ online shop for those that are already available. There’s also a microsite for the whole line, with a cool intro involving Vader, the Death Star and a city in your country.

Unlike the Millennium Falcon sled, you can’t ride this one, but you can still have fun with it. After finishing your very own papercraft Millennium Falcon, why don’t you welcome the New Year with it: tie it to a couple of firecracker rockets and watch it fly. It’s going to be wrecked, sure, but you can always make another one. Theoretically anyway. Me? I don’t even have the patience (or the printer) to print the patterns.
