Instructables contributor Jetpack5 has put together a tutorial showing how you can make these fun desk toys using old 3.5-inch floppies, and a couple of everyday tools like needlenose pliers, a hammer and a nail. Oh, and the Death Star requires a bunch of rubber bands too. Both the Falcon and the Death Star are made identifiable by the round metal floppy spindle, while the X-Wing is comprised mostly of those metal shutters which used to protect the delicate floppy disk innards.

I think these little models manage to capture the spirit of the originals, despite their relatively primitive shapes. If you’d like to make some for yourself, use the Force and head over to Instructables for the full instructions.

This Millenium Falcon bottle opener is just the right thing for popping open your bottles, and for evading stormtroopers and TIE fighters while you’re at it. If blue milk came in bottles, this would definitely be the right thing to open it with – but it’ll have to do for beer and soda bottles for now. It even has a magnet on the bottom of it so you can stick it to the side of your fridge the same way Han landed it on the side of that Star Destroyer.

If you prefer to carry a weapon instead of a spacecraft, you can always go with this Lightsaber bottle opener. If one was good enough for Anakin to open up some younglings with, it’s good enough for your Bud Light. Though this one is based on Luke’s saber, not Anakin’s though.

On the plus side, it actually makes that lightsaber “swooooosh!!” startup sound when you pop the top. See?..

Francisco Prieto spent over 3 years to compose this stop-motion clip, modeling all of the individual LEGO components from the 5,000+ piece model using 3ds max, along with the help of V-Ray. The animation runs just 3 minutes, 35 seconds long, and is well worth the watch.

Excellent animation there, Francisco. I can only imagine the actual assembly of one of these takes days or weeks, not minutes.

Andrea must have trained under a Jedi master who taught her the ways of the force fuzz. So far, she has needle-felted versions of the TIE Fighter, Falcon, an X-Wing and Yoda.

This LEGO mashup was constructed by a dude named Raphael Heusser and it’s very, very awesome. I wonder if he took the plans from a normal Falcon kit and then just changed the color of the bricks – it looks like had to modify it at least a little bit. The finished product looks like something you might see in the movie to me.

It’s done up in red with eyes, a smiling mouth, and the all-important 95 number on the top and bottom. What do you think? Is this the coolest LEGO mashup ever?

It’s inspired by the scene in Star Wars where Han, Luke, Leia, Chewie and the droids hastily escape onto the Falcon, and high-tail it out of the Death Star. The diorama and measures about 3’4″ by 3′, and is beautifully illuminated by about 50 LEDs. Some of the LEDs even blink in sequence, instead of just staying on all the time.

Dave says that he spent the last few weeks working on the LEDs and wiring in order to get the right look. All in all, it’s quite spectacular. It looks best at night. There’s even minifig Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker fighting with glowing lightsabers.

It took about six months and 10,500 LEGO bricks to build his diorama, and all told, Dave spent about €1,100 (~$1,489 USD) to complete this project.

Choose from Luke’s X-Wing Fighter, a soft and squishy AT-AT or the ship that did the Kessel Run in twelve parsecs, the fiber-filled Millennium Falcon. Each one of these plush toys measures about 6 inches across, and will look great scattered across your couch like the aftermath of the battle on Hoth. (Though a Snow Speeder would be more appropriate than an X-Wing.)

These each sell for just $9.95 (USD) each over at ThinkGeek. I only wish they had a plush TIE Fighter and Death Star to go with.

But in terms of appearance, I think the whole is less than the sum of its parts. You can get the Millenterprise Falcon t-shirt at Redbubble for $24 (USD). I wonder what a cross between Spock and Chewie – Woolcan? Vookie? – would look like.

LEGOLAND California will be the first of three parks to launch the Star Wars Miniland, including six scenes from the movie series, and one from The Clone Wars, comprised of about 2,000 individual models and over 1.5 million bricks.

The pictures show the LEGOLAND staff unloading boxes filled with all sorts of goodies, including a giant Millennium Falcon, an AT-AT, an X-Wing Fighter, along with other smaller characters like an AT-ST and R2-D2. Here’s a little video showing off the delicate flight of the Falcon as it makes its way to the model shop for final assembly, along with some other juicy LEGO treats.

The LEGO Star Wars Miniland should be open to the public this March, so if you happen to live near Carlsbad, California, you know to block out some time on your calendar to drop by this Spring. No word yet on when the exhibit will make its way to the other LEGOLAND parks in Denmark and Germany.

Han Solo won the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian, so maybe he’s to blame for the fact that there are only five oxygen masks and four vacuum suits. Needless to say that the ship was built for speed, not safety. This means that in the case of an emergency, they probably left Chewie behind. Wookiees do require oxygen, don’t they?

Naturally, a lot of space was dedicated to making the ship fast and good for moving illicit goods through the universe. . What’s missing? A lot of comforts that you’d find on any ship this  size. Although there is an area designated as the ‘grill’, but for some reason I doubt that they were cooking up burgers and steaks.

This new eBay listing was also made by Komanac for the local art show, Star Wars 33 & 1/3 Anniversary. It’s pretty large, at roughly 24 inches wide, 36 inches long, and 5 inches tall. It weighs somewhere around 4 to 6 pounds.

The aluminum Millennium Falcon has a starting bid of $200 bucks, and nobody has bid on it yet. Shipping this thing is significantly less that what I saw for the AT-AT. Plus, it’s guaranteed to make the Kessel Run in over 12 parsecs.

The R/C Falcon is available for pre-order now over at the Star Wars Shop for $44.99 (USD), and ships starting on August 1, 2010.

This custom electric guitar was built by Travis S. and incorporates an original Millennium Falcon toy as part of the guitar’s body. The toy was attached to a hard maple backing block, which in turn was attached to guitar neck blank. There are even light-up engine blocks, which is even cooler.

There’s even a Micro Machines Millennium Falcon that’s used for the guitar’s truss rod cover. It took Travis about a month to make, since he had to scrounge for all the parts.

This bigger-than-a-car Millennium Falcon kids’ fort even includes solar-powered LED lights positioned inside and outside the “ship”. Brandon from Little Mountain Productions helped build this amazing backyard play fort for 9-year old Christian. It was part of a Make-A-Wish Foundation wish granting. It’s going to be delivered to Christian so that he can live out his Star Wars fantasies in his own backyard.

All in all, I have to say that it looks amazing. I hope that Christian plays his heart out on this Millennium Falcon and beats Han’s Kessel Run record.

After Kayla Kromer’s hamburger bed, she decided to make something more vintage and retro, like a Star Wars themed-bed.

This bed has a bunch of nifty features, like LEDs that light-up like a Christmas tree and a hideaway sleeve for your keyboard. For many Star Wars geeks like me, the Millennium Falcon is one of the most important ships in the whole Star Wars universe, since the main characters spent so much time aboard it.

The only thing that I wonder about is what would a Star Destroyer bed look like? Which one would you prefer? Personally, I think that the most important ship in Star Wars was Boba Fett’s Slave 1.

The colorful snow sled doesn’t have the battle scars that the real Falcon has seen, but I’m sure after a few wipeouts (or laser cannon blasts from your neighbor with the personal TIE Fighter), you’ll have it looking pretty close. The sled is only big enough to hold one passenger, so you’ll have to decide if you want Chewbacca or Han to fly solo.

Sure, it’s not as cool as the handmade X-Wing Fighter sled, but this one is only $35 bucks and it probably wont’ break into pieces after a single run. Last I checked, the Millennium Falcon sled was out of stock over on Amazon, but you can get yourself on the backorder list so you can get yours just in time for all the snow to melt.
