I usually lug around a DSLR, but if I had something like this in my pocket, I might take loads more photos. The Minimo-X is the second generation of the Minimo camera, and it’s basically a toy camera, like many of the plastic ones already available. The distinction is that the Minimo cameras are digital and produce cool visual effects.

The Minimo-X offers a lo-fi tunnel effect and the ability to do double exposures, so it’s not just all cuteness. It comes with a 1-inch LCD screen, and it’s only 3.2 megapixel resolution, so probably less than your phone.

Weighing just 1.1 oz and measuring less than 2″ tall, it’s just the right size to pop onto your keychain, and take with you everywhere though. The cool thing is that it’s like a digital Lomo, so there’s plenty of cool artistic things you can do with it.

The Minimo-X camera is available over at Photojojo! now for $130 (USD).

Marvel Digital’s 3G/LAN to WiFi Router is a portable device with a rechargeable battery and a 3G network dongle allowing you full mobility while up to 5 users get access to high speed Internet over the 3G mobile network.

The charge will last a few hours, but it allows you to bring Internet access where there is none, which happens more often than not. This router uses a single 3G SIM card to provide wired and Wi-Fi access to the Internet. You’ve probably used your smartphone in this capacity, but this does make a lot more sense, especially if you always need to be connected, and don’t want to kill your cellphone battery.

The 3G/LAN to WiFi Router will cost you $65 over at Marvel Digital’s store, and no there aren’t any superheroes included.

Francesco calls this his Mini Lomo Pinhole, and although it really isn’t a Lomo, it’s incredibly small and cute, and this tiny pinhole camera can actually take pictures, which is even cooler.

Here’s an example what the photos that this little camera take look like. It looks pretty interesting and I want one. Actually, I want 10 – because at this size, they’ll get scrunched up in my pocket pretty quickly.

Are you an Apple fangirl? Do you like playing with dolls? Then have I got a deal for you!

These pint-size acrylic Apple gadgets from LiLu are exactly the right size for setting scenes with those googley-eyed Blythe dolls. The Li Lu series of miniature electronics are perfect for geeky dollhouses everywhere.

The LMax (iMac Mini) measures just under 4-inches wide, and sells for $14 (USD), while the teensy 0.67 inch tall iPhone sells for just $3 bucks. While the iMac’s proportions look pretty accurate, the tiny iPhone looks a little thick for it’s size. Well what do you want for $3 bucks? At least this one doesn’t require a 2-year contract from AT&T.

There’s also a miniature MacBook Pro- rebranded as the Lbook Pro, which sells for $14 (USD). I can only find the shiny black one for now, but they have also made a white version before. And I have photographic evidence to prove it!

Originally available only in Thailand, you can now find these awesome miniatures over at Etsy’s LiLushop.

Looking for a PC that won’t take up much space on your desktop? The new Ripple LOOK PC is definitely one of the nicer looking small form factor computers I’ve seen.

The Korean-built compact Ripple LOOK PC measures in at just 215mm x 235mm x 69mm (appx. 8.46″ x 9.25″ x 2.71″). While that’s still quite a bit larger than the 6.5-inch square Mac Mini, it’s still much smaller than most desktop PCs. Of course, what really caught my eye was the interior designer-friendly styling of these compact machines, which come in several artistic case patterns.

The other nifty thing about the LOOK is that it doesn’t just live on the desktop. There’s a set of available VESA mounts for the computer that let you attach it to either a wall or to the back of your monitor, getting it up off of your valuable desktop real estate.

The systems come powered by either an Intel ATOM N230, N270 or N330 processor, and are available in 1GB and 2GB RAM configurations with a 160GB or 320GB hard drive.

The LOOK is currently available only in Korea, but there’s an outside shot that someday you’ll see these little PCs elsewhere on the planet. There’s no word on pricing yet.

Welcome to another edition of Cute or Stupid?, a feature that I personally don’t want to do anymore but fate seems to want me to continue, so. Here we go: up for deliberation is the Super Mini Cube, allegedly the world’s tiniest speaker. Measuring a scant 26mm (1.02 inches) on each side, the “no bulky” speaker delivers a dust-blowing 0.8 W of power. I don’t know about you but I would never associate “power” with 0.8 watts.

The super mini cube has a built-in 3.5 mm stereo jack, so all you need to do is plug it into an audio player and you and your insect friends are ready to rock out. It’s rechargeable battery lasts for up to 5 hours, which is longer than the lifespan of some insects, so I guess that’s a good thing. It only has an on/off switch, none of that fancy volume control tech. Although if it had a volume dial I bet it would be something like “0 – 0.25 – 0.5.”

I’m amazed that the Super Mini Cube didn’t fall apart while busting out Rammstein. $10 USD gets you one at USBfever. Insect friends not included. Time to vote: Cute or Stupid? I vote Stupid. For $10 more you can get a decent 2.1 set. I know that that wouldn’t be portable, but come on. Let’s have some standards. Even the PSP’s speakers are better than this one. I hope.

Want a small Mac, but like the look of the beefy aluminum Mac Pro tower? Too impatient to wait for Apple to make a metal Mac Mini, this one modder decided to craft his own.

While not running on official Apple hardware, the Hackintosh Jr. gets its looks from the big tower Macs, but at 5.5″ (h) x 7″ (w) x 5″ (d), it’s not much bigger than a Mac Mini (although it is quite a bit taller).

Modder Widefault (the same guy who gave us the Geiger Counter PC and the Lunchbox Firewall), built the Hackintosh Jr. from hand-shaped mesh and sheet aluminum. At the heart of the Mac Hack Jr. is an Aaeon GENE-9310 sub-compact mobo, sporting an Intel Core Duo T2500 processor, 2 GB of RAM, integrated Wi-Fi connectivity and a 2.5″ Seagate Momentus hard drive.

Of course, when I first heard the name “Hackintosh Junior,” I thought that Widefault was talking about this system…

This amazing new advertisement for MINI uses augmented reality (AR) technology to create a truly interactive media piece out of a 2-dimensional magazine ad.

Using AR tracking technology, as you hold the ad up to your computer’s webcam, you’ll see a 3-D model of a MINI Cabrio convertible that moves as you turn the sheet of paper around.

All you need is a copy of the ad, a webcam, and a web browser (sorry, Internet Explorer/ActiveX only) to view the 3-D AR effect. It won’t hurt if you can read German too.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

The ad campaign was created by Munich, Germany agencies Buzzin Monkey and die agentour GmbH.

The ad appeared recently in three German automotive magazines: Auto, Motor und Sport, Werben & Verkaufen and Autobild, but if you want to see how it works right now you can print out a PDF of the ad and head on over to the MINI augmented reality web site to check it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

MINI today announced that they’ll be giving up to 500 test drivers the opportunity to test drive the new no-carbon footprint electric MINI E before it’s released.

The diminutive 3-door MINI E is powered by a 100% electric motor (hybrids are for wusses), and still manages to go from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in about 8.5 seconds. While a top speed of 95 mph (152 km/h) isn’t going to break any world records, it’s plenty for anyone who doesn’t spend much time on the autobahn or the race track.

The car gets its juice from over 5,000 individual power cells, joined together to form a single composite battery. At peak, the motor can crank out 204-horsepower and 162 ft/lb of torque – not too shabby for an electric car.

With a cruising range of 150 miles (appx. 240 km), the MINI E should be fine for heading back and forth to the office, grocery, or any other short haul local destination.

If you live in Southern California, New York City or New Jersey, you could be selected to be one of the lucky early test drivers. For your chance to test out the new MINI E, head on over to MINI Space and fill out the form for more information on applying.

When it comes to retro game consoles, it seems like Nintendo and Atari get all of the attention. How about some love for the classic ColecoVision, the first console to bring arcade-quality graphics into your living room? This mini ColecoVision casemod is surely a good start.

The guys over at GameSniped stumbled onto this custom-modded miniature version of the classic console for sale over on eBay. The mini ColecoVision does everything the original console did, only smaller.

According to seller doubledownon11, the modded console is a whopping 50 square inches smaller and 1 pound lighter than a stock ColecoVision system. In addition, the system has been upgraded with composite, S-Video and RCA audio jacks. There’s also a handy “intro skip” button, which lets you zip past the annoying 10-12 second loading screen on Coleco-branded games. The unique console is in pristine condition and includes a refurbished ColecoVision hand controller, a Donkey Kong game cartridge, a power supply, and a six foot, gold-plated, A/V cable.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

With a current bid of $379.99, it’s about twice what an original ColecoVision would have cost you back in 1982, but adjusted for inflation it’s actually a better deal.

If you thought the Mini Cooper was small enough already, get a load of these Mini Mini Cooper flash memory devices.

The Mini drives are the latest wacky USB devices to hit the streets. Each one is a 1:48 scale replica of an actual Mini. And just like a real Mini, you won’t be able to fit your luggage in there – but you will be able to store thousands of images, MP3s or a couple of videos.

And if the car flash drive wasn’t cool enough, check out what happens when you dock it with your computer. The headlights light up! Sweet.

If you’re wondering why the ones in the images above don’t look like today’s Minis, that’s because Vavolo will be shipping a variety of designs, including the retro Austin Mini pictured above, a rally Mini and (my personal favorite) a Mini police car, designed for transporting really tiny criminals.

Expect the Mini USB Flash drives to ship this August from Vavolo.

Like the abandoned shell of a hermit crab, Mac enthusiast Rich Willis removed the innards of the old G4 cube and filled its guts with his Mac Mini as well as some add-ons. He even went the extra mile to add a virtual laser keyboard so the whole thing is nicely self-contained.

Now he needs to put the whole thing inside of a Macintosh Classic, and the “big fish eats little fish” illusion will be complete.
