It was created by artist Johan Bruninx, who makes sculptures using old toy parts covered in a shiny metal finish (among other things.) I only wish I could buy one of these for my dining table. All I can imagine is setting up a tiny scale model of Tokyo on my table and then putting this thing in the middle. I would totally ditch my current candleholders for this one in a heartbeat, and set Gojira loose on my houseguests instead.

This killer axe was made by Ikon Customs using birdseye maple, an appropriately evil pincher claw headstock, and has a purpleheart fretboard with glow-in-the-dark dots. I bet that’s exactly what Cthulhu’s heart looks like – purple with glowing dots. At least that’s what I like to imagine. Of course there’s the monstrous green body in the image of Cthulhu himself – complete with beady red eyes. Here’s another one they built, with a slimy looking yellow and green neck – which also seems appropriate.

You can order your own custom Cthulhu guitar for $699 to $1199 (USD), depending on the guitar model and features you select. Cthulhu himself orders you to buy one or he will make you suffer an eternity of madness.

God only knows what they will build next when they tire of playing with their robot spiders and snakes. I would say that these people need to be stopped, except that if I do say it, they will probably send these metal demons to my house and I will be slowly digested over 100 years in this snake’s belly.

One of the creators says that Titanoboa is supposed to make people contemplate historical climate change. No, that didn’t really work for me. It just makes me want to kill it and save humanity, even though I’d probably just hide in the corner and whimper when that failed.

Yep, what you’re looking at here is the latest in DIY geek tech – the Yarn Monster. Created by Todd Treece of Union Bridge Labs, it’s designed to do one thing, and one thing well. He gobbles up loose yarn, spinning it into a perfect ball. Yarn Monster has brains powered by a couple of Arduino pro mini controllers, and even comes with a Mini-me remote control. But it’s not the functionality and technology that makes Yarn Monster special. It’s the way he looks when devouring yarn – and the brilliant promotional video clip. I don’t know about you, but that giant plate of yarn spaghetti reminds me of that scene with the dogs eating pasta in Lady and the Tramp. I wonder if you got two Yarn Monsters if they’d kiss? A pledge of $115 (USD) or more will get you a Yarn Monster kit, and $165 or more will get you a fully-assembled one. You’ve probably guessed it already, but the Waddler makes your iPhone look like a waddling penguin while the Monsta is just plain silliness. They come in whimsical designs, but also include the practical addition of textured silicon for a better grip and a distinctive tactile element.

The device allows you to control the tracks on your Apple device via simple hand gestures. You can move your hand right to left to skip forward and left to right does the opposite. The idea is that you can move between tracks without taking your eyes off the road.

The adapter plugs into your iPhone using the charge and sync port. A 3.5mm headphone plug connects the iPhone or iPod to the car via an aux input. The clear downside I see to the design is that if your aux input is a long way from your DC outlet this thing might be worthless. My aux input is in the center console and the DC outlet is in the center of the dash so this would never work for me.

The headphones have a price that might hit you as hard as a light disc to the groin though at $349.95 (USD). Cheap they ain’t, but cool they certainly are. The design of the headphones is mostly white and is inspired by the costumes worn by Daft Punk in the cameo in the flick.

They are aimed at music and movie fans and the removable mic boom means that gamers can use them as well. The drivers are extra large and promise deep base. They have LED lighting to glow like all proper TRON gear should and have an over-the-ear design with comfortable ear pads. Monster also equips the headphones with its ControlTalk cable for use with music phones.

With a name like Eat Them!, would you expect anything less? The new downloadable title from FluffyLogic was shown off at this week’s GamesCom show in Germany. In the game, you create custom monsters, and do your best to avoid being destroyed by the army while you smash the town and its people to bits. To me, it looks like a modern-day remake of games like Rampage or Crush, Crumble and Chomp!

Expect Eat Them! to stomp its way onto the PlayStation Network this December.

As you may have guessed, the monster was made specifically for the Surface, Microsoft’s super multitouch tabletop computer. Right now the monster can’t do much besides suck bubbles up its butt (and poop them out if its eye is poked), but it does a good job of illustrating the level of interactivity that’s possible with the Surface.

Imagine what the Surface can do to make chess more exciting. What was that chess game on the PC again, the one where the pieces actually attacked and killed each other? Now think of that on the Surface. That’s a chess a fool like me could understand.

Fresh off the boat from Japan, this USB gadget looks just like the grotesque giant-headed, acid-blood-dripping, eponymous alien of Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien vs. Predator, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, Alien: Resurrection (and the soon-to-be Alien prequel).

Just plug the nasty thing into your USB port, its grotesque inner mouth randomly pops out of it’s mother mouth, backlit by a glowing red LED. Yummy.

If you’re a fan of Alien, you’ve gotta grab one of these. They’re available for pre-order over at Strapya World for ¥3990 (appx. $44 USD), and should start shipping this December.

I think I’ll put this right next to Hello Kitty and Domokun.

I’m not sure if the giant eye or the crooked fangs are more charming here. I just know that I may have actually released a girlish cry of glee when I first came across this case. It’s the Eye Phone case, by the way. As though the thing itself wasn’t already disgustingly adorable!

Oh, but that’s not all. The ArtsiBitsi store has got pouches and cases galore, cases for everything from crayons to cameras, and they are all beautifully stitched and fitted with cunning little faces.

Seriously, this has to be the least-scary monster I’ve ever seen, even with those fangs. He’s got those big, friendly eyes and a sort of goofiness in the overall design. Perhaps the best part? The Etsy seller responsible for these cute creations is named wiggletiggy. Could that be any more adorable? Unsurprisingly, wiggletiggy’s shop is filled with all sorts of fantastic creatures, only some of which are protecting gadgets. The rest are just hanging out and being cool, waiting for someone to take them home.

This case is foam-lined–and if you’ve ever dropped a DS, you know how valuable that is. An extra layer of protection and an adorable design. How can you go wrong?

The titular aliens from the Alien films are, in my opinion, right at the top of the scariness chart, which means I never, ever thought I’d say anything based on their design was at all cute. And yet, I find the little tiny LEGO alien pretty adorable. I think this is what it must feel like when you think the sky is falling.

Creator onosendai2600 isn’t just fascinated with the aliens; there are all sorts of projects on that Flickr stream–there just aren’t quite any that are as scary-yet-cute as this.

Jeebus. In case you haven’t noticed, the baby sits on the brain of the cyclops, which is probably what’s making his eye pop out like that. Imagine if someone sat on your brain.

The outlets are widely spaced so that even the bulkiest of adapters won’t block the other outlets (the 3rd outlet is on the other side. I think.), and it plugs it into itself when not in use, eliminating cable clutter. Measuring only  1.8″ x 2.25″ x 4.75″ and weighing a scant 6 oz., it’s a nice accessory for the traveling techie. As you might have deduced from the image above, the Make-My-Own-Monster service is so simple it’s magical. Or diabolical. I still can’t decide. Anyway, customers just draw a monster and FAO Schwarz turns it into a stuffed toy. FAO Schwarz will send a kit that contains a set of colored pencils, paper and a “detailed questionnaire”. I imagine the latter will have something like, “Do you certify that your monster is not a crudely disguised depiction of a sexual organ? (Yes/No)”. But seriously, the questionnaire is actually pretty neat; FAO Schwarz says that it’s included so that customers can create a back story for their monsters. The story and other details will then be written on the monster’s tag.

Although Make-My-Own-Monster is certainly impressive because the finished trash product looks really close to the original drawing, it’s disappointing that the store has to send you a kit first. Who doesn’t have pencils and paper? Wouldn’t it be faster if customers could just send or email their drawings? And what if I want to use ketchup and mustard to draw, so that FAO Schwarz will also know how my monster smells like?

Now before you get your kids excited about having a green Pikachu, you have to warn them that they can’t draw any copyrighted entities. Then explain what “copyrighted entities” means. If they refuse to obey you and keep on making Ben10 figures, ditch their copyrighted entities and just send a drawing of your router. Or a dot. Or your face. That’ll teach them.

Coming this December from Bandai Japan, this remote-controlled Mechagodzilla robot is truly a sight to behold.

Towering at nearly 20-inches tall (1/100th scale), the mechanical creation is faithful to the version of the Robosaurus Rex from 1974′s Gojira tai Mekagojira (Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla).

Mechagodzilla has light up eyes, nostrils and mouth, and his spinning rocket-launcher fingers and toes have flashing LEDs in them too. But the best part is that Mecha can go all Linda Blair on your ass (or Steve Martin in The Jerk), spinning his head in a complete circle as he screeches sound effects digitized from the movie.

Now the bad news. Not only is Mechagodzilla only available in Japan, he’ll set you back a whopping ¥84,000 (about $828 USD, depending on how the dollar is doing). Still, if you’re a big fan of the classic franchise, you might just have to pinch your pennies for one of these.
