Everything’s all about your mood and social networking these days. Remember the heat-sensitive iPhone backing that turns your smartphone into a sort-of giant mood ~~ring~~ phone? Or that creepy Jell-O ad campaign with the giant face billboard that smiled or frowned based on the moods of people in Twitterverse?

Now take everything a notch further with your very own personal mood detector and tweeter with the Q-Sensor Bracelet.

So what makes the Q-Sensor by Affectiva any different from all those other self-proclaimed mood-detecting products? Well, for one, it makes use of sensors that measure your galvanic skin response, an indicator of your physiological or psychological arousal (and also what supposed “lie detectors” measure.). It also keeps tabs on the electrical conductance of your skin, which changes with varying moisture levels on your skin (sweaty, much?)

Aside from that, the Q-Sensor also measures your temperature and overall movement, and inputs all this information into pre-installed software to determine your mood. And if you want it to, it will Tweet your mood.

Sounds pretty cool, right? The only downside is the $2,000 pricetag that comes with it. Of course, Affectiva doesn’t intend this as a consumer gadget – it’s actually targeted at medical and research environments, where the cost shouldn’t be such a factor.

Mood Dress Changes Colors with Body Temperature

If your fashion tastes lean more towards the geek than the gross like Lady GaGa’s meat dress, the cool color-changing mood dress might be for you.

The gown is made using SKIN technology and the dress has bubbles on it that glow and change colors depending on the wearers body heat or mood.

The dress was made by Francesca Rosella of CuteCircuit. It’s sort of like a wearable mood ring, only it’s a dress. It isn’t as sexy as that LED snowball dress, but it’s cool.

I think mood clothing is a great idea, that way I could tell at a glance if I should talk to my wife or run and hide.

I think social networking is sometimes like over-sharing. Really, do you really need to share every little insignificant detail of your life with the entire universe? Now here’s something that reveals even more about your inconsequential tweets – clothes that tell the whole world how you feel!

The odd thing is that this bit of wearable technology by Vanessa Sorenson is that it doesn’t actually detect your mood using any kind of fancy emotion-sensing sensors. Nope, it just connects to a computer to look at keywords in your tweets to analyze your mood.

The algorithm scans the “mood” of your tweets. This in turn lets the color of the embedded LEDs change, depending on your feelings. Needless to say that you’d probably have to be in Wi-Fi range for this to work. I don’t know about you guys, but I prefer not letting everyone know how I feel. I just write for blogs.

That’s all I need now – furniture that tells me how I’m feeling. Yep, that’s exactly what this glowing chair is all about – detecting your mood, and adjusting its color to match.

Created by UK designers Aether & Hemera, the Mood Chair is like a Mood Ring for your ass. The chair is designed to change colors based on the user’s mood as well as the environment around them. Now how this hocus-pocus works, I dunno. A&H say it’s something to do with “LEDs, embedded micro-chips, and appropriate sensors”. Natch.
