The Lit C-1 is a small, single-seat electric urban vehicle, combining the size of a motorcycle with the apparent safety of something bigger. The C-1 uses electronically-controlled gyroscopes to remain upright even in the case of an accident. However, you’d best be careful if you’re driving this, because the makers have dubbed it the “Rolling Smartphone” because of its extensive connectivity to mobile devices.

It can be charged up in six hours, has a top speed of 120mph, and the battery provides enough autonomy for 150 to 220 miles. It will be available in 2014 and will sell for $12,000 to $16,000 (USD).

The 355 volt Lawless Electric Rocket Bike was built by Lawless Industries and Orange County Choppers. Rider Larry “Spiderman” McBride hit a top speed of 201.37MPH in just 6.94 seconds on this incredible bike. Not only is that an amazing feat for an electric vehicle, but just think about the acceleration there – 0 to 200 in under 7 seconds. That’s face-peeling-off speed. What’s really cool is not just how fast he goes, but just how quiet the bike is going from a dead stop to over 200mph. I wonder how far the bike can run at that speed before it needs to be plugged back in for a recharge.

This new line of motorbikes not only looks great, it runs on electric power, making them green and quiet. There are two main bikes in the line, one designed for off-road action – the RedShift MX, and another designed for city streets – the RedShift SM. The 260lb. RedShift MX offers a continuous output of 25hp and a peak of 40hp, and can run for up to 2 hours on a charge. Top speed is 80mph, and it’s tuned for off-road use, with its 21″ front and 19″ rear spoked wheels.

The RedShift SM has the same bones as the MX, but is designed for a smoother ride, with 18″ spoked wheels, and a slightly heavier weight of 265lbs. It will also be available as a special police cruiser called the RedShift PD. All three bikes have durable frames designed to take a beating whether on the trail or in the city.

The RedShift MX will retail for $14,995(USD), and the RedShift SM will sell for $15,495. You can get on the pre-order list with a $100 deposit over at BRD Motorcycle’s website.

The Monocasco Concept Bike was designed by ART-TIC Team and it’s a tribute to the original OSSA Monocasco and Herrero, who died on his OSSA in the 1970 Grand Prix. It’s definitely got that classic café racer look.

To make it into an comfortable everyday city bike though, the seating position might have to be changed a bit.

It will be interesting to see if this electric bike ever gets made. Since it was designed for OSSA, it’s always a possibility.

The Xenon bike is driven by a powerful 40,000W electric motor and gets its juice from a lithium-ion battery system. Its riding range is said to be only about 30 miles, with a top speed of 100 mph. The blue lights on the bike are made using LEDs, and it’s got 32-inch hubless wheels. In all honesty, while it looks cool, it also looks like a pretty uncomfortable ride, so 30 miles is probably plenty.

You can purchase one of these motorcycles from Evolve, but if you want one and want to do some good for charity as well, one of the first examples has landed on auction at Charitybuzz. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Global Green USA, who is focused on making the world a more sustainable place and protecting our natural resources.

At this time, bidding is up to $23,000 (USD). The auction goes up in $1,000 increments and so far, the reserve has not been met. There is no indication what the reserve price might be, but we can assume it’s closer to the $55,000 MSRP. The auction started on February 22, 2012 and will end on March 14.

If you win this bike, I expect a ride.

All of the pieces are leather. The gloves, boots, belt, pants, and jacket. It includes removable CE approved body armor and a spine protector, which comes in handy for crashes since you yourself are (probably) not a super soldier like Steve Rogers.

The full outfit costs $1,290(USD), and that doesn’t include the shield or a helmet – but hey, this is still a quality suit for the price. If you pre-order from UD Replicas now it should arrive in late April. This is a must for Captain America fans who cruise the open road.

But if I were to take up motorcycle riding, this would be protective gear which would convince me to ride.

Designed by Rejean Neron, the Safety Sphere is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a special bike suit that automatically inflates into a sphere, enveloping the rider and protecting them from injury if they ever go flying off the bike in a crash. The suit inflates to its full capacity in 5/100ths of a second, and fills with compressed air to cushion the impact. The sphere is made up of two layers of fabric, including an inner layer of thin elastic material, and an outer layer of parachute-type cloth. A battery connects to an electric ignition which triggers nitrocellulose canister, inflating the suit in the event of an impact.

Yes, the resulting expanded suit looks completely ridiculous. I’m reminded of that part of Willy Wonka where Violet Beuregarde turns into a blueberry, except this time you’ll be turning into a navel orange. Still, I’d rather look stupid than end up dead. From the looks of things, you might still need some Oompa Loompas to come rescue you after an accident, too.

I can only imagine it’s a flaming death trap waiting to kill anyone that sits on it. I can also imagine it will cook your legs all the way through before it blows up and kills you. The special bike was created by Robert Maddox with the goal of hitting 200mph.

I can’t imagine going on a motorcycle at 200mph, much less on a bike with a pair of jet engines under your butt. Still, death on wheels never looked so cool. This is one serious cool bit of kit and it just sold to one lucky buyer on eBay for a whopping $25,000 (USD).

And then here comes Joey Ruiter, a designer who decided to render his vision of a stripped-down electric motorcycle by taking away all the macho-looking frills and design elements to come up with Moto Undone.

Ruiter explains: “[We wanted to] re-set the definition of a motorbike by stripping away historical attributes that make them so great. Moto Undone is pure generic transportation and by motorbike category definition, it isn’t very cool. The motorbike references are small and when someone is riding, they are all you see.”

While the Moto Undone is definitely stripped-down in terms of design, its other specs aren’t really very shabby. The motorcycle is actually powered by a 1000w 48v electric hub motor and has a range of 90 miles. Other riding information and gauges are can be accessed through a smartphone–which is something you can’t do while you’re riding on it because, you know, it’s not very safe to fish the device out of your pocket and steer yourself on the road at the same time.

The Moto Undone was put on display recently at the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

The new all-electric TRON lightcycle is driven by a 96-volt electric motor, powered by a bunch of lithium-ion battery cells. The bike is able to hit a top speed over 100mph, and can go for about 100 miles per charge (and a charge only takes 15 to 35 minutes). Of course, it also features authentic TRON illumination with the flick of a switch. Parker Brothers says they are intent on making the bike street-legal, but it’s not designed for heavy duty use – so don’t expect to get in a light bike race with evil CLU and expect to beat him if he’s still on a petroleum-powered bike. The HAF X Mini Bike casemod is actually both a fully-functional gaming PC and a gas-powered mini bike, capable of carrying its builder along for a ride.

Built by René Grau from CM Storm, the system is based on an CoolerMaster HAF X chassis, with an Intel Core i5 CPU, and a 4GB GeForce GTX460 graphics card, running on a Mini-ITX mobo. Storage is provided by a 300GB SSD, so the guy who built it doesn’t have to worry about bumps in the road damaging a hard drive. It also sports dual exhaust and a two-stroke engine, with a top speed of about 40MPH – unusual stats for a PC.

The bike reminds me of one of the old Harley-Davidson motorcycles from the 50′s. The bike also has more than a little of the flavor of the old British bikes in it too. It looks like that seat might be hard on the butt though.

The bike has a 72V electric motor, and has battery packs under the wide bodywork that can zip the bike along at up to 75mph. The Orphiro motorcycle has a cruising distance of 60 miles on a charge. The bike is set to launch in September and the pricing is unknown, but I bet the Orphiro isn’t cheap.

In the anime series Robotech, the motorcycle transforms into a sort of robot battle suit called a battleoid. While this bike won’t do that, it still looks the part.

Makes you wonder how they will share the riding perks of this bike, or will they just display it for shows? Either way, it’s one mean-looking bike that looks just robotic enough to look like it’s from the future.

I’m still amazed that it took these guys three years. For some reason, I’d imagine a custom shop knocking out a good-looking replica in a few weeks or so. Still, it looks amazing.

In addition to Iron Man, Tigerpause has created helmets from Star Wars, Halo, and Transformers. While some of them look a little flimsy (especially the Transformers helmets), the Iron Man helmets look pretty awesome. The Master Chief helmet is also pretty cool. Tiger typically uses parts from costumes and kids toys to decorate an underlying motorcycle helmet structure.

I can just imagine modders who’ve customized their motorcycles riding around on their bikes with these helmets on. Too bad these helmets would have to stay on a pedestal or your garage if you don’t want to get pulled over by the cops.

I wear a motorcycle helmet everyday, but I don’t think I’d get one of these, even if they were legal. I prefer a stealthy style that’s not too loud and garish.

The Ferrari helmet is designed for motorcyclists and it comes in black or silver colors. The silver is pictured here with beige leather and it looks really cool. The front section with the shield is a little dorky though. Still, the helmet is $356.31 and it’s honestly not clear if that is USD or in other currency. The helmet is noted to not be homologated for the U.S., Canada, or Mexico.

I would assume that to mean it doesn’t meet U.S. safety specs. That is odd considering Ferrari is a brand that puts thought into safety and the U.S.is one of its largest markets. The outside is some sort of thermoplastic polymer and the inside is a DuPont fabric that is antistatic and anti-allergic. The helmet meets ECE 22.05 standards.

This menacing mask was made by Etsy seller EpicLeather, and is hand-crafted from Veg Tan leather, with rivet accents. It’s lined with foam and suede for comfort. The mask’s creator says that he’s worn one on his bike at up to 85MPH, and it provides great wind resistance (although he’s quick to point out that it’s not a safety device).

While the mask pictured here is in a natural color, the stormtrooper mask can be ordered in a variety of colors, including white – which is the only color that I think makes sense. You can get your hands on one over at Etsy for $199.99 (USD).

Honestly, if I saw a dude getting off his bike wearing one of these in the brown leather, I’d think the apocalypse was upon us. On the other hand, if I saw him wearing one in white, with a matching helmet, I’d probably go up to him and start quoting lines from Return of the Jedi.

I really like to see what cool stuff looks like underneath all the pretty panels and decorations. Mission Motors has offered up some pics of what the bike looks like all nakey, and the thing is as hot under the skin as it is with its clothes on.

It’s hard to believe that this bike can go so fast with such a small looking electric motor. That little motor puts out the equivalent of 141hp and uses a 14kWhe battery pack. Feast your eyes on the gallery for all the bike porn you want.

It’s really cool, but the pics really don’t give you an idea of the entire scope of how to do this. If you are a Grade-A maker of weird things, maybe you can pull it off too. I don’t smoke, but I might buy a lighter just to try this. If the thing would spark as you roll it, I would have a nerdgasm.

My favorite item is the record player made from the brake parts. The platter for the record is a disc brake rotor, and you can see what appears to be the caliper cover on the side of the record player. The bowl made from the spokes and center hub of the wheel is really cool too.

Wine drinkers with a penchant for Triumph will like the corkscrew that is made from the grip and handle bar of the bike. This one is cool in that you pull the brake lever on the handle to make the corkscrew spin. There are a few other cool items like cutlery made from brake and clutch levers, and a floor standing mirror made from motorcycle mirrors. See more of the collection over at Designboom.
