Guy Flies Through Chinese Mountain with Wingsuit, Lives to Tell the Tale

Look, up in the sky. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s some guy in a wingsuit flying through a mountain. Stuntman Jeb Corliss has been using his Wingsuit since 2007, but this is one of his craziest stunts. Armed with his Wingsuit, a parachute, and a GoPro hero video camera, he flies through a hole in a Chinese mountain.

Basically, this guy is the closest thing we have to a Superman as he soars through the air. After jumping from a helicopter at 6,000 feet, Corliss casually flies through a narrow hole in Tianmen mountain, in Hunan Province, China.

The whole thing is accomplished perfectly and he lands safely with a parachute. This guy can really fly. Now, if he could just get up there without a helicopter, he could start fighting crime for us.

Summit of Mount Everest Gets 3g Internet Connectivity, but I Can’T

Apparently, climbers of the world’s tallest mountain can now get 3G web connectivity on top of Mount Everest. The peak is 17,000 feet above the surface of the earth and it’s so high up that most folks need extra oxygen to be able to function. This really pisses me off.

The connectivity is courtesy of a base station that Swedish provider TeliaSonera set up near the village of Gorakshep in the Everest region. The thing that pisses me off about this is that a person in one of the most inhospitable environments on the planet can get 3G.

YET, AT&T can’t get its shit together well enough to give me reliable 3G coverage five miles outside of the largest city in this area of Texas. The new 3G connection for Everest means that climbers will be able to call for help if they get in trouble rather than relying on satellite phones, plus they can Tweet about their frostbite.

Mountain Maniac: It’S Hammer Time!

Here’s a fun little game if you’re looking for a fun way to kill a little time today. Mountain Maniac is a wonderfully retro-styled Flash game that involves a little pixelated guy and a hammer (and no, it’s not Donkey Kong).

The game puts you in the role of both the hammer-wielding Maniac, along with the boulder he knocks from the earth when he bashes the mallet into the ground. The objective of the game is simple. Steer the unleashed boulder to wreak as much havoc as you possibly can as it careens down the mountainside to the town below.

Your boulder bounces off of trees, cars, and woodland creatures as it makes its way to the little town below. Think of it like Pachinko meets Burnout’s addictive crash mode meets any game you ever played on your Atari 800. There’s even a bonus level that involves smashing forest rangers and armed guards with your hammer. How can you resist?

Winter’s Coming, Vacation at Your Desk

I’ve always thought it would be fun to cover a wall in my office with a mural of a tropical sunset, since the likelihood of an actual beach vacation seems less and less likely with my busy work schedule these days. Now, I’ve discovered that I don’t have to be relegated to just one imaginary destination, thanks to this fun device.

Hang this remote-controlled picture on your wall, and you can swap between eight different scenic vistas from the comfort of your Aeron chair. Working sort of like those motorized image-flipping ad displays you see in shopping centers these days, the panorama can change between a variety of tranquil locales with a simple press of the remote. It even can play sounds of nature or new-agey music to help set your mind adrift. The box measures in at about 39″(w) x 3″(d) x 19″(h) and hangs easily on your wall.
