Ms. Pac-Man Cake has Better Graphics Than the Original Game

I just spotted this Ms. Pac-Man cake over on flickr contributor melonqueen‘s photostream, and just had to feature it.

While I’m not sure that the Atari 2600 ever had graphics this good, I still like the idea of the edible 2600 joystick on the side.

Not only does the cake perfectly capture the spirit of the original arcade game, it’s got at least a little bit of tasty buttercream icing and white chocolate power pellets to offset the smooth, but bland fondant that many highly decorated cakes end up being made from.

Ms. Pac-Man: the Best Arcade Game Ever?

According to at least one set of criteria, Ms. Pac-Man, the girlied up version of everyone’s favorite power-pellet chomper, must be the best arcade game of all time… or at least, the easiest to track down. Ms. Pac-Man is apparently the most collected arcade game.

Rounding out the list, we have some expected titles: Donkey Kong, Pac-Man (the manly version!), and Galaga, and some you may not have expected, like Tempest. At least, I didn’t expect it.

Power Up With Ms. Pac-Man Cupcakes

The simple shapes of Pac-Man and co. make them popular amongst decorative bakers, but sometimes, it’s not about simplicity, but instead about sheer dedication to a theme. These Ms. Pac-Man cupcakes are not only brilliant in and of themselves, but the backdrop really takes the (cup)cake.

These seemingly delicious Ms. Pac-Man cupcakes were made by the folks at Trophy Cupcakes in Seattle for a party, and unless something truly epic happened at that particular shindig, I expect they were one of the most memorable parts!

Gotta love that they constructed the whole thing, even down to extra lives waiting in the wings.

Ms. Pac-Man Gets Portable

Not to be outdone by her dot-gobbling boyfriend, Ms. Pac-Man has made her way into a custom-built handheld.

Influenced heavily by Sam Thornley’s Pac-Man Mini, modder ela built this portable Ms. Pac-Man Mini video game system using the guts of one of those Jakks Ms. Pac-Man TV Games, and put its circuitry inside the power brick of an old printer.

A couple of cuts for a 2.5″ Intec LCD display, some old SNES controller buttons, pieces of an old VCR and a whiff or two of hot glue, and the mini console was complete. The whole thing runs on a set of AA batteries, so it requires no external power.

The best part, of course – no quarters required.
