The Tweet Mug features a hashtag as its handle, and while it doesn’t make holding the mug any easier, it does make the mug more of a looker.

You can pop the Tweet Mug into the microwave although it’s not dishwasher safe. The people behind the mug are Thumbs Up, although the price and availability have yet to be announced.

The Pipe Mug is made of high-quality ceramic. It measures 4.25″ tall and 4″ wide and has a capacity of 14 oz. Although it’s microwave-friendly, Fangamer says that “nuking it could hurt its lifespan”, and that you should wash it by hand to make the color last longer.

You can buy the Pipe Mug from Fangamer for $35 (USD). It comes with a random one of four custom-molded Block Coasters, which you can buy as a set for $12 too. Someone should mod it so that it makes the pipe sound effect when something is put inside.

This mug stirs itself, so that you can enjoy your hot drinks, even when you’re super lazy. All you need to do is press a button on this mug and voilà! It works for cream, sugar, and hot chocolate. It comes with a handy spill-proof lid. It needs 2 AAA batteries to function.

One thing I’ve always thought strange was how the little paper bit just dangled off of the side of the mug. It’s practically begging to slip into your piping hot water, thus forcing you to fish it out and make a small mess. There are plenty of creative solutions, I’m sure, but here’s one that I’ve not seen.

This $25 Tie Tea Cup by designer George Lee has two special notches in the lip. You can use these to wrap the string around, securing the teabag in its place. Seems like a simple enough concept. I have to say though, the price does seem a little off-putting. I mean, if you’re someone that drinks tea often enough to warrant this purchase, you’ll probably want to buy a set of four, but I can’t imagine paying a hundred bucks simply so your teabag stays where it should.

The TARDIS mug is guaranteed to keep your coffee hot, while it can also transport it nearly instantaneously to any location in time or space. Heck, you can even send your coffee across the office to your boss and spill it in his lap if you so desire.

Each TARDIS mug even comes with an authentic police call box lid to keep your java hot while it whizzes across the universe. I wonder if the mug actually holds much more coffee than it looks like it can hold from the outside. That would be cool  – if not physically impossible.

While a tweeting mug could be kind of cool, it would be pretty useless unless you’d be able to input some swanky 140-character tweets. Maybe something like “This coffee is too hot. She gets really grumpy if her coffee gets cold and she chugs a mouthful of the tepid brew. She needs this mug from the Art Lebedev Studio. You probably recognize the name from the much cooler products the design firm usually offers like the Optimus Maximus OLED keyboard.

This coffee cup has a battery outline on it that has a green temperature indicator. The temp gauge shows when a liquid inside is more than 96.8F. The fuller the cup, the higher the gauge goes. This might be a good thing, especially in my household. I could look at the cup from a distance and if the gauge were not showing, I would know not to talk to my wife for a while.

It’s a great idea, though it defeats the purpose if you’re shipping one of these mugs. If you’re just picking one up in a store, I guess it makes more sense.

For the time being, CubeWorks’ ceramic R2 mug is only available in Japan, but I’m hopeful somebody will decide to import some so I can finally satisfy my Starbucks and Star Wars addictions in a single maneuver.

I found these over on Japan’s Tanomi hobby site for ¥1800 (appx. $20 bucks) each, but by they time to pay to ship something this fragile from Japan, I’m betting you’ll be paying more for shipping than the mug itself cost.

The gang over at Charles & Marie listened to your feedback, and have worked with Dutch designer Damien O’Sullivan to produce a new version of the minimal black-and-white mug that says “cold” when it’s cold, and “hot” when it’s hot. It’s amazing how one small text change can really make such a difference. Heck, just the utility of knowing when that coffee that’s been sitting in there all day long is cold as ice should be enough to merit the $25 price tag.

Charles & Marie is now offering the Hot/Cold mug on a pre-order basis now, so if you want one, you’d better head on over and place your order. They should start shipping in about three weeks.

In its dormant state, the mug offers a black “OFF” display, but once your hot coffee or tea hits the inside, it gradually transforms to read “ON”. A heat sensitive pigment changes the color of the mug from black to white.

While it may be designed for coffee, the $25 mug is Charles & Marie’s “Soupe du Jour” offer of the day. So if you want one in time for the holidays, you better grab yours now.

The WMF1 Coffee Pad takes a single portioned coffee filter and can brew up a fresh cup of Java in about 1 minute. The compact coffee maker features a clean white design, with a choice of four accent colors: kiwi (green), mango (yellow), berry (red) and stone (dark grey). And yes, it includes the perfectly-fitted ceramic mug. The brilliantly minimal design even won a 2007 red dot award for its creators.

The MusicMug from I.D.E.A. is a ceramic enclosure with a special (un-amplified) speaker that’s optimized for playback directly from the output of your iPod. Apparently, the china construction is key to the speaker’s sound reproduction. It’s available in the U.S. from the MoMastore for about 40 bucks. And no, you can’t put your coffee in it.

Simply fill the cup with coffee, then plug it into your USB port (or is it the other way around?) and you can sip your Maxwell House between mouse clicks.
