In all, the set comes with 56 individual pieces, including 50 aliens, 4 defense bunkers, 1 UFO, and a laser cannon for wiping out the aliens. Lauren of LostMitten handstitched each one of these pixelated pieces, then attached a felt backing and a strong magnet to keep them up on your fridge.

For some stupid reason, the front of my stainless steel refrigerator won’t hold magnets, but I’d be willing to go back to a plain old white fridge if I could cover it with these.

You can find the complete set over on Etsy for $55 (USD). While that might sound pricey for fridge magnets, that’s less than $1 a magnet. Think about how much time it would take you to needlepoint and cut out 56 tiny magnets, and then get back to me. And if you really can’t handle that kind of spend, you can find smaller sets over on LostMitten’s shop for as little as $12 bucks.

Technabob fave artist lostmitten has recently broken into the art of needlepoint, hand-stitching pixel-perfect scenes from classic video games like this one from everyone’s favorite dot-gobbler, Pac-Man.

As an added bonus, you can actually lay your grubby little mitts on this for your own room. Of course, that is if you run willy-nilly over to Lostmitten’s Etsy shop and plunk down your $20 bucks before it’s gone.

Philly textile artist NovellaMarie’s Pitfall laptop case is covered with an intricate needlepoint scene of Activision’s classic platformer.

Oddly enough, the featured scene comes from the Apple IIC version of the game, not the Atari 2600, but I won’t tell if you won’t.

Handmade by New York crafter (and according to her profile – future librarian, lazy artist, and aspiring pro bowler) badclipart, this Pac-Man ghost glasses case is the perfect way to keep tabs on your spectacles. Thanks to a bit of clever needlepoint work, Blinky looks just like he did when he first made his way into that fateful maze back in 1980.

Now I just absolutely had to get my grubby little mitts on this for myself, so it’s already too late if you want the original one featured above. Definitely swing by badclipart’s Etsy shop and hopefully she’ll whip up another one just for you.

It took Lauren about 30 hours to complete this 9″ x 11″ scene from SMB, handstitching the entire piece from scratch. The dotted look of needlepoint really captures the look of the pixel structure of video games, resulting in one of the finest looking works of video game craft I’ve ever laid my eyes on.
