Hasbro filed the superfluous lawsuit last week, saying that the tablet’s name is too similar to its Transformers brand. It wants damages and a temporary injunction on the device, while sane and level-headed people just want Hasbro to shut up and churn out toys for the holidays.

Forget the fact that Transformers toys these days are pretty low quality and unimaginative too. I guess they would rather spend their time suing over something silly than offering a quality product, or insisting on a decent movie from their licensees. Merry Christmas from the folks at Hasbro.

I’m not really a big Transformers fan, but I think this is just stupid. What do you guys think? Is Asus really in the wrong here?

David didn’t actually modify much in this particular action figure, which I have dubbed Optimus Train. Believe it or not, this is actually based on a knockoff toy that already transforms into a train. David told me that he added a ball joint neck, steam hoses and four LEDs to Optimus Train. Now look at the stock figure and at David’s work and you’ll see that the painting and details have made the toy a hundred times better.

But David doesn’t just paint existing toys, he also makes custom action figures. Perhaps his best work so far is the Rolling Thunder Optimus Prime, a 27-inch behemoth based on a Rolling Thunder G.I. Joe toy.

Standing 32-feet tall, and residing just North of the Bird’s Nest at Beijing’s Olympic Park, the giant Transformer might not be as tall as giant Gundam, but you have to hand it to the Chinese for their ingenuity. You see, Optimus Prime was entirely recycled. He was built from 10,108 junk parts.

Balloon sculptor HappyCabbie first made a Megatron sculpture a couple of years back, but it looks like decided his Transformer balloon robot army wouldn’t be complete without good old Optimus Prime.

Why do they always have to redesign the look of the Transformers? Can’t we just stick with the classic one? And maybe the Armada version?

Also wtf was Optimus’ vehicle mode supposed to be? He looked smaller than Bumblebee. If that trailer is any indication of the game’s quality then it seems to be transforming into something not worth buying.

Transformers: War for Cybertron will be released for the PC, Xbox 360 and the PS3 on June 22 this year. I’m really hoping this turns out okay.

The toy isn’t too expensive at $45 (USD), but it’s..well it looks like a toy, not a badass truck robot with ninja moves and a deep deep voice. Fortunately, you don’t have to settle for the vanilla Prime. Professional customizer Crefigz (short for creative figz) modified the hell out of the Hasbro version to make it look more like the movie version of Optimus Prime and posted it at Figure.fm. Unfortunately I had to convert the pics to a lower resolution to fit here, but even still you’d have to be blind to not be able to see the detail and the bling on Crefigz’ work. To emphasize how much work he did – and the quality of his customization – let’s look at the vanilla Prime:

No match. Crefigz’ Prime can beat vanilla Prime just by showing up on the battlefield. As you can see the toy was completely repainted and chromed-out, so that the finished product actually looks like a miniature Optimus Prime, made of metal and red flames and awesome. Let’s compare the vehicle modes:

Again, it’s not so bad. It’s a toy truck. Here’s Crefigz Prime in vehicle mode:

Are your minds re-blown? I still can’t believe the transformation. Heheh. Transformation. Good one.

Aside from the chrome and the awesome paint job – by the way the flames are not decals, they’re painted on as well – Crefigz also did the following: “Added ball joint in neck in order to get more articulation,  modded hand from TFTM 07 Leader Class Optimus Prime, modded blaster from TFTM 07 Leader Class Optimus Prime and added custom side mirror to get a more accurate detail level.”

Here are a couple of close-ups on Crefigz Prime’s weapons and chest, just to show you the amount of work that went in to this mod.

I really love how the toy looks like it’s made of metal. Crefigz is selling this mod on eBay; bid starts at $710. Yeah it’s a ridiculous price for a toy, but it’s a ridiculously well-done mod as well. In fact, there are already 16 bidders for Crefigz Prime as of this writing. Yep,Hasbro is now making Optimus Prime and Bumblebee Mr. Potato Heads.

I’m not sure what they transform into, but they’re definitely not trucks or cars. Unless you can figure out a way to drive a spud down the road. Now I’d pay good money to see that. Certainly more than I’d pay to see any Michael Bay movie. Ever.

Bumblespud and Optimash Prime are available from Entertainment Earth for $14.99 and $9.99, respectively. I don’t recommend deep-frying these ‘taters. Now microwaving them on the other hand…

The latest in TakaraTomy’s Robo-Q series, these palm-sized Optimus Prime and Bumblebee robots are just too cute to be capable of any real destruction. Now the picture above doesn’t really give you a good idea just how tiny these Transformers are. But this one should…

Each miniature walking robot comes complete with an IR remote control (with built-in robot recharger), and they can be set to operate on different channels so you and a friend can play at the same time. The tiny Robo-Q robots can automatically detect obstacles and navigate through tight corridors using infrared sensors. And while I’ve never seen Bumblebee and Optimus Prime playing soccer, each Robo-Q includes a little ball you can kick around in case you always wanted to play a round of robo-ball.

This is coming to you from the same lovely lass who takes time out to knit Transformers-themed washcloths for her children. In this case her aunt was roped in to spending what I would guesstimate is the better part of a weekend making this elaborate silvery Autobot logo cake.

All I can say is, this family has got time, talent, and patience to spare. I bet all the other parents in the neighborhood see this stuff and think, “Oh great, now little Timmy is going to think I ruined his birthday by stacking HoHos into a cake shape and sticking candles in it.”

I predict that this kid is going to turn out to be either a) a totally spoiled brat, b) the most awesome and powerful reincarnation of Optimus Prime, or c) a weirdo with a basement full of mint-condition Transformers. Oh wait. I have a basement full of mint-condition Transformers. Huh. How ’bout that.

The dock features an 18-wheeler that provides a place for your iPod and speakers on its bed. At the front of the truck is a cab that happens to transform into everyone’s favorite transforming Autobot, Optimus Prime. The truck bed and speakers even can be concealed when there’s no iPod in the dock.
