A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was attacked in Orlando early Thursday by the Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader. Or at least a man wearing a Darth Vader mask. Had it been the real Vader, it would have ended with the officer being force choked. Instead it ended badly for the faux Sith Lord.

The police received reports of an intoxicated man wearing a Darth Vader mask and walking in the middle of a road near Summerlin Avenue and Anderson Street. The trooper arrived on the scene and asked him to get out of the road several times. At this point I can only assume that Lord Vader told him that he found his lack of faith disturbing, before cursing at the trooper and laying in the roadway. Presumably in an attempt to summon up his force powers.

The trooper then told him to get up, but instead he punched and kicked the trooper, who deployed his Taser. Supposedly the suspects thick jacket prevented the Taser from working, (Our was it the fact that he is more machine than man?), so the trooper used pepper spray to subdue him.

The Light Side always wins.

I haven’t played with Play-Doh in years, but that didn’t stop Chevy from promoting their new Orlando MPV on the streets of London this week by making a 1:1 scale model out of the popular modeling clay.

It took 1.5 tons of Play-Doh to make this thing, and it’s pretty impressive. They chose Play-Doh after polling adults on which they preferred: Play-Doh or LEGOs. I would have said LEGO bricks, but that’s just me. It turns out that Play-Doh beat LEGO bricks by 17% in the poll that they ran.

I especially like the nice bright blue color of Play-Doh they used. You certainly won’t miss it. It is a nice piece of viral marketing, though I don’t know if it would make me any more likely to buy the vehicle. Also, I wonder how long it will last in the rain.

If you’ve ever visited the LEGO Store in downtown Chicago, you might have come across a life-size R2-D2 made from thousands of snap-together plastic blocks. While I thought that was impressive, this mammoth LEGO droid measures in at a whopping 8-feet tall.

If you’ve ever visited the LEGO Store in downtown Chicago, you might have come across a life-size R2-D2 made from thousands of snap-together plastic blocks. While I thought that was impressive, this mammoth LEGO droid measures in at a whopping 8-feet tall.

Built by official LEGO Master Model Builder Dan Steinenger with the assistance of a bunch of visiting kids, the giant R2 unit was assembled as part of the recent Festival of the Masters event at the LEGO Store at Downtown Disney in Orlando, Florida.

The giant R2 even had functioning red and blue LED details, and was backed up by sampled sound effects from the popular motion picture series.

Looks like R2-D2 can finally see eye-to-eye with Chewbacca and tell him who’s really boss.
