This build comes courtesy of Chris McVeigh, who’s got it all figured out thanks to some files that he posted on his blog. You’ll need Lego Digital Designer to read his files and to generate the LEGO map for building one for yourself.

It’s safe to say that finding enough gray-colored bricks will be a challenge. Unless you purchase the specific bricks for this build and you use the bricks you have lying around, you’ll likely end up with a colorful Death Star, and what fun would that be?

These things are much cooler than shiny glass or plastic balls. You can grab the plans for making ornaments in four different colors here. You do need LEGO Digital Designer 4.0 software to open the plans up.

You will also need a large assortment of Lego bricks in various colors. I can’t tell from the pictures how many  bricks each ornament takes, but I would bet you need a lot of them to decorate an entire tree.

Just like the controllers – which by the way are still available – the ornaments are made from acrylic and come in a variety of colors: red, black, white and yellow.

The video game console ornaments are available at Etsy shop Use Your Digits and come in two bundles – packs of five cost $20 (USD), while packs of ten cost $35. Unfortunately for console fanboys, you can’t order five or ten of just one console.

Designed as a good luck charm for your garden, these hand-painted, foot-tall mini Jawa lawn ornaments sell for $35 (USD) each and are the perfect guardian for your front yard.

Of course, they might start scavenging for electronic parts and droids around your house if you don’t keep an careful eye on them.

While the little guys amber eyes look like they’re illuminated in the photo above, I think it’s just a reflection. But I plan on modding mine with solar-powered LED eyeballs to achieve a similar effect. Garden Jawas are available for pre-order now, and start shipping in January 2010, so you’ll have yours in plenty of time for spring flowers. Or is it already springtime on Tatooine?  I always figured those twin suns wreaked havoc on the growing calendar.

I’d have to say that these ornaments represent the least intimidating (and most adorable) bits of math I’ve ever seen, and considering that I’m a hardcore lit geek (ugh, math hard), that’s saying a lot. It could be those little eyes, though, and those teeny-tiny smiles.

In fact, I may even prefer these ornaments to actual pie, which is maybe saying even more. But I’m also pretty sure that cute things boast zero calories. And if that’s not true? Please let me live in my state of blissful ignorance.

Each shiny plastic ornament is modeled after a hand grenade, and is guaranteed to not actually blow up your tree – unless you decide to fill yours with black powder.  The ornament hanger that looks like a grenade’s safety pin is a nice touch.

TheLemonadeStandShop may have a whimsical name, but Master Chief is serious business. The hero of Halo isn’t all that’s on offer, however; the Etsy marketplace also has glass balls decorated with a Gears of War motif.

There are several other ornaments for sale as well, with characters such as Hello Kitty, for those who prefer cuteness to carnage on the Christmas tree. You can even request a little personalization on the ornaments, though for $5.00, it seems doubtful that would extend to custom armor colors on the Halo 3 ornament.

I’m actually thinking about covering my Christmas tree with a crapload of these guys in lieu of my regular ornaments this year.
