R2-D2 Ballerina Costume: Artoo Tutu

I have to say that this little R2-D2 ballerina outfit looks pretty cute, and it’s easy to recognize the original droid. It was designed by Leeloo who works as a designer for J!NX. It looks like an awesome Halloween costume or something you could wear to cosplay adventures. She calls it the Artoo Tutu.

The Artoo Tutu is definitely distinctive. The costume was handmade last year and she’s been prancing around in it ever since. I have to say that I quite like it – though I’d never be caught dead wearing it.

Anyway, if you managed to get the R2-D2 swimsuit, then you’ll probably go bonkers for the Artoo Tutu.

Clothing for Gadgets: Play Dress-Up with Your iPad

When I’m done using my laptop, I stow it away in a sleeve printed with zebra stripes all over. The sleeve looks pretty beat up from months and months of use, but I just haven’t found the time to look for another one that would appeal to my taste. But I don’t think I can say no to these handsome outfits, cut and re-sewn especially and specifically for laptops and iPads.

These are the brainchild of Richard, who owns Finders and Keeper’s. He basically puts together an outfit (presumably from his old clothes), custom tailors them to fit your notebook or iPad, then lines it with soft organic cotton to make sure your gadget stays safe and snug inside.

Pretty fun, right? I never thought I’d see the day when we’d actually get to dress up iPads and laptops as we would dress up our nephews or sons. (Not that I have any children yet.)

This line of computerwear (as Richard calls them) is available from his Etsy shop, where they range in price from $55 to $75(USD).

If you have children in your life (or are just a Halloween junkie!), you’ve probably begun to notice that retailers are already loading up on the candy and gear, and that means the question of those pesky costumes is looming over your head. One geek mom, however, got a jump on the holiday with a simple-yet-cool take on a classic: the Starfleet uniform… for babies.

Maker Rinnial’s daughter will match her father this Halloween, as he’ll be similarly clad. This mini uniform is from the Star Trek: The Next Generation era, when apparently it was totally cool for toddlers to run things in space. One of those little skirts from the original would have been cute, too, though.

Zelda fans have been with Link through the ages, so why limit cosplay to individuals old enough to choose for themselves? Presenting the Link costume for babies:

Not that I can say much–my son was a moogle for his first Halloween. And all japes aside, this outfit is beautifully well made. Kind of makes me wish I could knit, but unless I’m holding a game controller, my fingers are pretty stupid.

This little outfit was made by craftster UpKnitCreek (heh) for a friend’s baby shower. That’s the kind of friend you keep forever, and the sort of outfit you store away forever, too. Oh, how convenient. The gift also included a baby blanket… and a box to keep it all in.

Geek Corsets: Imagining Darth Vader as a Sexy (Female) Beast

Straight from the what files come these geektastic corsets designed to evoke Star Wars and Star Trek character, and I can’t decide if they’d make great Halloween costumes, or if they look like something from an adult film parody of the classics.

One thing is indisputable: the workmanship that went into these costumes and corsets, by EveningArwen, is amazing. The corsets look good and they make great outfits. But $200 a pop is a hefty price to pay.

But I guess for those folks who grew up weaned on the various versions of Star Trek, these togs might be fantasy come to life. Not very practical for beaming down to unknown planets, though.
