The appeal of poop is in the eye of the beholder – after considering, of course, where it came from. For example, you wouldn’t willingly drink something that had something to do with human poop, but you might drink some tea that’s been fertilized with panda poop, right? Or not.

If you’re open to the idea, though, then you might be interested in this bit of news. There’s this Chinese entrepreneur named Yanshi An, who will be selling tea fertilized with panda poop very, very soon. The notable thing is that he used to be a teacher of calligraphy at Sichuan University.

He recently bought over eleven tons of excrement from a panda-breeding center to use on his tea, which he hopes to harvest this coming spring. And he’s extremely excited about his Panda poop tea project, too. That’s probably because of the price. A kilo (about 2.2 pounds) of the tea is projected to be priced at more than US$77,000, but that’s only for the first batch. Future batches will be priced lower at around $3,000, since they’re considered to be a more “inferior” batch, as the poop won’t be as fresh anymore (but then, it really is panda poop ever really “fresh?”)

An insists it’s not all about just the money though, as he says that his main mission lies more along the lines of environmental protection by replacing chemical fertilizers with natural ones. He says: “Panda dung is rich in nutrients… and should be much better than chemical fertilizers. People should make a harmonious relationship between Tea heaven, earth and the environment. Everybody has an obligation to protect the environment.”

Like to eat Asian delicacies, but don’t have a good grip on your chopsticks? Embarrassed when you go to the local Chinese or Japanese restaurant and have to ask for a fork? Well have I got a deal for you. Now you can practice your chopstickin’ skillz with the help of a dozen pandas.

No, not full-size pandas. Don’t be silly. They eat only with their bear hands (and an occasional spork). You want tiny little pandas to help you master your chopstickery. That’s exactly what you’ll get with the Panda Darake set – 12 tiny pandas, a pair of chopsticks, and a tiny tire and tabletop to balance them on.

Each set comes with pandas in six completely different poses, so you can really hone your chopstick skills, as you deftly maneuver the mini pandas into different positions, without fear of spilling chicken teriyaki all over the table. Just be sure to stop short of putting the mini pandas in your mouth, unless you want to spend the night in the E.R. Trust me when I say that panda chow mein doesn’t taste very good anyhow.

You can grab the full Panda Darake chopstick practice kit over at Strapya World or on Amazon for about $24 (USD).

I was thinking to myself just the other day that the only way my flash drive could possibly be better was if it looked like the polar bear from Lost. Even better would be if I had to rip the bear in half to plug it into the USB port on my computer. Active Media Products has pulled the wraps off three new flash drives based on endangered species that you can rip in half without having some animal loving hippie throw red paint on you.

The line of flash drives comes in the aforementioned polar bear, panda bear, and penguin styles. Each of the drives is made from silicone rubber and is 2.2-inches tall. The drives also come with a key ring for hooking the storage device to your car keys.

Both Mac and PCs are supported and the drives will work in USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports. No drivers are needed on modern operating systems and you can get the drives in a three pack with one of each animal or individually. You can the drives in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities. A three pack of 2GB drives is under $40. That penguin is kind of creepy; it reminds me of Meet the Spartans.

Yep, that’s about it. ‘Nuff Said. The bulbous panda head speaker is available over at Gadget4All for $27 (USD).

They really do need to work on the name, though. Maybe something like Big Oval-Shaped Panda Head With Look of Constant Surprise Stereo Audio Output Device With USB Charging Cable. Or maybe just PanDasonic.

New from Japan – home of things too cute and strange to ever make it to American soil, comes TakaraTomy’s latest dose of sugary electronic goodness, the Panda Bank.

I’m not sure what these panda bears are doing with all of my Yen coins, but they appear to be quite happy, and they like to do all sorts of fun tricks on the LCD screen when fed money.

It seems to have something to do with pandas eating pie, and that’s way better than watching a bunch of greedy old white guys in suits flush our money down the drain.

As usual, I’ll bet you that you’ll never see the Panda Bank anywhere but in Japan. But if they ever were to sell these in the States, they should be a mandatory part of Obama’s next major economic stimulus plan.

But at least this time it’s for a cause: 5% of the flash drive’s retail price goes to the panda-loving World Wildlife Fund. Active Media Products is also guaranteeing the organization of at least $25,000 of contribution every year. Nice.

The 2.5″ flash drives are made of non-toxic silicone rubber and is free of evil stuff like PVC, lead and mercury.

These wacky mini panda bear shredders aren’t really big enough to destroy that second set of books you’ve been keeping for your business (let alone pandas), but they are perfect for getting rid of tiny pieces of paper you’ve written secret love notes on. As an added convenience, the desktop panda will sharpen your pencil while it shreds.

The little hand-cranked shredders are also great for getting rid of business cards from unsolicited sales visits, that fortune you didn’t like from your Chinese lunch, and the occasional ATM receipt.

You should be able to find these for about $12 bucks over on Stupid.com, but they’re currently sold out, so you might have to settle for a crummy elephant shredder instead.

For some reason, I’m guessing it’s not the world’s most comfortable chair, but it sure beats sitting on a bunch of 8-track tapes.

I’m really not sure why he named his creation the “Panda Chair”, since all I see are CDs and a metal frame — no pandas anywhere in sight. Maybe it’s the same reason that Chinese mall food joint is called Panda Express. Every time I try to order the Kung Pao Panda, they look at me like I have three heads.

These piggy banks from i-Kiddo are not only goofy looking, but they’re actually quite tech savvy.

The i-Panda and i-Piggy digiBanks automatically identify each coin placed in the bank, then calculate the total and display them on the bank’s LCD screen. The banks can also be programmed with savings goals and can play celebratory musical tracks when milestones are met. Each digiBank also functions as an alarm clock and has a special key that prevents kids from pilfering the funds before they should.

Amazingly, even though i-Kiddo is based in Taiwan, they’re supposed to be able to identify U.S. currency including pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.

Wowwee, known best for their Robosapien and Roboraptor educational toy robots has revealed two new models they’ll be showing off at this week’s CES show. The two new models couldn’t be more different, with one being cute and cuddly, and the other ready to eat the cute and cuddly one.

The $229 Robopanda is geared towards children will be able to interact with the world via a variety of touch, infrared and audio sensors. Robopanda’s movements include sitting, walking, crawling, rolling over and hugging. The panda will tell stories, track objects, sound sources and can avoid obstacles. Hopefully, it can avoid the downright ugly looking Roboquad.

Looking like one of the creepy crawlers out of Resistance: Fall of Man or Half Life 2, the $119 Roboquad scurries along on four legs and will be able to navigate in the dark. That way, it can sneak up on your unsuspecting roommate while he’s sleeping (before eating him alive).
