Just like the setup of the show – where Joel (or Mike) sat with the robots and made fun of bad “B” movies, this handmade pendant makes your favorite photo the subject of their humorous jabs.

The MST3K locket is made by Laura of PicaPicaPress, and it’s the perfect place to house a picture of a loved one with a good sense of humor. After all, they’re going to be perpetually belittled within an inch of their lived by this outer-space peanut gallery. I suppose you could wimp out and put some  sci-fi movie still in there. Pretty much any scene from the re-released Star Wars Blu-ray collection should do the trick – especially from Episode I. Robot Monster always works wonders.

But instead of just cheaping out and cutting up some old circuits like we often see over on Etsy, these guys make their jewelry from mirror-polished stainless steel, then hung them each from a 16″ chain. The pendants themselves measure 2″ x 1.5″ and are available in either silver or gold finishes, but not in copper – which would be even more appropriate for a circuit board. Still, they’re quite good looking, IMHO.

If you’re looking for something a little more girly (or want you’re a guy and want to get your girlfriend something sweet and geeky), there’s always the version shaped like a little 1″x1″ heart, too.

I wonder if there’s a schematic available for the parts that could go into these things. I suppose if you really wanted to, you could solder some components in, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you won’t end up with a functional circuit. In tribute to Vern Schillinger’s Cave Johnson’s classic “Don’t make lemonade“ speech from Portal 2, jewelry artist Mark Wengryn created this cool metal pendant. The 2″ wide pendant is handmade from bronze and copper and attached to a 16″ leather cord.

Created by Israeli artist Ran (aka milkool), these pendants offer up chunky, pixely cursors hanging from a black metal ball-chain. They’re made from 2 layers of colored acrylic, stacked together, so they have some nice dimension too. Plus, at just $14 (USD) each, they won’t cost you much.

Currently, they’re available in either an arrow pointer or pointing hand designs, both perfect for getting people to look you in the eyes.

Of course, if you’re the type of person who makes others wait around for them, maybe you could convince Ran to make you an hourglass or a beachball version instead.

While this saucer-shaped device might look like something you’d use to hail your alien mothership with, it’s actually got slightly more humble ambitions. The Escape C pod is a wireless gadget that lets you stream stereo audio from your Bluetooth capable MP3 player or mobile phone so you can listen to music and accept phone calls at the same time. The device supports A2DP and AVRCP profiles, and can connect up to 33 feet away from your media player or phone.

The Kisai Escape C features a cool curvy design, covered with tactile control buttons for media playback and accepting calls. It’s idea for the iPhone 3G, 3GS or iPod Touch, but also can be used with programs like Skype on your PC. Of course, it wouldn’t be a ToykoFlash device without some sort of obtuse time-telling feature. So the Escape C offers up some light-up blue LEDs around the perimeter that show the current time. I’ve got no idea how to figure out the time, but isn’t that part of the fun?

Anywho, TokyoFlash hasn’t officially announced a launch date yet, but word on the street is that the Escape C will be released some time in Q1 2010, and will retail for 9,800 yen, (appx. $110 USD). Stay tuned for more details.

Handmade by Nicholas D’Amario of Sketchy-Stories, these pendants feature some great retro video game designs. Each one is handmade from .925 sterling silver and features a pixelated image of 8-bit Mario, a health heart, or a skull of death. If pixels aren’t your thing, check out this substantial controller pendant, cast from the D-Pad from an old NES controller and accented with black enamel.

Kyouei Design’s Mobile Lights store solar energy during the day, and automatically turn on when its dark. If there’s not enough daylight to keep them charged, that’s okay, since each segment has a set of AA batteries inside to keep them glowing too.

Each set of three LED lights hangs from your ceiling by sturdy nylon fishing line, creating a swoopy kinetic sculpture in any room. You can find Mobile Lights at Kyouei’s online shop for ¥21,100 (appx. $213 USD).

Created for Spain’s DAB Light Works, the bulb-shaped Dear Edi (a nod to Thomas Edison) lamp is actually made from metal, not glass. A small cutout at the bottom of the hanging fixture lets its bright directional light source cast a dramatic beam onto the surface below.

The fixture hangs from your ceiling by a metallic fabric cable, and the “bulb” is available in either a shiny chrome or bold black anodized finish. Depending on your preference, you can choose from an intense halogen light source, or go all modern with a 3-watt LED lamp.

Created by Dutch designer Sander Mulder (formerly of revered design house Buro Vormkrijgers), the Eureka lamp is completely self-contained, and can be easily mailed in an envelope, then hung from the ceiling using string or wire.

Alas, the brilliant Eureka lamp is still just a prototype concept, and has not been produced for the masses. I’m hoping that a little good press might inspire Mulder to put these into production, since they are really, really cool. Heck, I’d definitely grab a few to add a little extra character to my workspace.

Brooklyn artist Donna Jo Bradley offers these audio-inspired lamps on her Etsy shop. The lamps come in two versions: THE STAR features a white body with gold mesh, while THE CLASSIC is all black. Each $150 fixture comes with a 15-foot cord and ceiling-hanging kit.

The handmade wooden mini-cameras have an embedded Motz Music Box at their core, letting them play MP3, WMA and OGG files.

The only real downside to the player is that it only has 256MB of memory, and doesn’t look like it’s expandable. Still, it’s a fun conversation piece.

I’m not sure if tagZ will be the next big trend with the kidZ, but they sure look cooler than the tacky glow stick necklaces that show up at the occasional rave. TagZ are available from RED5 for £10.00 each (just under $20 USD.)
