They might not be Federation approved, but if I were Captain, I’d have these in my chambers regardless of any Pillow Directives. These handmade pillows come in three styles: gold (for command), blue (for science), and red (for engineering). The guys over at Yellow Bug Boutique, who make these, claim that there is also a missing red security pillow which “was vaporized in scene 2.”

Each one measures 14″ x 14″ and is made from fleece and felt. Trekkies can head over to Etsy and beam down a set of three pillows for $100 (USD). Individual pillows will set you back $35 each, plus shipping. I wonder what shipping rates will be like once they perfect transporter technology.

Oh, how I wish I had one of these Dictionary Desk Pillows in my bookshelf. You see, this extremely thick volume doesn’t cram millions of definitions in it, but a huge, cushy and comfortable-looking pillow instead. When it’s snapped shut, you can simply place it on your book case and no one will be any wiser.

There’s only one problem though: unless you speak Chinese, then it might strike some people as odd that you’d have this huge dictionary in your shelf. The Dictionary Desk Pillows are available from the Japan Trend Shop for $80 (USD), making them some expensive pillows, too. I’m sure if you live in Japan, you can get one for quite a bit less.

It’s probably with all of these considerations in mind that Elodie Delassus came up with the Cocoon Pillow concept. It’s a curved pillow that will cradle the baby’s head gently while providing extra protection from dirt and noise, thanks to state-of-the-art noise-canceling technology, a HEPA air filtration system, and an air particle ionizer that’s been incorporated into the pillow.

Now if only Elodie could design one for adults who value silence and clean air, too…

I jumped to Firefox and still use it sometimes when my Chrome browser acts up. But when I saw this Firefox Icon Pillow, I just knew I either had to have it (or hint to someone that I wanted it, since it’s almost Christmas already anyway.)

I might be using another browser right now, but I will forever remember Firefox as the first browser that gave me an enjoyable surfing experience on the web. (So much drama for a browser, I know.)

What we need for those pillow fights is these plush weapons by Bryan Ku to make things more realistic. They’re made out of everyday fabric and stuffing with different weapons like a grenade, ninja star, axe, cutlass, and even a lightsaber silkscreened onto them.

I am really digging the lightsaber and the nunchucks. Though I wonder if that long and thin lightsaber has enough rigidity to be effective in a pillow fight. I’d stick with the nunchucks and go all Bruce Lee on my opponents.

The robotic pillow was developed at the Kabe laboratory at Waseda University in Tokyo. It’s shaped like a bear and is supposed to stop snoring in heavy sleepers. The name translates to Mr. Deep-Sleep. It comes equipped with a microphone to detect snoring. There is also a sensor which monitors your heart rate and blood oxygen levels. Usually, when snoring starts, blood oxygen levels drop and your heart rate goes up. Once snoring is detected, the paws come into action, gently brushing the snorer’s head to stop them from sawing any more logs.

I absolutely love these handmade pillows from Gwendolin Tägert of SoftMachines. They look just like retro synths and drum machines. The series includes classics like the Roland TR-808, the TB-303 Bass Line, and the TR-909 Rhythm Composer.

The Roland machines fairly large (around 23″ wide), detailed with hand-cut felt, dimensional knobs, and cool stitching details. But they’re also quite pricey, selling for about $140 to $160 (USD).

But if you can’t afford that, it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to snuggle up with some synths anyhow. That’s because SoftMachines also makes these screen-printed mini-pillows based on Casio, Moog and Arp mini synths. These sell for appx. $34 (USD) each, which makes them much more affordable. There’s also a set of three available for about $83.

Last, but certainly not least is the Minimachine, based on the classic Mini Moog, and selling for about $49.

These pillows are made by JezebelRose and you can have your own for $150, which is expensive, but they take between 3 to 6 weeks to complete, so you’re getting your money’s worth. These proton packs are made to order, so you’ll probably be the only one that has one on your block. With a few friends, you can probably assemble your own Ghostbusters squad.

The trap doesn’t come with the proton pack, so you’ll have to get that separately here for $40. All in all, these are the best (the only?) Ghostbusters-themed pillows I’ve ever seen.

The ePillow provides a special resting place for your iPad, ensuring that it won’t tip over. It kind of reminds me of those pillows that included a trays to allow people to use their laptops for long periods of time. The main difference is that the iPad is quite lighter. Anyway, maybe it will make your iPad easier to use for your kids.

You can get the lens cushions from a company called Plushtography. They are made from fleece material and felt. I suspect that felt would be as itchy as a pillow made from cat hair. The pillows come in three different versions including the Canon 24-105mm pillow that is the largest one available. The other two are smaller and designed to look like a Nikon 35mm f/1.8 lens and a Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens.

All three of the pillows have the correct markings on them from the real lenses. You can order them up now directly from Plushtography with the big pillow costing $80 (USD) and the smaller ones going for $35. Where is the giant DSLR body pillow to go with these lenses?

If you’re similar to these creatures in the sense that you can only go to sleep when it’s dark out, then you might think that Kawamura Ganjavian is a genius for designing the Ostrich, otherwise known as the “Pocket Pillow for Nap.”

A picture is worth a thousand words, right? You can see clearly from the photos above just what the Pocket Pillow is, how you’re supposed to use it, how you can carry it around, and why Ganjavian decided to call it the “Ostrich.”

It’s a novel idea which might just work, especially for mid-day or lunchtime naps at the office. However, a question I’d like to ask the designer is, “How are people supposed to breathe in that thing?” Suffocation will be a likely issue, I tell you. And since this is still just a concept design, maybe this feedback might encourage Ganjavian to make some adjustments and modifications to his original design.

Their handmade Google “GPillows” series includes icon pillows for Android (previously featured), GMail, the Google “g” and their latest addition, Chrome. I wonder if the Chrome pillow feels as soft as a cloud. It sure looks like it, and that would only be appropriate. Given their soft fleece shell and fluffy poly fill, I bet that’s the case.

You can grab all four Google pillows over at Craftsquatch’s Etsy shop, with prices ranging from $22 to $28 (USD). Apple fanboys, don’t despair, you can always fill your couch with some iPillows instead.

The details on this thing are scant and no pattern is offered. The pillow apparently measures 16-inches long and 9-inches wide. You can see from the pics that it is a very rough recreation of Solo and his form encased in yarnbonite.

It looks like some sort of voodoo device or perhaps a toy for a baby Hutt to me. Still, it’s a geeky bit of Star Wars DIY that I couldn’t pass up.
