LEGO WALL-E is The Cutest Little Garbage Collecting Robot You’ll Ever Lay Eyes on

How can you not love WALL-E? You can’t. Well if you have a soft spot in your heart for the little Pixar junkbot, you just might want to grab this guy for your desk.

This custom-made mini WALL-E is made out of various LEGO parts, and manages to capture his essence perfectly, despite the fact that he’s only made out of a handful of bricks, and stands just three inches tall. He’s even got a tiny little plant to carry around and protect – though I don’t see his cockroach pal anywhere.

LEGO WALL-E was made by Mariann Asanuma, a former LEGO Master Model Designer from LEGOLAND California, who now runs Folded Fancy Creations, offering all sorts of cool LEGO objects over in her Etsy shop.

While it’s decidedly more menacing than WALL-E, I particularly like her LEGO Boba Fett Ornament – too bad I didn’t know about that in time for Christmas. The little bounty hunter would have looked nice on our tree. Well, there’s always next year, I suppose.

Like most geeks I have a fond spot for Star Wars. Anything to do with the movie I tend to like pretty well. I also happen to like LEGO bricks and I really dig Pixar’s Cars flicks too. This one project mashes all those likes up into one spaceship that looks like Lightning McQueen and the Millennium Falcon had a love child.

This LEGO mashup was constructed by a dude named Raphael Heusser and it’s very, very awesome. I wonder if he took the plans from a normal Falcon kit and then just changed the color of the bricks – it looks like had to modify it at least a little bit. The finished product looks like something you might see in the movie to me.

It’s done up in red with eyes, a smiling mouth, and the all-important 95 number on the top and bottom. What do you think? Is this the coolest LEGO mashup ever?

Disney Cars ‘Appmates’ Toys Will Work With Your iPad, Vroom Vroom

Our iPads do everything these days and now kids will have an extra reason to own one for themselves or use yours. Disney is combining their physical toys with the iPad.

Disney Appmates toys will let kids use their favorite Disney character toys with the iPad the way a game piece is used on a board game. But in this case it is more interactive. The first line of these toys available is Disney’s Cars, but you can expect many more to come in the future. The toys are used with Disney’s iPad apps to create the magic. How it works is pretty simple. Each toy has a unique footprint, so the iPad can tell which toy is being used. The app then delivers an interactive experience that goes with that toy.

Right now you can get Tow Mater, Lightning McQueen, Finn McMissile, and Holley Shiftwell in October when they launch. Not enough for you? Well, Francesco Bernoulli and Shu Todoroki are coming in November.

Toy Story Giant Alien USB Webcam Will Take Over Your Desktop

This Toy Story Alien USB Webcam stands at around 15 inches in height, which means that it’s larger than the actual aliens that were featured in Toy Story. It’s big enough that it will stand out on your desk (and honestly it might clash with a few things on your workstation.)

The limited-edition Alien USB Webcam has an antenna that lights up, which glows and pulses. The webcam is mounted in its mouth, not its eyes – despite the fact that it has three of them. The trio of glowing eyes will chirp or squeak for added fun. And not that it really matters, but the webcam has a 1.3MP sensor. If you’re buying one of these, you’re not getting it for the image quality though.

When you disconnect it, the webcam will even make an “ooooh” sound, just like in the movies. There’s also a speaker in the base to allow it to serve as an external speaker, as well as 2 USB ports so you can use it as a mini-hub.

We know that it’s official Disney/Pixar merch from the included Certificate of Authenticity. Since it was limited to only 500 pieces worldwide, it’s pretty hard to come by one. However, there’s a small batch of them up on eBay now, selling for the rather exorbitant price of $299.99 (USD).

Sure, Sarge and his men are a bit set in their ways. But they will hold their ground and stand resolute against any enemy, their spirits unbending, their courage unyielding. Photographers also love them because they’re always in their best poses. Toy Story’s Bucket O’ Soldiers gets the Lego treatment with the ‘Army Men on Patrol’ set.

At least in this version they can move their hands. In the world of Army men, that is a colossal advantage.

Heroes Aren’T Born, They’Re Made . . . From LEGO

If there’s a reason why most things that come from Pixar are so geek-friendly, it’s probably because most of the people at Pixar are geeks. Take Angus MacLane. He was the Lead Animator on WALL-E, which was well received by most geeks for obvious reasons (robots). But MacLane’s real geek cred is proven by his line of “CubeDudes,” an assortment of his favorite characters made from Lego.

There is a gallery on MacLane’s Flickr stream that contains photos of his 64 completed CubeDudes. Included among them are Wolverine, Iron Man, Snake Eyes, Optimus Prime, Hellboy, Wonder Woman, and Doctor Horrible.

Of the 64 CubeDudes MacLane has made so far, 45 of them will be on display at this year’s BrickCon in Seattle, Washington, which starts tomorrow and lasts until Sunday at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall.

Now, if I may be so bold, Angus, might I recommend branching into video games? I would sure love to see Cloud or Sephiroth in Lego form. Or Nathan Drake. Mmm . . . Nathan Drake.

Aww, look! Wall-E, taking care of all your files, in the form of a keychain USB flash drive.

Adorable, right? Don’t get too excited–Sgedra’s Wall-E USB drive was available at Etsy for the short span of time that elapsed between the driving being listed and someone seeing it. At least point, all we can hope for is that a positive response will result in an entire army of little Wall-E keychain drives trundling across the world, our data in tow.

Translation: please make more, Sgedra! 8GB plus Wall-E equals success, and no one can argue with math.

Wall-E Windows Computer Casemod Gets Touchscreen Tummy

After listening to his startup sound, I always figured that Wall-E ran on Mac OS. I guess I was wrong. From the looks of this casemod, the little yellow robot that could runs Windows XP.

Modder Jonathan Berg put together this Wall-E PC mod that comes complete with a 7-inch touchscreen monitor inside his belly.

Wall-E is made from custom cut Plexiglas, arms made from Logitech speakers, and webcam hidden behind his eyes. He’s even been outfitted with voice recognition software which lets his master command him by barking orders - in case his touchscreen and laser keyboard aren’t sufficient.

At least his compactor module isn’t activated, or else that monitor would most certainly be crushed into smithereens.

Wooden Wall-E: How Many Trees Had to Die?

Disney commissioned UK-based sculptors and a group called Morpheus Prototypes to build this wooden sculpture of Wall-E as a gift for Pixar/Disney Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter.

Here’s a closer look:

I don’t know anything about woodworking or sculpting, so I’ll leave it up to you guys to think of how long it could have taken to build this and how much it’s worth.
