Ah, lovely, colorful, and not-quite-deadly. Two out of three ain’t bad, as they say. Id’s softer, gentler grenades are at least life-size, so you know they’re satisfying in the hand, even if they are significantly more squeezable than a real grenade. Also? Less useful against zombies, or not-zombies, as the case may be (those last Resident Evil games have been veering away from the normal undead menace, after all… if you can call any violent, face-pounding menace of any sort normal).

But they look great in Photoshop, and really, that should be enough for anyone.

I admit it would take something pretty horrible to not look cute as a plushie (and sometimes, even that doesn’t work), but this just makes me want to see more of the elusive Queen. deviantARTist Min-of-the-Cosmos must agree, because this is the second Queen plushie to turn up in her gallery.

But the other characters get love, too, like the adorable Prince.

I kind of want to coat them with honey and see if they’ll stick together in a giant (gooey) katamari.

Each Roadkill stuffed animal comes packed in its own see-through body bag, complete with all of its plush and squishy guts pouring out of its body. They even throw in a death certificate and an “I heart Roadkill” bumper sticker in each bag.  The smashed menagerie includes Twitch the Racoon, Grind the Rabbit, and Splodge the Hedgehog (Sonic’s long-lost cousin?). There’s also Pop the Weasel, who’s not stuffed at all – rather a flat rubber door stop. (You can read their obituaries here.)

He’s all fat and puffy and soft, like a sock monkey but about six hundred times (I measured) better. But what’s one iconic Mario character? Lonely, that’s what. Gotta have something to complete the set… like a piranha plant!

Upside down and clearly panicked Toad does not approve, but I sure do. Flickr user and knitter SkyRacer8 has a number of knit plushies on display, from an adorable Totoro to some more random items.

deviantARTist think-purple admits that this plush may not be perfectly crafted, but it’s certainly good at draining all the menace from the leaping Hunters from Left 4 Dead. Even with a spill of blood down his little chin, this guy is pretty adorable.

The upcoming New Orleans-based sequel features some new special infected, which probably means a whole new wave of Left 4 Dead crafts. If they’re as cute as this one, then I’m almost as excited about that as I am for the game!

At first glance, I thought that was professional work. If I’d seen this Yoshi in a store, I wouldn’t have thought twice about picking him up and giving him a squeeze. From pattern to completed plush, however, this is all the work of deviantARTist 614, who also has a plush Toad up for display.

I like the Yoshi better, personally, but they both look great!

Yes, these are plush cookies inspired by Wookiees that have apparently been squashed into cookie form. This is another product of Stitch Wars, which is fast becoming the go-to event for squishy, fuzzy, slightly disturbing handcrafted items. I’m a fan.

P.S. the Wookiee cookies squeak. They have squeakers.

The tauntaun’s belly apparently zips up, to keep poor Luke nice and toasty warm. But does Luke look happy about it? No. But really, would you? We’re talking about bedding down in smelly guts here; you do it if you have to, but it’s not like you YouTube that business with pride or anything.

Poor Luke. You just want to give him a good wash hug.

It took quite a bit of fabric, too, to craft this softie Shockwave–more than half an ounce, apparently. But that excellent shine? That can only be measured in units of wow. Choice of materials really makes this project stand out.

If you’re not careful, these stuffed cuties will run off without you. You’ve gotta treat your Game Boy right! They have something else that isn’t quite as much fun, too: a bigger price tag. But at 30cm tall and $35, these fully-customizable felt plushies aren’t a bad deal for those who would rather buy than sew.

These plush versions of classic characters from the Star Wars universe are just too cool. From the squishy R2-D2 to the scruffy Chewbacca and blobby-headed Boba Fett, you need these in your house.

At about 7-inches tall each, I guess they’re not quite big enough to serve as pillows, but they’re great as an accent on your sofa, bed or just lying around your room.

Even one Yoda gets.

The whole collection is available over on Entertainment Earth for about $13 a piece.

From the wonderfully whimsical folding Nintendo DS Lite (complete with stuffed stylus and a game of New Super Mario Bros. on the dual screens), to her squishy iPhone clone, I can’t decide which one I like the best. (I’m not sure what that plush Sushi roll is doing there, but it looks tasty alongside the iPhone).

Feeling retro? Kmila has also created this beautiful Nintendo Gameboy, playing a game of Tetris on its faux “LCD” screen. (There’s even a little Tetris “cartridge” sticking out of the back when you flip it over).

Sewn from felt and embroidery thread by Flickr contributor craftytails, it’s not clear if it’s a Linksys, Netgear or some other evil router lurking beneath the angry (but soft) exterior, but given its fabric construction, it’s unlikely that it’ll ever connect to the Internet at anything faster than 802.11b speeds.

Then again, my experiences this weekend prove that just because your wireless router is packed with actual electronics doesn’t mean that it’ll actually work.

Available in green apple, yellow banana, orange orange, and red strawberry flavors, these plush fruit speakers don’t just play your tunes, they give you a nice place to take a nap while you listen. Not only do they look delicious, they actually smell like their fruity doppelgangers. I don’t know about you, but I don’t know how well I’d sleep while inhaling artificial bananas.

I’ve had a bit of hard time finding these for sale, but you might have some luck poking around over on eBay. There’s also an importer called Made in China who sells them, but only in wholesale quantities — so unless you plan on stocking an entire fruit stand, that could be overkill.

Textile artist Blythe Church has just revealed a sneak preview of her latest creations which she’s preparing to show at her upcoming show “The Pitch of the Stitch”.

Her latest collection of handsewn electronic gear includes an AM/FM radio, complete with soft batteries, a boom box, and an old rotary phone among others.

If you happen to be anywhere near Halifax, Nova Scotia (current temperature: a balmy 19° F – yow) between April 11th and 27th, you can check them out in person at Argyle Fine Art Gallery.

Created by Wisconsin crafter KungFuCowgirl, each of the squishy game systems has its own unique personality, thanks to the slight variations in each handmade Gameboy.

They measure in at just a wee-bit bigger than an original Gameboy and come in red, yellow, green, pink or teal. They cost just $14 bucks a piece (so why not buy a bunch?) You can find ‘em over on Etsy.

Bonus: this was a patternless, freestyle creation. And since her kitty wouldn’t leave the computer alone, Maitreya made a lolcat out of him!

I think that hand-embroidered, multi-colored Apple logo down in the bottom left corner proves that it was made with love. What a special baby gift!
