Yep. That’s Potato GLaDOS. You know the one who’s a potato? The PotatOS Science Kit comes with everything you need to make your own wisecracking potato, complete with nails, wires, and a blinking GLaDOS core. It even lights up and sasses you with 17 audio clips from the game when you press the button.

The $29.99(USD) PotatOS kit also comes with a science-y backdrop written by the guys at Valve to proudly display behind your potato. Keep in mind that despite it’s looks, they couldn’t figure out a way to generate sufficient power from the potato, so PotatOS is powered by an internal watch battery of its own. So it won’t actually teach you or your kids anything about real science. Only fake video game science. Oh yeah, and you need to provide the potato too, so you could get fancy and use a sweet potato or some other root vegetable if you’re feeling especially creative.

Now back to that Christmas thing. We’re actually just slightly past the holiday ordering deadline at ThinkGeek for standard shipping, so chances are this won’t arrive until after Christmas unless you pay extra for rush shipping. Still, it’s pretty awesome, and any Portal geek would be happy to have one, even if it arrives a few days late. After all, GLaDOS will still be a potato.

Instead of being made from an actual potato, the plush PoTaDOS was made from fleece, felt, and pipe cleaners. Chell’s BFF doesn’t just look cool and sit there like a potato either. She actually talks back:

Sarah used “a soap dispenser for the gun, an empty mini plastic shampoo bottle for the cannon, metal piping for the legs, thick card stock to make the wing-tipped shoes, a contact lens case for the eyes, and old cell phone charger wires for detail”, then she used Sculpey to make Spudnik’s mustache and monocle. That’s right, Spudnik barely has any actual metal parts. His shiny finish is thanks to Sarah’s expert painting skills.
