President’s Day is upon us, and what better way to celebrate the USA’s forefathers than by getting yourself some appropriate retro 8-bit t-shirts, featuring Abe Lincoln and George Washington looking like characters from you favorite Super Mario game!

The t-shirt is part of a limited run over at the Chop Shop Store, and they’ve called it President’s Play, a good play on the words of the upcoming holiday. Which world will you choose to play? The Revolution or Gettysburg? By getting this shirt, you can play both.

You can get yours from the Chop Shop Store for $23. For an extra $3, you can even get it printed on an nicer American Apparel shirt.

It’s definitely a fun and geeky way to celebrate President’s Day. Not that there’s much chance you’ll actually be wearing it by Monday – oh, well.

History was made when President Barack Obama was elected as the President of the United States in 2008. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. And now here we are in 2012, with the U.S. Presidential elections coming up in a few months.

On a totally unrelated note to politics, the President as the Incredible Hulk is the last thing I ever thought I’d see. But here it is, in all it’s hulky massiveness: Barack Obama as the Hulk.

The figure was created by Ron English, a well-known artist creates awesome works of art for a living. Unsurprisingly, his Joe Biden action figure is nowhere to be found.

There’s no doubt in my mind that the Taiwanese love Angry Birds as much as everyone else, but check out this art installation of the red Angry Bird that was made for the Taiwanese presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen.

The installation itself features the head of the red Angry Bird. The bird is made of crimson-tinted piggy banks that have been arranged in a latticework to flesh out the bird. He must sure love playing Angry Birds if that’s the installation that’s featured outside his campaign office.

I wonder what his opponents will think of next. Probably a bunch of green piggies made from cans, or something along those lines.

This may not be the first time we’ve seen a mix of Mario and President Obama, but it’s certainly the most interactive. Parody flash game Super Obama World replaces some classic images from Super Mario World with a grinning image of the president himself, and some of the familiar enemies and objects have been politicized.

Perhaps the funniest changes are to the world map, where familiar locales like Yoshi’s House have now become I Can See Russia From My House. It’s a longer name, sure, but sometimes, you’ve just gotta go for it.

Creators ZenSoft also have a Tetris-style game available on their site. Don’t worry–it’s just blocks falling, with no political themes.

Now that we’re down to just two leading party candidates for the 2008 U.S. presidential election, it looks like a couple of new upstarts have tossed their brightly colored plumbers’ hats into the ring.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m definitely voting for the Mario/Luigi ’08 ticket. I’m not sure what their exact platform is, but I’m guessing it involves using mushrooms to solve the nation’s health care crisis, and collecting lots of gold coins to straighten out the budget deficit. Born in Japan, but raised as Italians, I’m not sure that they’d pass the U.S. citizenship requirements, but isn’t stopping them from running with the catchy campaign slogan “It’s-A-merica!”

Show your support for the Mario Party ticket by heading on over to ThinkGeek and picking up one of these festive campaign t-shirts. Given the millions of games these guys have sold over the years, they probably would have a good chance of winning if they actually did run.
