If you’re into video games at all, chances are you know somebody who had an Xbox 360 crap out on them. Here’s your chance to show you care by sending them this clever condolence card.

Greeting card artist bsangel created this Xbox 360 Red Rings of Death card which lets your grieving gaming pals know your heartfelt wishes in their time of need. The card features the all-too-familiar ring, handcrafted from red crystals. Inside, the card simply reads “May this card help console you during this difficult time. I am very sorry for your loss.”

The card can be found in bsangel’s Etsy shop for $4. Given the number of failed 360s out there, I’m guessing that she should ramp up production on these. Maybe a boxed set of 10 would be a good idea.

Inspired by the demented HAL9000 computer from the classic science fiction flick, 2001: A Space Odyssey, it shows the inimitable RRoD symbol along with the saying “I’m afraid I can’t let you play that, Dave.” The shirt’s designer clearly had just about enough with his 360s crapping out on him, so had to immortalize his frustrations with this clever t-shirt.

So if you’ve had an 360 (or two or three) die on you, you’ve got to pick one up from SplitReason for $17.95.

In response to all the recent buzz about the high failure rate of their Xbox 360 console, Microsoft today announced that they will be extending the manufacturer’s warranty on many consoles to three years.

In response to all the recent buzz about the high failure rate of their Xbox 360 console, Microsoft today announced that they will be extending the manufacturer’s warranty on many consoles to three years.

If your console suffers from three flashing red lights on the “ring of light,” you’re covered. It doesn’t matter if the console is new or used, they’ll replace or fix it for free (including shipping.) So basically, you get a full warranty for one year for any defect, plus two more years to deal with the three-red-rings issue if it crops up.

In addition, if you’ve already paid to have a console repaired with this issue, Microsoft will reimburse you for your expenses.

It’s anticipated that this policy change will cost Microsoft over $1 billion to implement. Yikes. I bet the engineering team that designed the system’s cooling system is in some hot water (pun intended.)
