There’s no doubt in my mind that the Taiwanese love Angry Birds as much as everyone else, but check out this art installation of the red Angry Bird that was made for the Taiwanese presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen.

The installation itself features the head of the red Angry Bird. The bird is made of crimson-tinted piggy banks that have been arranged in a latticework to flesh out the bird. He must sure love playing Angry Birds if that’s the installation that’s featured outside his campaign office.

I wonder what his opponents will think of next. Probably a bunch of green piggies made from cans, or something along those lines.

Geneva Lab has just revealed their new Sound System XS, a portable/travel-sized speaker that looks like a retro clamshell alarm clock. This little guy is Bluetooth-compatible, so you’ll be able to send your tunes to it wirelessly.

The XS is also an FM radio and an alarm clock. The 2.1 speaker system has two 1″ tweeters and a 2¼” woofer, which is pretty good for a device of its size. The battery is rechargeable, and you’ll get 5 hours of play time.

If your media player doesn’t support Bluetooth or you just don’t want to waste battery, the XS also has a 3.5mm audio jack.

It weighs 1.1 pounds and measures 6.2″×4″×4.5″. The best part is the discrete LED display that shines through the speaker grille, along with the touch sensitive controls.

It will sell for $250 and is available for pre-order directly from Geneva Lab in black, white or red.

In the world of high-end cameras for shooting movies and video, the RED brand is at the top. These cameras are so awesome that they are what major directors are now using to film Hollywood blockbusters. The last video camera to surface from RED was called the RED Epic and the camera has a whopping 5K resolution.

The big shocker is the price, you can buy a very nice new car for the price of one of these Epic cameras – but they’re still cheaper than high-end 35mm and 70mm cameras. I like RC toys as much as the next guy, but I would never fly the creation the folks at OMStudios in Germany have put together. The system is an octocopter with eight little motors and propellers arrayed around a horseshoe underneath the copter.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Inside that big horseshoe shaped opening sits one of the crazy expensive RED Epic cameras. The copter can fly up to 150 meters in altitude and record in shocking clarity. I would rather not think of the repair bill if you crashed this awesome RC toy.

This is just what Dr. Mario ordered. More Hot Rod colors for the Nintendo 3DS. Okay, just one new color, but it’s a nice one: Flame Red. This new version of Nintendo’s latest hand held will arrive on September 9th, 2011.

It launches alongside the new Star Fox 64 3D game and will be available for the new $169.99 (USD) price point, which has already gone into effect. This way you have a cool new game to buy with that flaming red portable.

The big N hopes that the new price and this color offering will increase sales beyond the 830,000 3DS units already sold in the U.S. since its launch. Mario fans certainly have a reason to lay down the cash since Super Mario Land 3D will be arriving in November and Mario Kart 7 is coming in December. It’s a good time to be a Nintendo fanboy/girl. By the way, can you believe that we are on Mario Kart 7?

I have to admit that these lights are kind of cute, especially if you spend a lot of hours in front of a computer and love Super Mario Bros. While I can’t say if they’ll give you an extra life or make you grow bigger, these new green and red mushrooms from Super Mario Bros still look pretty cool.

These LED lights can double as night lights as well. While they can’t run off magic, they do use battery-power or USB-power to make them light up. Just make sure that no one tries to eat these, or they’ll be in for a nasty stomach ache.

The USB Mushroom Lamp is available from ThinkGeek for $9.99 (USD). Personally, glowing Starman LED lights would make more sense to me.

You would have to live under a rock and have never watched movies to not know who James Cameron is. This is the dude behind the blockbuster Avatar and Titanic. Apparently, Cameron has bought up 50 new and very high-end RED EPIC-M digital movie cameras for an unnamed project.

We already know that with the massive success that Avatar was worldwide the stage is set for a new flick in the franchise. These are no normal cameras. RED EPIC-M cameras are packed with tech and possibly the best-looking cameras on the planet with a very industrial design and an astounding 5K image resolution.

How much would 50 of the cameras cost? Some reports peg the number at close to $3 million. That is a drop in the massive bucket that is the budget for a blockbuster film like Avatar. Of course, the project could be unrelated to Avatar; about the only thing off the table is a sequel to Titanic.

A few weeks back we showed you that cool red Wii that was going to land in Japan. I am sure there were more than a few of you that were pissed because you couldn’t get your own red Wii, at least without a burning sensation when urinating (or traveling to Tokyo). Nintendo has now announced some good news for you; the red Wii is coming to the US.

You will be able to grab the red Wii that celebrates 25 years of Mario for $199.99 (USD). That much green will get you a glossy red Wii, matching Wii Remote Plus, a copy of the Super Mario Bros. Wii game, Wii Sports, and a matching red Wii Nunchuk. The console will only be offered while supplies last and will land on November 7.

Along with that red Wii will be a red DSi XL with Mario graphics, a copy of Mario Kart DS, and a Brain Age title pre-loaded. That DSi XL bundle is going to sell for $179.99. I like the red console; I wonder why the Wii doesn’t get some Mario graphics on it. If we are going to celebrate, let’s do it in style.

The Lego brick is the simplest form of a creative medium, the USB mouse is a creative tool for some. When you put these two together you get the USB Lego Mouse! The perfect gadget for those young at heart and are not afraid to show it off at their cubicle farm. The Lego Mouse features the standard USB mouse left and right click buttons and a scroll wheel.

Sadly you can’t stack these mice (mouses?) on top of one another, but you can pick one up for $31.96 (USD) at curiosite.com. They’re only available in the awesome color of red – which is fine by me.

The unusual laptop stand helps keeps your laptop or notebook computer cool and encourages better workplace ergonomics. All while looking like a 6-legged crab. Each one is laser-cut from red or clear acrylic, and comes with rubber feet to protect both your computer and your desktop from scratch crab claws. It fits 15″, 16″ and 17″ laptops, but a 14″ version is on the way soon. (Sorry, 13″ MacBookers!)

The Monster Monster is available over at monstermonstermonster.com (go figure) for £26.99 (appx. $44 USD).

Modder Tjpitbull decked out his 360 with a complete Left 4 Dead inspired look, covering the entire case with a distressed military green paintjob on both the console and controller. And you see that giant cutout “4″ from the game’s logo? It’s backlit with bright blood red LEDs when the lights go down – and the most appropriate Red Rings of Death you’ll ever see.

I promise I won’t write about any more L4D casemods unless someone manages to make one that looks just like a lifesize Boomer. And then it needs to explode and cover you with a malodorous slime that attracts a horde of smaller 360s.

This just in… It turns out the very first MAC computer was not released in 1984 by Apple. In fact, you can get your hands on a very rare candy apple red MAC made all the way back in 1980 if you’re the high bidder over on eBay.

Gotcha! This relic from 1980 wasn’t made by Apple at all. In fact the first MAC was made by a little company called Entex Electronics. Upon further inspection of the photos, it looks like this wasn’t just the first MAC, it was the first MAC Mini!

Check out the specs on this bad boy:

Many pre-programmed sub-routines included

Easy-to-read 16 LED display matrix

8-digit fluorescent numeric display

Full 4-function calculator, with memory

TMS 1600 N2LL Micro-processor

TMS 1170 NLHL Micro-processorTMS 1024 NLL Input/Output Expander

6,000 Bytes of ROM

1,024 Bits of RAM

Did you hear that? 6 THOUSAND Bytes of ROM and over 1 THOUSAND Bits of RAM. Wow. Entex was truly ahead of their time. Even Apple wasn’t innovative enough to include an Organ/Piano/Off switch on their Macs.

Best of all, you can get your hands on this rare early MAC. It’s currently up for bid on eBay, with a starting price of just 99 cents! For some reason, I think the asking price just went up.

What might television look like in hell? Maybe a bit like this.

This incredibly lo-fi SatanVision television set was designed by David Forbes. It’s outputs of an unbelievably crappy 128×96 resolution image, and all of the pixels are red. Here it is playing the only video game they have in the underworld, Pong. Oh, and they only have one paddle down there, too.

And thanks to the low wattage red LEDs, it’s virtually useless in the daylight. Good thing that there is no daylight in hell.

All kidding aside, it took David months and over $1000 of his hard-earned dough (and an entire roll of duct tape) to build this intentionally crummy display. To pull it off, he built out an array of 8×8 LED panels he found over on eBay, and then built a custom controller circuit which converts the television signal into something you can display on the LEDs.

Want to build your own SatanVision TV? David provides a full set of schematics, PCB artwork and firmware for the controller over at his site, Cathode Corner.

So I guess it’s a good thing that they’re named these lamps Supercool.

Designed by Germany’s hansandfranz for Macrolux, the Supercool lamp features a dynamic, adjustable structure that lets it fit just about anywhere. The structure of each Supercool lamp is based on a telescoping aluminum pole that can be set to a wide variety of heights and angles with ease.

Not only can you adjust the height and move the lighting bar up and down the pole, but you can rotate the lighting reflector a full 360-degrees. And thanks to a bright grid of LEDs, these lights cast a wonderful modern accent on your walls, while requiring little power and never needing their bulbs to be changed.

No word on pricing, but like most uber-modern lighting fixtures, I’m going to guess they’re not cheap. You can find more information on the Supercool lamps over at MacroLux.

Rejoice (Japan)! New colors for Nintendo entertainment systems! And at last, new colors for the Wii. Well, new color, singular. Well, sort of a color. It’s black. Well, it’s different, anyway.

The new DSi is decked out in red, which is nice, but not a patch on this sexy black Wii.

While the matte surface is much more practical for a handheld, it just isn’t as slick as the shine on that Wii. Of course, they never look like that in my house. Five minutes here and it’s probably been colored on by sticky little hands.

No announcements yet for release of these colors outside of Japan, but it’s likely they, or other shades, will soon make the leap.

The neo-modern design of this BrionVega desktop radio harkens back to a sixties’ Italian design aesthetic. Maybe that’s because it’s actually based on a radio the company actually made back in 1965 in Italy.

BrionVega’s RR227 is a modern-day update of Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper’s classic RR127 radio, which they created over 44 years ago. The updated model comes with AM and FM radio tuners, and the ability to play MP3 or WMA digital audio files. Just drop an SD card into the slot and connect your computer via USB to load it up with your tunes. There’s also an AUX jack for connecting your iPod or other media player too.

The RR227 features a unique design that lets you place it either horizontally or vertically and still make sense out of the tuning dial. The radio comes in white, black or red ABS plastic, making it both lightweight and sturdy. Sound is provided by a 3-watt amp, and there’s a headphone jack for listening to the radio in seclusion. While the radio comes with an AC power pack that probably won’t work in the U.S. without an adapter, you’ll be happy to know it runs on batteries too.

While I first found the RR227 over at French retailer Singulier for €199 (appx. $262 USD), you can also find them over on eBay Italy for around €150 (appx. $196 USD) with a little digging.

Capcom really thinks Resident Evil fans are willing to spend a lot of money. First, they announced the $90 Collector’s Edition of Resident Evil 5, a megabox packed with all sorts of essentials, like a necklace, a patch, and a figurine. Oh, and the game, of course. But if that’s not enough Resident Evil goodness for you, take heart: word on the street is that there’s an even bigger bundle coming: a bundle with a limited edition red Xbox 360 console.

It will probably look a lot like this, except that there will be a console somewhere, too. Or maybe the set will feature a darker, bloodier sort of red. Either way, the infamous Red Ring of Death will look really nice on your new Xbox 360!

Better than this bundle? Some would say so, while others would prefer that messenger bag. Odds are you already have an Xbox if you’re scoping out Resident Evil 5, after all. Of course, it’s probably not red.

If it pans out, the rumored console bundle will include a copy of Resident Evil 5, a red Xbox 360 console, a single matching controller, an exclusive Resident Evil 5 theme for the New Xbox Experience, and a coupon inviting purchasers to download Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix to that sweet new ‘Box for free. Resident Evil 5 is set for release in March, and you’ll even be able to buy just the game if you’re not in the market for a bunch of extra stuff.

Yeah, I know. The Dark Knight was arguably the best movie of 2008, but can Christian Bale’s throaty rasp really hold a candle to Adam West’s booming baritone Batman? Now you can bring back memories of the classic camp of the original Batman TV show with these great accessories that help you turn your room into a regular Wayne Manor.

Imagine the phone rings when your friends are over for dinner. You saunter on over to your desk, where you proceed to pull this candy apple Batphone out of the drawer and answer the call. Just be sure to end every call with “we’re on our way,” to keep them wondering if you’re living a secret double life as a superhero. Need to make an outbound call to Commissioner Gordon? Just press the button on the face of the phone, and the cover flips open to reveal a push-button dial.

When you’re ready to run out to your garage Bat-Cave for some crime-fighting action, dash on over to this replica of Bruce Wayne’s famous Shakespeare bust, flip open his lid, and activate the switch inside to activate the door to your secret Bat-cave. What, you don’t have a secret door? Then maybe you can plug it into a set of Christmas lights, or maybe your stereo so they turn on when you activate the remote power outlet that’s connected to the Bard’s bust.

The guys over at RED5 sell the Batphone for £50 (appx. $77 USD) and you can find the the remote-control Shakespeare bust over at Red Hot Phones for (holy credit card, Batman!) $312 bucks.
