A sweet, if awfully roundabout way to say you 01101100 01101111 01110110 01100101 someone. You can get the Computer Love Ring at Lyndsay Behrens’ (aka Idle Hands Designs) Etsy shop for $63 (USD).

This unique creation looks to me like one cool ring, one of the rare rings that I’m actually interested in, other than the One ring to rule them all.

It’s called the Kinekt Gear Ring, and it’s a perfect gift for any tinkerer or mechanically-inclined geek. In fact, anyone that likes to fidget with things will probably get highly addicted to spinning the embedded gears of this ring.

The Gear Ring is made from high quality matte stainless steel. It has a total of six micro-precise gears that will turn in unison when the outer rims are spun. While that all sounds good, perhaps it’s best left to be shown in action:

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

It’s currently available from KinektDesign.com for $165 (USD).

From the makers of the bulletproof pocket square comes r¿ng, a white gold band with three interchangeable rough diamonds, each with a different color. One of them looks like a lump of coal, but overall this is a unique, eye-catching and refreshing take on jewelry.

Each stone is set on a custom-made claw and can be screwed on and off the band, so even though the set is very pricey, you’re practically getting three unique rings in one. Your wives wife will freakin’ love you if you get them this.

Props to the product page writers for their playful but accurate take on how the ring will be used: “So now, she chooses which stone to wear – one for work and one for stares. One for evenings and one for mournings [sic]. One for what ever she cares.”

Prospective buyers will be glad to know that the diamonds come from legitimate sources and are conflict-free. Unfortunately they’re really expensive. Contact Sruli Recht via e-mail with the subject “r¿ng enquiry” and be prepared to pay €3530 (approx. $5,060 USD) to order. And here I was thinking that the money saved from not having to polish and cut the diamonds would lower the cost of the thing.

One bead, one bead, two beads, three… it’s almost like a song! But instead it’s an homage to the famous sequence of numbers introduced to Europe by Leonardo of Pisa. And it’s the kind of thing even your non-mathy friends can admire, without even knowing what it means.

These handmade rings are simpler than they seem and are available for only $12 from the holmescraft Etsy store. If you don’t like one set of beads, fear not–you can probably find another color that suits your fancy.

Here’s a sure-fire way to tell if your girlfriend really loves you. Get down on one knee -there ya go – then whip out the velvet ring box – yep, that’s it – then give her this awesome Cylon Centurion engagement ring and ask her for her hand in marriage. If she says “yes”, it’s true love.

Each one of these chunky retro Cylon Centurion rings is made from a silver-toned metal, with an inset red glass scanner eye. Unfortunately, it doesn’t move back and forth. Too bad there’s not enough room to hack in one of these LED eyeballs.

Galactica fans, you can find the Cylon Centurion rings over on ThinkGeek for $39.99 to $49.99 (USD), depending on size.

…oh, and if she tells you “no”, just whip out your laser blaster and evaporate her.

See that? That’s gold. And rubies. This is serious fandom here. DeviantARTist Dans-Magic has made a number of these custom pieces, and in fact, this isn’t the only bit of Transformers bling he’s done. Check out this pendant set with sapphires:

It’s not just Transformers, though; Dans-Magic has a number of other items, including Predator jewelry (!!) and themes from outside of pop culture. Custom orders accepted, but remember that they come with a custom price.

These Encoder Rings are decorated with holes that represent a 64-character code rendered in binary. This is your big chance to wear sensitive data on your finger, since only geeks with great eyesight would ever have a chance of figuring out what was on there.

The rings are a concept piece designed by Jonathan Ben-Tovim. You can see more of his work on his website. He imagines people could make up their own messages and then the rings could be made with rapid-prototyping technology.

Ben-Tovin doesn’t mention what the rings are made of, but they look crazy futuristic. Also, like they would make your finger sweaty. Nevertheless, these are way cooler than those decoder rings that used to come in the Fruity Pebbles box… those were totally over-hyped, seriously.

Here’s a fun little holiday project for you mechanically-inclined folks out there. This strange looking contraption connects to your computer and rings a little bell every time a visitor hits your website.

With a few bucks worth of off the shelf parts, an Arduino board, a USB cable and a little code, you too can have one for your website, thanks to this detailed “how-to” article over on Tinkerlog.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

While I think the idea is really clever, I think you’d end up throwing the thing against the wall if you have even a mildly popular website. But if you just have a personal blog, or only want to monitor a single page, it could be gratifying to hear the little bell ring every time a visitor pops by.

Planning on asking that tech savvy girl for her hand in wedded bliss? Here’s a way to really make a splash when you present her with that all important ring.

The $199 Euricase Ring Box has a tiny 2-inch LCD screen and multimedia player built into the lid. When she opens the box, your beloved can view up to 500 pictures of your favorite memories, or up to 60 minutes of video. The box comes in a variety of finishes including the super shiny metallic gold shown here (add $50), and offers ample protection for your precious two months’ worth of salary inside.

Now as much as the ring box can be used for good, it could also be used for evil. The surefire way to get kicked to the curb with one of these would be: a) to spend more on the box than you do on the ring or b) to not pop the question in person, and instead record a video proposal.

These tiny Light Charms clip onto your mobile phone and blink whenever a call is coming in (thanks to those lovely radio frequency emissions.) They’re available in both a mini light bulb version (in white or blue) and a mini lava lamp version (in red or blue) which is only appropriate since Mathmos was the original creator of the lava lamp back in the sixties.

They’re just £6 each (about $12 USD) from Mathmos’ U.K. online store.
