Hamster-Powered Submarine Doesn’t Fire Tiny Torpedoes (But it Should)

I have to think all the way back to 2007′s hamster-powered paper shredder to the last time I wrote about a gadget which could run on rodent power. But much like the Flintstones, I’ve always wanted more technology to operate on animal power. So I was happy to see that somebody finally created just what nobody actually needed – a submarine that runs on hamster energy.

That’s right. No nuclear fuel rods here, just good old fashioned fast feet on a wheel. This odd looking contraption called the HPS Hamstar was actually created out of an 3-liter soda bottle, with a hamster cage grafted into the middle of it. The whole thing is air-tight, so it doesn’t leak. In case you’re worried about hammie expiring from lack of oxygen – don’t. The HPS Hamstar has air hoses running into it to keep him breathing and happy. As happy as an underwater hamster in a wheel can be, that is. Live in a rat-infested fleabag of an apartment? Well even if you don’t, you can still scare the beejezus out of your roommates with your very own remote-controlled rat.

With its light-up red eyeballs, I wouldn’t necessarily call this rat-on-wheels “lifelike”. But its hairy body and quick moves are probably enough to freak out your pals – especially if you drive it around with the lights off in the middle of the night.

Eek! Speakers That Look Like Mice (Sorta)

In the beginning, there were speakers that looked like dogs, then along came some cats, so I guess it was only a matter of time before the rodentia would feel left out of the audio food chain.

Like their mammalian inspiration, these Forus Mouse Speakers feature a long snout and rounded ears. And just like real mice, their skulls pop open to reveal tiny speakers inside their bulbous heads. To complete the illusion, they come in several realistic mouse colors including gloss black, candy apple red, and lime green.

Sold? Unfortunately, it looks like they’re only available in Korea for now. If you’re willing to do a little legwork, you might be able to score a pair from Shinsegae Mall for 17,000 KRW (about $18.50) a pair.

Hp Laser Printer Comes With Free Mouse

Is your new HP LaserJet making funny noises? Before you call tech support, you might want to double check that there aren’t any rodentia living in the box.

A chain e-mail has been circulating with a claim that someone found a mouse living inside their laser toner cartridge. Given the source, I question the credibility of this, but it’s still pretty funny.

And yes, before any of you go all PETA on my ass, the mouse got out safely.
