I usually don’t go for Bollywood movies, or Kollywood in this case, but when I heard about this movie, called The Robot or Endhiran, I simply had to watch it. It’s kind of hard to describe, but suffice it to say that it is the most expensive Indian film ever made, with a budget of over 35 million dollars.

The premise is quite simple. A scientist creates an android and he creates havoc when he’s captured and modified by his nemesis. The movie is 2 hours and 43 minutes long, so you have to watch it in at least two sittings, and the over-the-top action scenes are indescribable. Take a look at the embedded clip and you’ll see what I mean.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

It’s well worth the 10 minutes. The movie has even more scenes like this, but it takes a while to get there. Most of this action happens towards the end of the movie.

Looking for the perfect gift for your child? Well here’s an idea, get them a new bed. I know what you’re thinking, a kid is going to get as excited about a new bed as they would a pair of socks on Christmas morning. But I’m not talking about just any ordinary bed. No, this sucker is a replica of the fighter flown by Darth Vader himself (albiet in the prequel trilogy, not the classic movies). What kid wouldn’t want to sleep in that? (If your child is a Star Trek fan, then there’s no hope for them anyway.)

The downside is that these Deep Space Fighter Beds start at $18,000 (USD). The upside is that you can have them custom build whatever space ship you want, and they’ll toss in a customized wall mural. Cool as that may be, I doubt many people are going to pay the price of a new car just to give their kids a fancy bed.

Check out the new Periodic Table of Sci-Fi Film and Television and let me know if you can find all of your favorite shows and movies. And if you can’t, feel free to complain in the comments below.

Overall, I think you’ll find the table more inclusive of your faves than not. Illustrator Kris Straub of Starslip and Chainsawsuit designed this graphic which offers elements for everything from Spc(1999) to DS9 on the table. I’m just stoked that they included Chln(of Men) on the Metallcrichtonide chart, and TW(elve Monkeys) in the Cameronkubriclarkine groups. And it’s only fitting that Lgn(Logan’s Run) and Du(ne) are on the “inert” section.

You can see a bigger image of the entire table here, and can buy posters of the table over at TopatoCo in either 14.5″ x 18″ ($18 USD) or oversize 22″ x 27.5″ ($28) versions to hang on your wall. Right alongside your Alessandra Torresani pin-up poster.

Created by science fiction fan/modder Henk Hamers (aka “Gup”), this incredible casemod gets its inspiration from the famous pyramid/spacecraft from the Stargate series.

No detail was spared in the construction of this neo-futuristic PC, which Henk built using a custom metal frame, wood, acrylic and polystyrene panels. Henk (with the help of his devoted wife) put together this amazing PC which even features sliding side panels, cool yellow backlighting and a hidden computer display inside. System specs for the pyramid PC include a mini-ITX mobo, an Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T7200 CPU, a low-profile GeForce 9400GT graphics card, and compact storage on a 2.5″ hard drive and CF card. Somehow Henk even managed to cram a DVD-RW drive in cramped quarters of the pyramid, since this is a media center PC after all.

Check out the gallery below to see more angles and some of the build while it was in progress.

Leiji Matsumoto is known in many circles as one of the founding fathers of anime and manga, creating science fiction classics like Space Battleship Yamoto and Galaxy Express 999. Now his unique futuristic style has found a home in an unlikely host – this dramatic watch.

The bold and badass Leiji Meter watch from Japan’s Seahope and ZERO Goods Universe will definitely draw stares when you wear it to your next business meeting. The body of the watch is constructed from a beefy metal superalloy that’s used in the manufacture of aircraft and rockets, and designed to resist oxidation.

Now I have no idea how to tell time on this thing, but I’m guessing it has something to do with those gauges, LED bars, and electroluminescent panels. Or maybe it doesn’t tell time at all. Who knows? Who cares? It just looks cool on your wrist.

You can get your hands on the Leiji Meter watch over at Seahope for ¥39,900 (appx. $462 USD).

Visual novels aren’t quite the same deal in the west as they are in Japan, which is why we don’t get incredible titles like 428.
Bionic Heart is an interactive story with up to 24 endings available for the completionists. The Tycoon Games title is set in futuristic London, and is chock full of romance and comedy. Oh, and science fiction. There’s a little of that, too.

What die-hard Trekkie could possibly walk around without a communicator? Now you can own this nifty remake of the original 23rd-century Starfleet communicator from the 1960s TV classic.

The modern-day replica offers up blinking lights and sounds just like the original Starfleet-issue communications gizmo. It’s even got a cool moving moire effect, making it even more retro-fabulous. I also love the “Hailing” feature, which lets you press a button on the face, flip the metal grill closed, and receive a call back from the Enterprise a few seconds later.

It’s loaded with over 20 phrases and sound effects from the classic Trek universe, including original sound samples from the TV show. While it’s not actually functional for two-way communications, it would be cool to crack one open and stuff your cell phone inside of it. I’d love to walk down the street making a call with one of these in my hand. After all, who needs Bluetooth headsets when you’ve got one of these?

The Star Trek Classic Communicator is available now from ThinkGeek for $29.99.

This huge animatronic Gort robot comes to us courtesy of the classic 1951 science fiction flick, The Day the Earth Stood Still. Now, this imposing fella can be yours if you’re ready to pony up the dough.

Up for auction over on eBay (current bid is over $4000), the museum-quality replica is eight feet tall, and features some remote-controlled mechanical moves. It’s big enough that the seller is only allowing local pickups (I wouldn’t want to try and cram this thing into a mailbox either). The fiberglass reproduction was handcrafted by the robot builders at Fred Barton Productions, and has been on public display for the last few years.

I’d like one of these out on our front porch to scare those annoying door-to-door petitioners and religious zealots away.

Even yelling “Klaatu barada nikto!” won’t stop this one.

If the beer-pouring robot I told you about earlier today isn’t really your cup of tea (no pun intended) maybe you’ll like this one.

Now you too can own a fully functional, life-sized replica of the original Lost in Space Robot B9 from the famous 1960′s sci-fi TV show. Yeah, the robot that uttered the famous saying “Danger, Will Robinson” can now be yours for the low, low price of $24,500.

Each robot is crafted from steel, acrylic, aluminum rubber and other materials and doesn’t skimp on construction in any way. B9 has a number of animated movements and a digital audio system loaded with over 500 tracks from the original actor who voiced the original robot on TV. A remote control lets you activate, deactivate and control the robot.

B9Creations painstakingly hand-builds each replica, which is designed to be as faithful as possible to the original robot (actually the one from Season Three according to their website) so they can only crank out around 30 to 50 robots per year.
