Facto Royale Salon Has Limbs Poking Out from Their Walls

Just last night, I had a nightmare where I was at a salon and zombies (who, coincidentally, looked like the ones from The Walking Dead) were just plowing their way through the walls.

The good thing is that I didn’t have that dream while I was at the Facto Royale Salon in Portugal. It might look like an ordinary salon, but you’ll soon discover that the design is unique for reasons other than the fact that it’s decked out with 5,000 Swarovski crystals and a crystallized skull of a deer head with antlers.

In true Walking Dead style, there are random human limbs poking through the walls in the salon. Functional limbs, that is, because they serve as racks, hooks, and handles to hold various tools and objects in place.

The shop was designed by architect Igor Ferreira, who wanted to surprise salon-goers by coming up with something that’s almost the opposite of what people would actually expect at a salon.

Confiscated TSA Scissors Turned into Creepy Spiders

I hate spiders almost as much as Indiana Jones hates snakes. Especially spiders like these, with sharp legs as well as fangs. The metal spider you see here was created by mechanical artist Christopher Locke, who created them from scissors that were confiscated at airports by the TSA.

I have never looked at a pair of scissors and thought, “Hey that would make an awesome killer spider”, bit Chris obviously sees things differently. His sharp sculptures are eerie and creepy and we can all thank God that scissor spiders don’t roam around our homes.

Thanks to a contact at the TSA, he gets all of the items like scissors and Swiss Army knives that he could want, allowing him to create monstrosities like these ones. Each is equally handmade, unique and freaky looking. Check out Chris’ Heartless Machine website, where you can buy them for between $150 to $350 (USD).

I’m sure you’ve all had your share of frustration opening up those annoying heat-sealed plastic clamshell packages.
