Silent Hill Nurses Land in Ohio

The Silent Hill video game series always gave me the creeps. There aren’t too many games that made me jump out of my seat at times, but those games always had me on edge. Sure there was Pyramid Head, but they also had those really creepy Bubble Head Nurses starting in Silent Hill 2. These chicks were definitely the stuff nightmares are made of. A couple of them broke out of the institution and showed up at last week’s Ohayocon convention.

For some reason, these girls look a little more sexy than the ones in the game. Maybe it’s that “come hither” body language they’re showing off as they wave around their bloody pipes, or maybe it’s just that the Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio has better lighting than Silent Hill.

My god. Are those bandages or burnt rubber duckie flesh? I don’t know why I’m even telling you this, but here goes: you can order the Silent Hill Rubber Duckie from UndeadEd at Etsy for $20 (USD). It’s lower beak has been melted off for god’s sake! *cries*

Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head on a Nightmare Blanket

I don’t know about you, but when I’m waking up from a nightmare, I want to be able to clutch my blanket in comfort, not in added terror. Apparently, though, not everyone is like this, or this Silent Hill-themed blanket would not exist.

Seriously, Pyramid Head is just about the scariest character in all of video gaming. Is the blanket awesome? Oh yes, certainly, and it took an impressive three weeks worth of heavy crocheting to complete. A Pyramid Head sweater? I could get behind that. A wall hanging? Sure. But Pyramid Head on my bed is terrifying, even without that rhyme.

But crafter lateralthirdeye also has a snuggly Cthulhu on the bed, too, so apparently the bedroom is just where the scary things live for some folks.

My Little Ponies From Silent Hill

I’m undecided on the custom My Little Pony phenomenon. Every time I want to like it, I see something completely outrageous like these Silent Hill ponies. Pyramid Head does not inspire love in me. Well, maybe a little, in a twisted way.

There is nothing about this picture that doesn’t disturb me on some level. Look at the wooden fence in the background! You don’t see fences like that in places of happiness and fun. Someone always ends up impaled when there’s a fence like that around, and if the fence doesn’t do it, Pyramid Head will.

Sorry, distracted by memories of Silent Hill 2. Anyway, these Silent Hill ponies are available on eBay. $30 apiece (or more, by the time of auction’s end) seems like a lot, but the detail work is pretty good, and these are a lot more elaborate than many custom ponies I’ve seen. And a lot creepier.

Creepy-Yet-Cute Amigurumi Bunnies

It’s official: amigurumi can make anything cute, from vomiting zombies to, well, just about everything in Moon Yen’s “Moon Buns” crochet series. The Moon Buns are all bunnies, sure, but not just any bunnies. These little guys have the soft bodies and long ears… as well as pins stuck in their faces, fangs, and occasionally, tentacles.

All sorts of critters and characters are represented in the series, from Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger and Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head (above) to classics like the shark from Jaws, the creepy twins from The Shining, and a chupacabra. They’re so adorable you just want to schoop them up and hug them! Except they might stab, bite, claw, or otherwise maim you. Ogle with caution, and keep a light on.
