PEGA’s oddly-named “Vibrating Bag” adds rumble capability to your stock PS3 controller. Now they don’t specify if the vibration actually works when the game generates its feedback signal, or if the thing just continuously rumbles. But couldn’t your tired hands use a relaxing massage anyway?

In addition to adding some unwelcome bulk to the controller, the remote receiver that plugs into the console has a huge antenna sticking out of it, messing with your PS3’s sleek good looks.

If the contraption wasn’t off-kilter enough, it also has a built-in FM radio – ’cause there’s not thing I like to do more while playing a round of Uncharted than cranking up the Boomer and the Nudge morning show.

So if you really, really can’t bear to spend the bucks on a proper PS3 DualShock Controller, head on over to DealExtreme and take your chances.

The companies today announced an agreement which will enable Sony to include vibration feedback (a.k.a. “haptic technology,”) in their products once more. Although Sony insisted that it was for technical reasons, this lawsuit is widely believed to be the reason that rumble was omitted from the PS3’s SIXAXIS controller. Now that it’s all water under the bridge, it’s definitely possible that Sony could release an upgraded controller capable of both motion-sensing AND rumble. The settlement is reported to have cost Sony at least $22.5 million in cash between now and the end of 2009.

These oddly textured silicon caps attach to the top of the PlayStation 3’s analog sticks, supposedly protecting the thumbsticks and providing grip, all while making your controller the ugliest one on the block. In case the silver ones aren’t tacky enough for you, they also come in silver, white, pink, blue as well as an utterly pointless black.

That all said, it’s us gamers who really lost out, and there are certainly some games where rumble feedback is sorely missed. Thankfully, the guys over at Edmonton-based SplitFish have come up with a new force feedback system which they claim won’t interfere with the SIXAXIS motion sensors (or just wouldn’t infringe on Immersion’s patents). If Sony opted for this technology, perhaps we could see rumble once more on PlayStation controllers, or at least on some 3rd-party controllers.

That all said, if no PS3 games support rumble, does it really matter?

Filling a void in both Nintendo’s and Sony’s product lines, the docks allow you to neatly recharge your controllers without unsightly cables running between the controllers and the consoles. Since the PS3’s controllers are already rechargeable, all you need to do is drop the controllers into Charge Base PS3 and go. The PS3 version can hold and charge up to 4 controllers at once. The Wii version holds two controllers and includes two NiMH rechargeable battery packs that also have a nice rubberized backing, presumable to improve your grip on the Wii-mote.
