I can’t imagine a better way to smoke up some tasty meats but with this R2-D2 BBQ smoker, cooked up by mega-Star Wars fan Philip Wise of The New Wookiee Workshop, TheForce.Net and Rebelscum.com.

Constructed from an aging 55-gallon drum (just like the real R2-D2, I’ve been told), the Rs-BQ smoker is perfect for smoking Ewoks, Gungans and other lesser lifeforms – and then smothering them with Imperial BBQ sauce.

The R2-BQ is perfect accompaniment to the Death Star BBQ grill.

Blu Makes Sure You Won’t Be Blue and Lonely While Smoking Your E-Cigs

I have a lot of friends who are smokers trying to quit. And it was through them that I first heard of the electronic cigarette.

I thought that it was a pretty cool innovation back then and I still do today. And e-cigarette maker Blu has just made things a whole lot cooler: by adding a social networking feature.

Its reach isn’t exactly as far and wide as Facebook’s, being limited to just 50 feet and all, but it’s still a pretty cool thing. Each pack of e-cigarettes comes with a reusable pack which also doubles as the charger. The soon-to-be released packs will detect the radio signals emitted by other Blu packs by e-smokers within the area and alert the owner by vibrating and flashing a blue light.

If the other smoker is someone you’d like to make some further connections with, just head on over with your Blu pack in tow and if the other party consents, you can exchange contact info and Facebook profile info via the Blu packs. Convenient, right?

The all-new “smart” packs will go on sale next month for $80 (USD).

Gundam Head Ashtray: Who’s Been Putting Their Coals Out in My Mobile Suit?

I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but Japan can be a weird place. At least if you judge the country strictly by the oddball gadgets and toys that they release, on a regular basis, they are. Take, for example, this wacky bit of Gundam-inspired schwag from the island nation.

What you’re looking at here is the brand-spanking-new Gundam Illumination Ashtray. Based on either the head of Zaku II (MS-06S) or Gouf (MS-07B), these ashtrays are just the thing for the Gundam fan/smoker who has everything. And I’m sure you know dozens of people who fit that bill, right?

They’re designed for use in your car, are easy to clean out, and even offers LED illumination so you can see where you’re stubbing out your cigarette butts.

Personally, if I did smoke, I’d rather have one that looks like a complete Mobile Suit, with all its weapons, instead of just a decapitated one. But if you don’t care, you can get your hands on one over at StrapyaWorld for about $35 (USD).

Firescuba Smoke Filter: Pocket Gas Mask

It does look like the pouch for french fries used by fast food chains, but the FireScuba could be one life-saving product. While it may not be as efficient as a gas mask or smoke hood, it’s main advantage is its size and form.

I think I can fit a couple of these in my wallet. As DVICE‘s Michael Trei said, the best smoke hood won’t be able to help if you don’t have it with you when a fire breaks out. The FireScuba is made of nothing but cardboard and a carbon filter, so not only will it be easier to carry, I’m sure it’s also a hell of a lot cheaper to make than a gas mask.

Obviously it still needs to be tested, but the designer is onto something here; I hope the FireScuba becomes an actual product. I guess it all depends on how efficient the carbon filter is in trapping smoke.

Incense Smoking Robots: Huh, Wha?

Normally, if I told you your robot was smoking, you’d have to send it in to a technician to have it looked at. I’m not quite sure why anyone came up with this idea, but they did. This little robot keeps your room nice and smelly, thanks to a incense burner hiding in its belly. Say, I made a rhyme, and I wasn’t even trying!

Even though these handmade German wooden robots measure just a little more than 6-inches tall, they should do a great job stinking up your entire room. Can you tell I don’t care for the way most incense smells? But I guess its better than the greasy oilcan aroma that most robots leave behind.

Cigarette Pack Mobile Phone: Smoke ‘Em if You Got ‘Em

While most of us are off enjoying our shiny new iPhones and Droids, those of you who prefer your phones ugly, bulky, and loaded with nicotine might want to check this out.

Now why you’d want a cell phone that looks like a pack of cigarettes is anyone’s guess. All I can assume is that if there’s a strange gadget that’s yet be made in China, they’ll make it. These particular phones are dead ringers packs of Marlboros, complete with flip-top box and storage for actual cigarettes. The Marlboro 508 phone is pretty standard low-end cell phone fare, featuring a dual-band GSM phone (works everywhere but the U.S.), a 1.6-inch screen, and MP3/MP4 player, bluetooth and an FM radio. One interesting feature is a 1.3-megapixel camera that’s hidden in the side of the cigarette pack for your spy shots.

If you’re a smoker, or just want to look like one for some reason, you can grab a Marlboro phone over at ChinaGrabber for $144.99 (USD) a pack. Isn’t that about what a carton of cigarettes sells for these days anyhow?

Rock Band Stage Kit Adds Lights and Smoke as You Jam

For a brief moment yesterday, an image appeared over on GameStop showing off this forthcoming add-on for your Rock Band performances. The kit includes everything you need to put on your own Spinal Tap-esque stage show in your garage, except for the 18-inch tall Stonehenge.

According to the box are, Performance Design Product’s Rock Band Stage Kit is an “Interactive Light and Smoke Stage Show” to accompany your Rock Band jam sessions. Rumor has it that the light show is even synchronized to the music.

GameStop was quick to yank the image of the product, but the listing is still live, showing a 6/23/2008 release date and a retail price of $99.99. If you can’t wait, you can always pick up some cheap nightclub lighting to achieve a similar effect.
