You have Sega games on Nintendo consoles, you can even play old Atari games on any console. Many of us have  both a PS3 and an XBox 360. There’s no brand loyalty, just the love of games. However you can’t help thinking back to those days when something like this shows up. A Sega themed Wii? If you would have told me back then that this could happen, I would have laughed. But here we are.

This Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games bundle had to happen eventually. In case you’re wondering, this is the new version of the Wii. The Wii-Lite. (There’s no wi-fi and you can’t play Gamecube games).

They even make you do all of the work, providing a sticker sheet so that you can create your Sega themed Wii. Thanks Nintendo. I can already put stickers on things.

You get a blue Wii, a blue Wii Remote Plus, a blue Nunchuk, the game, and a sticker sheet. If you’re interested in this oddity, you can get it in Europe on November 18th for an unknown price.

See, wasn’t that worth it? I especially love the fact that he’s not just playing the theme song on guitar and piano, but actually making the sound effects for Sonic grabbing up rings, jumping and spinning.

I think my favorite button-eyed Becky character is Sonic. No it’s Link. Nah, Bub and Bob! Wait it’s Pikachu. Screw it, they’re all my favorites. I can keep all of ‘em anyway. I would wear the crap out of a button-eyed Pikachu T-shirt though.

I’ve played several Sonic games over the last several years. Or tried to anyway. They just lack the excitement and fun of the original Sonic games and they always seem like they were rushed into production too. Is it too much to ask to give us a good Sonic game? Well, it looks like we may finally have one after all these years, judging by this gameplay footage of Sonic Generations.

The only concern I would have is this: Hopefully these aren’t complete remakes of the original games. What we want is the old-school game play with some new elements added in. New areas to visit and new things to discover. Seeing the footage above definitely makes me want to take a closer look though.

While I think that Sonic’s candies should look like gold rings, I’m guessing they thought a roll of Butter Rum LifeSavers would have been sort of lame, so they went ahead and made these mystical, magical Chaos Emerald candies instead. (Memo to self: call the LifeSavers folks with this idea.)

Each tin of Sonic candy comes in a tin that looks like Sonic’s spiky blue hair, and is loaded with apple and cherry flavored candies shaped like emeralds. It would be cool if they came in all the different emerald colors, but you’ll have to settle for red only. You can grab a tin over at fractalspin for $3.25 (USD). Mad Catz has unveiled a cool new inductive charge station (PDF) for Nintendo Wii remotes. The station has Sonic standing there on his grassy knoll holding up two fingers to tell you the maximum controller occupancy for the charger.

The stand ships with a pair of rechargeable batteries and uses magnets to align the controllers for charging. You don’t even have to take the silicone case of your remotes to charge, and it will work with the Motion Plus accessories installed as well. You can find the limited edition charger over at Amazon for $39.99 (USD).

NKOK is releasing these The Sonic Speed Star and Knuckles Land Breaker R/C cars, based on the vehicles in Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing. Each one can reach speeds of up to 7 mph, and operate on separate frequencies so you can race against a friend. Plus, they both have working headlights so you can see where you’re going in case Dr. Eggman Robotnik is lurking in the dark.

You’ll be able to get the Sonic and Knuckles vehicles starting this month at Toys’R'Us and Sears Canada stores for $24.99 (USD) each.

The Hungry Blue Hedgehog Shirt was designed by the warped minds of Sam & Fuzzy, and is available in a wide variety of sizes over at Topatoco (which might just be my new favorite store), for $18.25 (USD).

The set comes with a pair of wired remote controls, and wheeled versions of Sonic and Tails to race around the 4-foot oval loop track. The guys over at Sonic fanblog Emerald Coast got their hands on a set, and weren’t that thrilled with how frequently Sonic goes flying off the rails though. Somehow Tails manages to stay on the track better. Go figure. I blame Dr. Robotnik.

The Super Sonic Racing System is available from UK retailer Play.com for £8.99 (appx. $15 USD). Frankly, I think this would have been way cooler if it had some crazy loops and corkscrews on the track. Oh well, what do you want for $15 bucks?

Freetron’s FunPlay 20-in-1 not only can be connected to your television, but since it runs on 3-AAA batteries can be played on the road with portable DVD players (as long as they have a video input). The battery-operated circuit also makes this a perfect candidate for portable game system hackers – although the built-in 16-bit Genesis/Mega Drive emulator is limited to the 20 included games as far as I can tell.

Of course, if you don’t need to take it on the road, and you’ve got a PS3 or Xbox 360, you owe it to yourself to check out Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection instead – which includes twice as many games for just $28 (USD).

Yep, there’s just something about those tiny, efficient vehicles that–no, you know what? There’s no reason to associate this Smart car with Sonic the Hedgehog other than the fact that the car has a Sonic wrap.

But maybe that’s the genius of Sega of France at work. Pair two seemingly unrelated things until we’re all talking about Sonic Unleashed. Damn! It’s working.

Run down in the prime of his life, it’s unknown why Sonic was wandering around this parking lot in the North of England. Police report a that a number of golden rings were found scattered across the parking lot, fueling speculation that foul play was involved. The driver of the Opel Corsa couldn’t be located after the accident, but a rotund, egg-shaped man was seen fleeing from the scene carrying a briefcase full of emeralds.

Crafter BeBeBunBunBits (nope, I didn’t make that up) made these whimsical hats based on Sonic the Hedgehog and his video game pals, Tails and Amy Rose. But for some reason, Dr. Robotnik didn’t make it into the collection.

Each hat was handmade from colorful fleece, with gigantic googly machine-embroidered eyeballs.

You can find all three hats over at BeBeBunBunBits’s Etsy shop for about $25 each.

Sure, I might have found these hats a couple of days late for trick-or-treating, but you could still could draw plenty of stares walking into the office next week wearing one of these on your head. Me, I’m sticking with my Pac-Man headgear for now.

I’m just waiting for someone to figure out how to do Battlezone, Tempest or Pole Position, and I’ll be truly impressed.

I mean, even though the elusive gold rings Sonic loves to collect have been thoughtfully included here doesn’t mean I’ve lost my focus. Although I think I can hear the happy chimes of jumping and collecting them right now… good times.
