You don’t have to be religious at all to enjoy these fantasy prints designed to look like stained glass windows. Created by Marissa Garner of Fay Productions, they incorporate a variety of entertaining subjects from Batman to My Little Pony.

Despite just being ink on transparency paper, they’re designed to be taped up to your window or a light box to create a cool stained glass effect.

My personal favorite is the one with characters from the Batman comic book universe, but Spider-Man fans will be happy to Marissa’s got you and your web-slinging hero covered. Though there’s not quite enough room for all of Doc Ock’s tentacles.

Or if you fancy the original X-Men, you can get Iceman, Miss Marvel/Jean Grey, Cyclops, Angel and Beast to hang up too. You’ve gotta love Professor Xavier filling everyone’s minds from the center.

Of course if you’ve got a little girl – or just appreciate the kitsch factor, skip the superheroes, and head straight for the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic print. It’s awesome in its own special way. The only thing better would be for this to be made out of actual stained glass. Or for real ponies to look like this.

Prices for a full print range from $15(USD) for a 7.5″ x 10″ to $25 for an 11″ x 14″ version. You can also purchase a 10″ x 10″ of the round window part only, with the individual characters from the narrow sections below selling for $4 each. They’re all available over at Fay Productions’ Etsy shop, where you can also find Sailor Moon in fake stained glass form – if you’re into that kind of thing.

Ever wondered what your favorite superhero looked like as a baby? How about a fetus? French artist Alexandre Nicolas asked himself that same question, which is why he came up with the arcane sculptures that depict some of the world’s favorite superheroes as fetuses.

These sculptures are part of his Prédestinées (predestined) series, and they are quite interesting. You’ll find Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, the Silver Surfer, the Hulk, Catwoman, and Spider-Man. There’s also a Hitler fetus, although that one is a bit more disturbing – and he was anything but a superhero.

“Creation and its risks”, that how Alexandre introduces his series of sculptures. The sculptures were created in 2008 and weigh about 40lbs each. They are currently on display at the Xavier Ronse gallery in Belgium.

Redditor jwc1138 came up with an astonishing save the date for his wedding, using his spectacular drawing skills to integrate his and his fiancé’s face into the cover of a Spider-Man comic. Short of wearing a Spidey costume to the wedding, I think it’s the ultimate display of geekiness from an amazing comic book fan.

The art is based on the cover of the Amazing Spider-man #131, drawn by Gil Kane and inked by Frank Giacola. It featured a sensational plot which saw Doc Ock marrying Aunt May.

But that’s not all there is to this heretofore untold tale. Jwc1138 – okay this is silly, I’m calling him Jason. A couple of days ago, Jason found himself in the middle of a clone saga. His fan art was already up on Reddit, except his fiancé wasn’t the one who shared it, as the post claims. Wanting to resolve this tangled web of deception, he immediately warned the Internet and as proof, shared how the art came to be. Jason looked for the original art of the cover and had it scanned:

He also shared the picture below as further evidence, showing how he drew in his fianceé, himself as well as his groomsmen, thus avenging his loss to the mysterious impostor. Jason left ol’ Spidey in the save the date of course. I wouldn’t mind having him interrupt my wedding either. On second thought I would.

Great work Jason! May you get unlimited karma.

Who loves writing term papers? Me neither. And if this archeological find is any indication, our beloved comic book heroes must have hated writing them too, mainly because they suck at it. Well, not everyone – the nerdy Peter Parker got an A+ on his paper, although I doubt his teacher knows the tragic story behind this:

This one’s from Batman. He must have been one creepy student:

If Bruce became a member of the CSI, he wouldn’t be searching for DNA, he’d be dealing Kicks N’ Punches. Am I right? Finally, here’s one from Lois Lane; although she isn’t a superhero, this one is just too good to pass up:

Yet another proof that geeks are indeed cool: A bunch of scientists – whose professional motto is “Why not?” – decided to combine certain metals with the silk of the Araneus spider, and came up with “super-strength spider silk.” The experiment was actually inspired by a certain marine worm that had jaws powerful enough to crush corals and the shells of various marine life. The scientists found out that the worm’s strong jaws were a “typical biological material spiked with a small amount of an inorganic metal.”

So they went and tried to see if they could strengthen another biological material – in this case spider silk – by adding metals to it. After trying various metallic compounds, the scientists found that “all of the compounds dramatically increased both the tensile strength of the silk, as well as its extensibility. In short, the researchers had taken an unusually tough material and made it even tougher, with the best results produced by the aluminum and titanium treatments. ”

Here’s where it gets better: The scientists further theorized that this sort of spider silk can be mass produced. Woohooo! Segway schmegway: web slinging is the future of pedestrian transportation. Please let it be so.

The holiday shopping season is just around the corner, and rumors are starting to emerge that the video game console market is about to get a lot more competitive. The guys over at Opposable Thumbs are reporting that a reliable source has given them details on some significant pricing changes coming down the line for Sony’s PlayStation 3 consoles.

Rumor has it that Sony will drop the price on the 80GB PS3 to $499.99 once all the 60GB models are cleared out (which has been expected for a while). But the bigger news is word of a model with 40GB of storage which will retail for just $399, putting the console withing striking distance of the Xbox 360′s pricing. Both models are also rumored to be packing in a copy of SpiderMan 3 on Blu-Ray. The other part of the rumor is that the PlayStation 2 will get dropped to just $99, as the console continues to sell well as the “bottom-of-the-line” choice.

Had Sony launched PS3 a year ago with this pricing and a blockbuster action movie instead of the abysmal Talladega Nights pack-in disc, maybe they would have been more successful. Their chances for the 2007 holiday season certainly aren’t hurt by the fact that the system is starting to get some decent exclusive games too, with Heavenly Sword coming out this week, and titles like Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction slated for release later this year.

Chances are that details on Sony’s plans will emerge at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, which runs from September 20th through 23rd.
