Mstation Theaterbar: Surround Slims Down

I was over on the mStation website recently, when I stumbled across this interesting new sound system buried under “coming soon”. It looks like the mStation TheaterBar will soon join the ranks of one-box home theater sound systems, designed to mesh beautifully with today’s flat-screen televisions.

From the looks of the photos, the TheaterBar appears to offer not only a complete surround experience in a single slim box, it looks like it’s got bass ports on the back, so maybe it’ll have a decent low-end too. Another innovative feature is the hinged iPod dock, which looks like it can flip to the back of the system when not in use.

Not much else is known about the TheaterBar at this point, but it looks like it’ll at least support SRS sound enhancement (as evidenced in the close up pics on their site). I’m betting at least basic support for Dolby and/or DTS formats of some sort will also make it in the final product.

Knowing mStation, I’d expect the system to offer a good bang for the buck when it eventually arrives. I’ll keep my eyes and ears peeled and will update this post when I have more details.

Slaudiolab Adds Bluetooth Audio to Ipods

Korean tech manufacturer Slaudiolab is gearing up to release their new Bluetooth audio transmitter accessory for the Apple iPod.

The compact device plugs into the base of any iPod dock-connector and provides high-quality stereo audio over Bluetooth. The SRS-200BD will support easy device pairing and includes SRS WOW HD audio enhancement technology.

Pricing and a release date haven’t been announced yet, but since the devices have just received FCC approval, I don’t think it’ll be long before these hit stores.

Ilive Virtual Surround Sound System With iPod Dock

In the market for a complete home theater setup without a lot of clutter? The iLive iHTD8817DT DVD Virtual Surround Sound Speaker Bar (now that’s a mouthful,) is a complete home theater in one piece of hardware. As a bonus, it even features an iPod dock.

Channeling much of its style from Yamaha’s YSP surround systems, this one is a complete home theater in a box. It features a slot-loading DVD player, AM/FM Stereo and a media player dock.

The iLive Surround system is the first product to offer the new SRS TruSurround HD4, which provides virtually positioned speakers from a single device. The TruSurround HD4 chipset allows devices to process inputs of 1.0 to 6.1 channels and reproduce them in a virtual surround field using 4.0 to 5.1 speakers that are all positioned at the front of your home theater.

Pricing and a release date have not yet been announced.
