Personally, I hate the “Special” versions of Episodes 4, 5, and 6. I’ve seen them a few times when they came out, and before you ask, yes, I’ve seen all of the Star Wars movies quite a few times, but like many fans, I find that George Lucas messed up something great when he released these versions.

But I digress – back to Japanese dancing stormtroopers. It’s pretty funny, and worth a gander. I wonder if it’s in THX.

No doubt, being given your own Star Wars-themed action figure by the creator and also destroyer of the franchise itself is one hell of an honor, but a stormtrooper? Not a Jedi, and not even one of major villains, but one of the nameless cannon fodder. That’s what you get for being so critical of the Republic(ans), John.

George Lucas himself presented the toy to Jon Stewart when the latter interviewed Lucas at Star Wars Celebration V in Florida, where, among other things, it was announced that all six movies will be released in Blu-ray format next year.

Further proof that whoever made this toy actually hates Stewart: one of the two human heads features his crumb-catching goatee, and the one that’s clean shaven doesn’t really look like Stewart.

This of course leaves Stewart with one option: to use the stormtrooper helmet. Which of course turns the action figure into a generic stormtrooper.

As many of us from a certain generation, I love Star Wars. While I don’t own that many toys from the movies, I do like these the artistry in these Star Wars toys photos by Gareth Payne.

His most iconic shot is of a stormtrooper doing some moonwalking, which he calls Stormwalking. He’s got shots of all sorts of Star Wars toys, including Star Wars LEGO minifigurines.

Gareth has also taken 365 shots of a LEGO minifig Boba Fett, which he calls Year of the Fett. Much like Stefan Le Dû’s 365 stormtroopers, you can find Boba Fett in all sorts of strange situations throughout the year.

Gareth has got more cool toy photography to look at here. A selection of his shots is available for purchase at his Etsy store.

It’s definitely worth checking them out. I like the ones where they are beating up Playmobil toys!

Stefan also constructed a loose storyline, in which the two stormtroopers, TK479 and TK455 travel through the world, reporting back to Darth Vader, staying clear of the infamous wookies, and writing hate mail to Luke Skywalker. I think that took place in Episode 37.

James Cameron’s Aliens didn’t really scare me. The aliens were disgusting, sure, but not scary. I don’t know, I guess I prefer supernatural stuff; there’s just something about sci-fi and the outer space as a setting that ruins it for me.

I mean, I think it’s more likely for me to be possessed and crawl down the stairs like an insane, shriek inducing, constipation busting demonic man-spider, or be haunted by a woman from a well, or find myself crying in front of a camera because I’m being chased by something that… okay I’m scaring myself right now. The point is, novelist Joe Schreiber wants to give Bowies Horror in Space another shot, but this time the setting isn’t just any boring place in outer space. Hey that rhymed. Anyway his story is set in a galaxy far, far away.

Of course Schreiber’s not giving away any concrete detail about the story, because he wants fanboys to foam at the mouth until they have mouthfoam beards. Also he doesn’t want to be sued by his publisher. But what he can say is this: “A) It’s going to be very scary and B) It’s hopefully going to be released on the same day that my original horror novel The Black Wing comes out.”

Even though I have only read approximately zero of his books, I can say that Schreiber is a novelist of phenomenal talent. Because while talking about Deathtroopers, not only does he assure us that this horror book – a book that’s supposed to be scary – is going to be very scary, he also manages to plug another one of his books! Wha- how’d he do that? It all happened so fast! I’m kidding. Just having a good time. Let’s hug it out Mr. Schreiber.

No really, seeing as Deathtroopers takes place before A New Hope, I sincerely and pun intendedly hope that the book will add to Star Wars’ convoluted long, prequel-rich, reverse-engineered lore. The cover’s a bit disgusting, so I guess that’s a good start.

Deathtroopers is set to be released in time for Halloween, but you can already pre-order it at Amazon for $8 USD. That should help alleviate the flow of your mouthfoam.
