Weird Japanese Food iPhone Cases Make You Want to Eat Your Phone

These wacky iPhone cases from Japan’s iMeshi are completely impractical. Not only do they not really do much to protect your precious glass iPhone, they make them look like something you could eat, but you can’t.

According to the product description, these phone cases are based on “some of the most popular Japanese food.” The bento rice and yaki soba seem like obvious choices, but at first I couldn’t figure out what that crumbly one was supposed to be -I thought it was a McDonald’s hash brown. In fact, it’s Tonkatsu – a Japanese fried pork cutlet. And I didn’t think bacon and eggs was traditional Japanese fare, but what to do I know?

Ecohime Covers Up Your “Bathroom Noises” [Weird Japan]

Seriously, I couldn’t make this shit up. And now, you’ll be able to cover yours up thanks to the “Ecohime Flush Water Sound Cell Phone Strap”. Just flip the switch on the Ecohime, and you’ll conceal any unpleasant noises with the sound of loudly running water.

What I don’t get is that they made this thing look like a rose, but it only covers up sounds, not smells. I mean why wouldn’t you design this thing to emit a pleasant flowery scent while it’s doing its job? Seems like a major miss. Well, there’s always Ecohime 2.0, right?

Street Fighter 4 Cell Phone Strapya Joystick: Combo Moves on the Go

The Japanese have managed to create an entire cottage industry out of selling crap you can hang off of your cell phone known as “Strapya”. The latest Strapya: this Street Fighter IV mini arcade joystick.

The tiny controller actually yells out samples of your favorite character’s voices when you pull of their combo moves using the mini joystick and game buttons.

Here’s a handy guide so you can practice. I’m sure it’ll be really easy to perfect your combo moves on that tiny little joystick…

Piggy Bank Eats Coins for Lunch

Actually, there are no pigs involved in this bank. Rather, just another case of a bizarre gadget from the streets of Japan.

With its oddly misshapen wedge of of a head, Banpresto’s Face Bank is a rather disturbing looking device. Using an object sensor in its eyes, it detects your approaching hand and starts to chow down on any coin that gets within reach of its mouth. Once it’s done chewing up your money it swallows it for safekeeping.
